Perth’s own Chaffic has been slinging creative bevs for years now. Their forte? Quirky and cutesy fusion sips, with strawberry matcha sitting pretty at the top of the list.

We gave it a whirl, and it absolutely nailed the balance of sweet, tangy, and earthy, while looking pretty with its layers. What’s more, a 12 oz, packed to the brim glass, just cost us $7.

Cheol’s – East Perth

Shaded by Victoria Ave’s trees, the K-style Cheol’s offers sips and snacks. Their bagels are specifically sought-after, probably due to the range of flavours, from garlicky to sweet.

Completing it is the no-fuss strawberry matcha that runs from $6 to $7. It’s a springtime treat though, so mark your calendars if you’re keen to nab one.

Tip: If you’re not feeling up for the trip, consider ordering online instead.

Daisies

Daisies’ muted shades and grassy sections fit Cottesloe’s beachy feel, making it a picnicker’s dream. And let’s be honest, the strawberry matcha is another solid reason to stick around.

Their take got the balance down pat—grassy and not too bitter, sweet but not sickly. Loads of pairings get them extra points too. Smashed avo is what we went for last time, but you can’t go wrong with sausage rolls or acai bowls.

Tip: Pick up some stylish merch to go with that Insta-worthy drink!

Gather Bakehouse Perth

From gatherbakehouse

Address: 201B Oxford St, Leederville
Operating Hours: Tue to Sat – 7 am to 2 pm
Website

Gather has been gathering crowds with its fresh bakes and wood-themed alfresco zone. Not only that, but their strawberry matcha sits right with most customers, us included.

From our team’s last three trips, we can say their version is consistently on the milder side. The grassy notes are tamed, and the fruit’s zesty sweetness hogs the spotlight.

Tip: Their adorable cakes are also a hit. To get your hands on one, order at least two weeks ahead to secure yours,

2Deer Café

From food_and_i_

Address: 25D Gallipoli St, Lathlain
Contact Details: +61 412 294 476
Operating Hours: Tue to Sun – 8 am to 3 pm
Facebook

Calling 2Deer Café Insta-worthy is a massive understatement. Their schtick is having a 2-D-themed space, and the Indonesian artist who painted the interior pulled it off.

When it comes to strawberry matcha, theirs hits the sweet spot. Neither the fruity nor earthy notes overpower, making it the match for their delicate and umami-oozing belly congee.

Tip: The spot is sometimes closed for private events, as it’s a fave for them. To avoid disappointment, keep an eye on their Facebook for updates.

Facebook

Colour and character brim at 3 Little Pigs, from the wall art to the mouth-watering dishes and drinks. Best of all, they have Asian food to complement the matcha, including the salty and rich miso scrambled eggs.

Like the last entry, this one balances the drink’s earthy and fruity notes, but 3 Little Pigs gets bonus points for presentation. Those pig-shaped ice cubes make all the difference!

Tip: Get in early if you want the best spots, as bookings aren’t allowed.

Cafe Nari

From perthfood.co

Contact Details: +61 406 385 186
Operating Hours:

  • Mon to Thu – 7 am to 2:30 pm
  • Fri to Sat – 7 am to 3 pm

Cafe Nari’s pop of greenery and sleek design is an instant mood lifter, plus the Carr Place location is far from the usual Perth bustle. Still, it’s the menu’s good stuff pulling people in, with the strawberry matcha standing out.

It’s a balanced blend here, with the berry’s tang cutting through the matcha’s delicate earthiness.

Tip: Saturday is not the best day to visit, as it’s usually the cafe’s busiest.

Hemingway Cafe

From hemingwaybymo

Address: Central Park Perth, 152/158 St Georges Terrace
Operating Hours: Mon to Fri – 6:30 am to 3:30 pm

Hemingway Cafe is the sort of place that would’ve had ol’ Ernest tapping away at a typewriter if he’d ever popped in. It’s soft-toned, polished, and roomy—with quality lattes and bagels to boot!

The legit strawberry matcha could’ve sparked some creativity, too. No fake, powdery or dull taste—just fresh fruit and matcha, all whipped up and balanced properly.

Tip: New drinks and bites are all announced on their Insta.

Lulu Lala

From lululala.coffee

Contact Details: +61 481 235 660
Operating Hours:

  • Mon to Fri – 7 am to 6 pm
  • Sat – 8 am to 6 pm

Facebook

The cosy Lulu Lala has been outstanding for yonks, so we were pumped when their seasonal strawberry matcha became a year-round treat. It has the perfect balance—sweet and fruity with just enough bitterness to keep matcha fans happy.

Their iconic bagels are always our go-to sides, with that nutty, salty hit matching the drink. But we switched things up a bit with the cafe‘s butterscotch last time. Its sweet toffee twist didn’t disappoint!

Tip: Most folks roll in early for brekkie, but if you’re after a bit of peace, swing by around 2 for a more chilled vibe.

Chu Bakery

From chubakery

Address: 498 William St, Highgate
Contact Details: +61 422 248 674
Operating Hours: Tue to Sun – 7 am to 4 pm

Set near Hyde Park, Chu Bakery boasts a charming atmosphere, thanks to the birdsong setting the tone. Their Valentine’s strawberry matcha was also such a banger it had to go permanent.

Crowds, our team included, rave about the high-grade matcha and authentic strawberry syrup. Milk variety is also a perk, and we usually go for almond to get that nuttier kick.

Tip: Don’t worry about driving. There’s a parking space at Hyde Park.

In Good Hands

From ingoodhands.mh

  • Sat – 6:30 am to 1 pm
  • Sun – 8 am to 12 pm

Weekends at In Good Hands are a whole vibe. Their sunny interior is an antidote for weekend cobwebs, while the strawberry matcha with house-made compote brings in the flavours.

A crown of rich strawberry cream also tops the blend, giving it a sweeter, velvety finish. The final touch of matcha then gives it a bittersweet side, balancing out the fruity and tangy notes.

Tip: Fur parents, you can bring pooches here!

Neutral tones, tasty brunch, and a dog-friendly policy have earned Café Eighty2 a loyal following. Their matcha has real strawberry chunks too, so that’s a bonus.

Even better, they whip fusion dishes like gochujang bolognese to go with your drink. The spicy kick and hearty meatiness are a top match with the matcha, balancing the sweetness and bitterness just right.

Palette Fremantle is a modern resto and gallery all in one, so it’s the spot for giving your ‘Gram a facelift. The strawberry matcha is a win too, especially if you’re more about that berry-forward, less earthy profile.

Their version also uses nutty coconut milk to tone down the bitterness. Speaking of nutty stuff, the pistachio matcha here is fan-freaking-tastic as well—best give it a go for the full experience.

Tip: Hit up their Insta for info on the exhibitions’ schedule.

If Cafe Guilty Pleasure’s Victorian-era looks and ambience don’t draw you in, their strawberry matcha might. Their take is well-rounded, so you get earthy warmth and sweetness with each slurp.

As for the bite, the apple pie croffle is an obvious choice for pairing. Its pastry shell has that crunch, with a spiced apple filling as the main palate-pleaser.
