The 5 Best Cafes in Perth
How We Picked the Best Cafes in Perth
Cost
More than being reasonably priced, the value of the cafe services must be worth their price. The costs were compared with other cafes in Perth as well.
Menu
We looked at the assortment of food, coffee, and other beverages, as well as their catering and delivery options, if any.
Service
The services were reviewed based on their variety and quality of customer experience.
Communication
Their staff should be accessible in case of questions or clarifications. They should also be approachable and reliable throughout the service.

If you’re craving a peaceful afternoon, we think Cafe Leadman is a neighbourhood cafe in Perth that’s worth a shot. Their location is a bit hidden in the Claisebrook precinct, though.
Even though their place is tiny, we love that they’re known for their good coffee, as well as their seasonal menu items at reasonable prices.
Fresh from the oven, they serve muffins, butter croissants, zucchini bread, sandwiches, truffle scrambled eggs, pork belly, and the like. We also appreciate that they serve a few gluten-free options, like their slightly fudgy brownies.
This cafe has numerous beverages too. You’ll probably find something suitable from their espressos, cold brew, chai latte, matcha latte, hot chocolate, tonics, juices, and the like.
We find it worthwhile that they also provide speciality milk only at an additional 50 cents. Customers may conveniently ask for lactose-free, soy, almond, or oat milk.
But since there may not be enough space inside, some opt to have coffee via outside seating. The only drawback here is when it gets sunny, there’s no roof and not enough shadow to protect customers from the sun’s rays.
You may visit Cafe Leadman 5 days a week from Tuesdays to Saturdays, although they’re open only in the mornings. There’s also a decent parking space available in front of their building.
Pros
- Serene neighbourhood cafe
- Average pricing
- Caters to some dietary needs
- Good parking area
Cons
- Small cafe space
- No roof to cover outside seating

Those who like medium-dark roast coffee may enjoy visiting Allure Cafe Perth.
Their coffee has origins in Brazil, India, Indonesia, and Papua New Guinea. Because of this diversity, we like that customers can experience various taste notes of bold dark chocolate and strong berry flavours.
It’s also nice that they can accommodate non-coffee drinkers through their milkshakes with ice cream. This is available in crowd-favourite flavours like chocolate, caramel, vanilla, chai, and strawberry.
To complement their excellent drinks, we saw this cafe also has an assortment of paninis, wraps, bagels, croissants, and sandwiches, as well as different cuisines cooked by their executive chefs.
We appreciate that they have a separate takeaway menu as well for efficiency. But if you have the time, you may enjoy staying in their alfresco area.
Patrons may also book their catering services, although there’s not a lot of food on the menu, and prices may be a tad costly.
As for your landmark, this cafe is between Royal Perth Hospital and Wellington Square Park. We believe their location is strategic since this is accessible to more prospects.
They’re also on the left-hand side of Global College Australasia, an international hospitality cookery college. We find it interesting that commercial cookery students also help in the cafe, so we know they’re eager to impress with their skills.
Note that Allure Cafe Perth opens as early as 7 am 5 days a week, from Mondays to Fridays, though only for half days.
Pros
- Tasty medium-dark roast coffee
- Has options for non-coffee fans
- Serves a handful of snacks and desserts
- Offers a catering service
Cons
- Not many menu options for catering
- Available half days only

Tartine Cafe in Perth offers quick bites with a luxurious feel, ideal for casual coffee breaks and catering.
They have a superb selection of roasted coffees. We’re in awe that they use state-of-the-art espresso machines and Mazzer grinders, allowing their baristas to maximise the coffee’s flavour and consistency.
On top of these, they also serve loose-leaf teas and Belgian chocolate drinks for variation.
If you’re short of time, we like their convenient way of serving coffee and treats. Just fill out their order form online, and they can reserve it for delivery or collection – filling this out takes only a couple of minutes, especially if you have a few orders.
We saw this cafe specialises in French pastries and traditional handmade baguettes too. It’s also delightful that they have gluten-free baguettes for those who require this dietary need.
In addition, vegetarians can indulge in their hot-pressed sandwiches. Each one is cut into 2 portions so if you’re a light eater, we recommend sharing the other half with a loved one.
Another unique thing we like about them is that they serve yoghurt cups. These are either mixed with mixed berries, muesli (rolled oats cereal), or bananas.
They have some interesting desserts as well. We think you might enjoy their coconut fudge slice or Belgian chocolate brownie served with ice cream – perfect during hot days.
However, parking may be insufficient by Tartine Cafe, so we advise looking for an alternative at the City of Perth Parking, which is less than 5 minutes away.
Pros
- Good list of beverages
- Serves French pastries and yoghurt
- Has options for gluten-sensitives and vegetarians
- Provides an online order form for efficiency
Cons
- Inadequate parking space
- Closed on the weekends

Coffee, tea, and bagel lovers might have fun at Satchmo Café in Perth. We love that they cater to jazz fans who wish to listen to some classics.
This cafe wants to bring the idea of a New Orleans cafe to Perth, which makes them stand out, in our opinion.
They have several coffee options that can appeal to various tastes too. Conveniently, they offer decaf and soy, almond, and oat milk options when desired.
If it’s already in the afternoon or evening, this cafe also provides beer, wine, cocktails, and other alcoholic drinks for those who want to unwind.
Alternatively, we love that there are juices, smoothies, milkshakes, and other non-alcoholic beverages too, so there’s something for everyone.
We also think their soul food, like toasted bagels, eggs, mushrooms, and other freshly baked goods are warm and filling.
However, some orders may take some time to prepare. Sometimes, the cafe gets a little busy.
To avoid the hassle, it’s convenient that customers may order their food at Uber Eats when they just want to relax with their goodies at home.
Satchmo Café is open 7 days a week – you don’t have to reschedule your coffee breaks since they’re accessible daily! Just make sure to drive and park early since there’s only a limited parking space dedicated to customers.
Pros
- Plays jazz and blues music
- Offers alternative milk options
- Also serves alcoholic beverages
- Available at Uber Eats
Cons
- Some orders may take a while
- Limited parking

Those venturing into healthy living may find some suitable options at Duotone cafe in Perth.
Right off the bat, we commend that they serve modern Australian breakfast with special diet options. This includes paleo, vegan, as well as dairy and gluten-free.
Moreover, they source their food locally, which makes us believe that they’re likely to use fresh vegetables, fruits, eggs, and ethically processed meats on their menu.
They have a decent variety of hot and iced coffee, superfood smoothies, and tea as well. Accompanying these are a couple of treats that we appreciate they make every day.
The food menu is limited here, though. They can serve a few pastries like a croissant, toasties, wraps, bagels, a panini, and a baguette.
In addition, a few customers we talked to said their menu pricing is slightly expensive. Also, providing catering service is part of their plans, but this wasn’t made available yet when we last checked.
If interested, you may go to Duotone weekly from 6:30 am to 3 pm. Parking is available around the street, though you may need to drive a bit farther to secure one.
Furthermore, commuters may take the Transperth bus since this cafe’s location on Hay Street is part of its route.
Pros
- Serves healthy options
- Entertains dietary preferences
- Good list of beverages
- Customers may commute via the Transperth bus
Cons
- Few food menu options
- Pricing may be costly
