Pros

  • Beautiful waterfront view
  • Helpful staff
  • Has in-house catering
  • Has complete sound equipment

Cons

  • On the expensive side
  • Inconsistent quality of food

Beaumonde On The Point is a good pick if you’re seeking for a beautiful view for your event.

Beaumonde is located by the Swan River, and we’re sure you’ll be captivated by the view of the river through the floor-to-ceiling windows.

Of course, this view comes at a premium.

We also like the different capacities they have for different rooms, which start at 25 guests and go all the way to 800 guests.

They have five set styles to choose from, namely Theatre, Cabaret, Banquet with Dancefloor, Banquet, and Cocktail. This makes it easier for customers to make arrangements for their events.

I was helping a family member hire Beaumonde for a wedding, and the staff was extremely helpful. Because they’ve had plenty of experience with events, they were able to make suggestions that we hadn’t thought of.

We also appreciated how they had in-house catering and complete sound and stage equipment for the event. I was also impressed by their lighting setup, which they were able to set into warm tones to fit a romantic atmosphere for the event.

To save time and effort, we chose their in-house catering. You’re free to discuss and choose the kind of food that will be served for your event, and we chose a modern Australian menu.

Unfortunately, we didn’t find the food to be anything extraordinary; it was average at best. Some of the guests also told us that the steak had inconsistent doneness.

Pros

  • Central Perth location
  • Unique heritage interior
  • Hosts local events

Cons

  • Inconsistent customer service
  • Lack of amenities

Moana Hall may remind you of a certain ocean-faring princess, and we initially thought that this would be a marine-themed space too. Instead, we were caught by surprise—in a good way, of course!

The best way to describe Moana Hall is that it’s a 1920s-inspired space with high ceilings, arched windows, and golden highlights. Think Great Gatsby meets some tropical influence with lush green tones and woven rattan patterns.

I first visited Moana Hall for a live music event, and I was instantly enamoured by the place. The owner, Cheyne, is passionate about music and regularly hosts musicians.

Thus, it wasn’t long before I suggested Moana Hall as an event space to a friend who would be holding a vow renewal ceremony.

The place wasn’t difficult to hire, but we later found out that we were responsible for almost everything except for the furniture and sound equipment. Unfortunately, we also found that their in-house crew wasn’t the most helpful in sending stuff in.

This did come as a bit of a disappointment, especially since we were all sold on the beautiful photos we found on their site. Thus, we encourage you to have a little more leeway on your budget for florists, photographers, and event organisers.

We found that the only way to maximise the beauty of their interior was to hire other professionals to do so. After the hiring process was completed, the management was difficult to reach.

Pros

  • Good wine selection
  • Beautiful garden venue
  • Helpful staff

Cons

  • Events only held Wednesdays to Fridays
  • Has a 25% surcharge on public holidays
  • Small space

Lamont’s Bishops House is the perfect place if you’re aiming for an intimate, cosy, and romantic venue. It’s only best for small groups and most suitable for weddings or engagement parties.

I’ve been to Lamont’s thrice now, and it always succeeds in perfecting a romantic vibe. With a balcony overlooking a lovely garden, you can definitely have your own Romeo and Juliet moment.

The venue is built with red brick, which is sure to take you back in time. Lamont’s capitalises on this by describing their venue as having “old world charm,” which I and other guests agree with.

Lamont’s service was exceptional on my multiple visits. Making enquiries through phone or email was a breeze, and they were quick to send quotes.

However, their dedicated event space in the property is only available for events held on Wednesdays to Fridays, with Sundays at an additional charge. And should your event be on a public holiday, be prepared for a 25% surcharge.

Unlike other event spaces, they don’t have ready-made packages that include the equipment hired. Instead, it will be added on top of your total amount.

They do have packages for wine and food, and they’re especially popular for the former. They have a wide variety of wines to choose from, and you can even book a wine tasting without necessarily having to host an event.

With all these, I do find it a bit expensive considering their extra charges and limited space. However, the venue is like no other and has a unique charm to it.

Pros

  • Has multiple spaces to hire within the property
  • Has discounted dates
  • Open to explore without a reservation

Cons

  • Event space may not be private
  • Management not as helpful during event
  • No in-house catering and equipment

Perth City Farm is our pick for those on a budget or for those who want to have more control over the design and menu choices for their event. The hire rates are much more affordable since the property is publicly owned.

This also allowed me to explore the location on my own without having to make private arrangements. This is a huge advantage, especially when you have different venues on your list.

They have a total of five different spaces for hire: the barn and courtyard, the commercial kitchen, the art room, the hub, and the community room. The barn and courtyard, however, includes the commercial kitchen in its hire rate.

This is essential especially if you’re holding a wedding because Perth City Farm doesn’t have in-house catering. Thus, you will have to hire a caterer who can either use the commercial kitchen or deliver the food to the location.

The barn and courtyard is also my favourite space in the whole property, and it’s best suited for those who want a rustic venue.

The art room is also versatile for different events, with a subtle industrial design to it.

Because of its affordable rates, you’re expected to hire or bring your own equipment. Another disadvantage is that the spaces may not be entirely private, which may attract gatecrashers.

Pros

  • Close to the Perth CBD
  • Beautiful waterside location
  • Has an in-house caterer

Cons

  • Has minimum required amount for Fridays and weekends
  • Multiple complaints about customer service
  • Has a 3% surcharge for credit card payments

Another waterside location we love is Burswood on Swan. Just five minutes away from the Perth CBD, it will be no trouble for you and your guests to get here.

You can choose between their indoor Swan Room with floor-to-ceiling windows or their outdoor lawn area. If you’re hosting a large party, you can hire the entire property.

I’ve been to both spaces, and I would personally recommend the outdoor lawn area. You can choose to have a roof, but on summer days, you can opt for a completely open space leading straight to the Swan River.

However, that doesn’t mean the Swan Room is not a beautiful space in itself. It fits more elegant themes with its white draped ceilings and clear candle-style chandeliers.

Unfortunately, I was not impressed with their customer service, especially with the enquiry process due to the late responses. Others who’ve hired Burswood also had similar complaints and mentioned that the event coordinator was difficult to reach.

The poor customer service has led some to opt for different venues entirely, while others only stayed because of the deposit made.

On that same note, you must know that credit card payments have a 3% surcharge. Considering how your total bill can be in the thousands of dollars, we find this excessive and recommend you pay through other methods.

They also have a minimum required amount for events hosted on Fridays and weekends. This ranges anywhere from $6,000 to a whopping $25,000!

Peak months will have higher minimum amounts, so unless you’re willing to pay that premium, it’s best to host your event on a weekday.
