Address: 627 Beaufort St, Mount Lawley
Operating hours: 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM (WED-SUN)

Bagel O’s Delicatessen in Mount Lawley is a bagel shop that I’ve come to love. In particular, I fell in love with its laid-back atmosphere that combines the best of New York deli vibes and LA sunshine.

The minimalist blue and white decor, alongside charming illustrations of Larry David, makes it feel both stylish and inviting. Combine that with the smell of freshly baked pastries, and I’m guaranteed to have an amazing time whenever I visit here.

The star of the show here is definitely The Gina Bagel. Picture a warm, chewy bagel filled with house-smoked pastrami, a soft egg, American cheese, and a dill schmear. It’s a flavour explosion that’s become a favourite of mine.

Pro tip: Aside from buying their delicious bagels, you can also show your love for Bagel O’s Delicatessen by buying one of their merchandise. Their online shop has t-shirts, hoodies, mugs, and caps.

The Holy Bagel Company

Website: https://theholybagelcompany.com.au/
Address: Unit 12/110 Bannister Rd, Canning Vale
Contact details: +61 8 6180 8331
Operating hours: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM (MON-FRI)

While visiting one of my favourite local cafes, I discovered that their delicious bagels are sourced from The Holy Bagel Company. Founded in 2013, this wholesale bakery is dedicated to bringing authentic bagels to Perth.

That’s why they only use traditional bagel-making machinery to make their bagels. I applaud this commitment, as they produce some of the best-tasting bagels I’ve ever had.

Of all the bagels I’ve tried, their Everything Bagel stands out as my favourite. Topped with a flavorful mix of onion, sesame, poppy, and garlic, it boasts a delightful crunch and incredible taste.

Pro tip: You can actually buy their bagels straight from them rather than getting them from a local cafe. To do so, you can either visit their bakery in Canning Vale or have them deliver one of their bagel packs to your location.

Take note that they require a minimum order of $50 for deliveries!

Neighbourhood Bagel

Address: G3/172 St Georges Terrace
Operating hours: 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM (MON-FRI)

Neighbourhood Bagel is a new bagel shop that I happened to stumble upon during one of my visits to the Perth CBD. It has only been around since 2022, but it has already become a memorable place for me due to its cool design.

Here, you’ll find a lively atmosphere, with a pastel pink roof, friendly staff in white and red trucker hats, and a charming New York deli vibe. They even have these outdoor tables, which are great for whenever I’m in the mood for some people-watching.

As for my go-to bagel, it would be their Reuben Bagel. It’s packed with house-made pastrami, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, dill pickles, and Russian dressing, all combining to create a mix of creamy and smoky flavours that’ll make you ask for more!

Pro tip: Neighbourhood Bagel can cater your events, from office meetings to friendly gatherings. Just place your order online or in-store with 48 hours’ notice to guarantee the freshest bagels.

  • 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM (MON-SAT)
  • 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM (SUN)

I’ve been to Satchmo Café a few times now, and it’s quickly become one of my favourite spots in North Perth. Founded by Nathan and Benedikte Karnovsky in 2015, the café is named after the legendary jazz musician Louis Armstrong, or “Satchmo.”

As you might’ve guessed from its inspiration, this cafe is all about that smooth jazz aesthetic. Being a fan of jazz myself, it’s always nice to hear some tunes while I’m feasting on one of their Breaky Bagels.

This amazing bagel is loaded with a molten yolk fried egg, crispy bacon, and fresh toppings. It definitely nails down the breakfast essentials, as it offers a harmonious blend of rich, savoury, and fresh flavours that spill out like golden sunshine.

Pro tip: It might be a good idea to reserve a table before visiting, as Satchmo Café tends to get busy quickly, especially on weekends. You can reserve your spot by giving them a call.

Stomp Coffee

Address: 39 Angove St, North Perth
Operating hours:

  • 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM (MON-FRI)

Another place in North Perth where you can get your breakfast bagels is Stomp Coffee. I’ve only been here a couple of times, but let me tell you, the cosy garden setting here offers an exceptionally relaxing experience!

Aside from the atmosphere, I’m also in love with their highly unique menu. One thing that stood out to me is their miso tofu bagel, which has a delightful combination of pan-fried miso tofu, plant-based mayo, and garlic-marinated zucchini.

It has that savoury and slightly sweet taste with some hints of tanginess mixed in. I usually pair it up with one of their double-shot espresso iced lattes as a great way to start my day before work.

Pro tip: You can reserve their amazing outdoor garden as a venue for events like weddings and birthday parties. If you’d like to know more details, be sure to check out this website.

In my bid to learn more amazing bagel spots, I asked some of my friends for their suggestions. One of them told me about Hylin, a contemporary cafe located in the dazzling neighbourhood of West Leederville.

She raved about their diverse selection of bagels and highlighted her favourite—the New Yorker Reuben Bagel. It’s packed with corned beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and a special sauce that adds a unique twist.

Besides bagels, Hylin offers a variety of other delicious options, including acai bowls, avocado toast, croissants like the French toast croissant with bacon, crème fraîche, and berry compote, as well as fluffy pancakes with various toppings.

Pro tip: If you’ve enjoyed your bagels and are in the mood for a drink, Hylin’s Back Bar is definitely worth a visit. It boasts the same contemporary style as the main café, with a menu that features a great selection of cocktails, wines, and craft beers.

Address: 313 Hay St, East Perth
Contact details: +61 422 199 444
Operating hours: 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM (MON-FRI)

If you’re a huge fan of the coffee culture of our brothers and sisters in Melbourne, come give Duotone Coffee a try. Founded by David Yeo in 2015, this cafe is all about bringing the most unique coffee styles that everyone should try at least once.

This uniqueness is quite evident when it comes to their bagels too. A particular example is my favourite, the salmon bagel. It’s filled with smoked salmon, avocado, spinach, capers, red onion, cream cheese, and pesto.

These ingredients deliver a rich medley of smoky, creamy, and buttery flavours that definitely leave a good impression on my tastebuds. It even tastes better when I pair it up with a warm cup of their piccolo latte.

Pro tip: Follow their Instagram to catch their newest creations! This is also where you can learn more about their special deals, like their $1 espressos on Black Friday.

Posh Nosh

Website: https://poshnoshcafe.com.au/
Address: 218 St Georges Terrace
Contact details: +61 8 9321 3150
Operating hours: 5:30 AM – 2:30 PM (MON-FRI)

Whenever I need a quick bite on my way to work, I head to Posh Nosh Gourmet Cafe. Conveniently located in the heart of Perth CBD, this little café has a tidy dine-in area where I can take a quick break before catching the morning train.

My go-to is their Smashed Chook Bagel. It’s got all the healthy ingredients: tender chicken, creamy avocado, juicy tomatoes, and a tangy balsamic glaze, all nestled in a freshly baked bagel.

The creamy taste always gives me the proper motivation to power through the first half of the day. And if I’m feeling a bit hungrier, I also treat myself to one of their gourmet triangle sandwiches.

Pro tip: If you want to surprise your colleagues with some fresh bagels, you’ll be happy to know that Posh Nosh offers a catering menu. Simply place your large order by phone, and they’ll have everything ready for you the next day.

Operating hours:

  • 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM (MON-THURS)
  • 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM (FRI)

I seldom visit West Perth since it’s not a suburb I go through for my morning commute to work. But when I do, I make sure to stop by Big Fat Unicorn Cafe, which is only a couple of blocks away from Kings Park and Botanic Garden.

The atmosphere here is always warm and inviting, perfect for a quick lunch or a relaxing coffee break. Out of all their bagels, the best one I’ve tasted yet is their Chicken Deluxe Bagel.

It’s filled with a tonne of ingredients, including chicken mayo, streaky bacon, cheddar cheese, beetroot, lettuce, and tomato. It tastes like a club sandwich but with the unique twist of the bagel and the extra flavour from the beetroot and balsamic glaze.

Pro tip: For your first visit here, make sure to ask their staff for one of their loyalty reward cards. Like most reward cards, every purchase you make in Big Fat Unicorn Cafe grants you a sticker.

Collect enough stickers, and you’ll get a cool prize in the end!
