Age brings experience, and Sertorio Homes, pioneers of 3D imaging in Perth, has more than enough of both. Proof? Their resume clocks in at over 40 years, with a substantial portfolio to boot.

Included in that body of work are winning renovation jobs across multiple areas. In fact, they’re often up for HIA and MBA awards.

Consistently bringing a client’s vision to reality while optimising space is another strong point, especially if you deal with Nikita.

Supervisors like Jake and Bruce deserve kudos, too. Plenty credit their responsiveness and coordination for a project turning out well, complex ones included.

The missing weekend hours make timing less flexible, however.

Renovation work isn’t always taken either. One stretch, for instance, saw them locking into full extension projects only.

As someone who’d rather stay at home while work is underway, waiting doesn’t bother me. Sertorio Homes is generally described as a “disruption-free” team.

Exceeded Our Expectations

We are so happy we chose Sertorio after being recommended by a family member who had done an extensive renovation. Bruce the Owner and his Daughter nailed the design that we asked for. They exceeded our expectations and improved our original concept. We had Phil as our Project Manager and he has been absolutely fantastic the whole way through. We chose to paint ourselves so we still have a bit to finish but everything Sertorio did was completed to a high quality. With the small amount of issues that arose along the way from renovating an old house to this new extension there was transparency and problem solving to come up with some amazing results in a tricky build, our house was all out of wack being a 1970s beach shack. My parents are building at the same time as our renovation and they wish they had approached Sertorio first as the double glazing windows and doors that come standard with Sertorio are far superior to their well known builders range.

Sertorio has renovated and existing garage and added a bedroom and bathroom to provide us with a beautiful “Granny flat”. Established by master builder Steve Burke in 1987, Amerex Restorations’ credibility is tough to question.

Clients who booked the firm for character home renovation are especially happy with the outcomes. Those we called reported premium finishes that didn’t alter the space’s identity.

If accolades matter, they’re regulars at both MBA and HIA awards. The bodies first honoured their renovation skills in 2004, and since then, Amerex has been featured as either a finalist or a winner.

A potential turn-off is their focus on major overhauls. Those seeking smaller or budget-friendly updates may find more suitable alternatives.

Service areas mostly revolve around specific inner suburbs as well, usually those between 10 km and 15 km from the Perth CBD.

At least you’re getting accurate quotes. That applies to clients who already have drawn-out designs.

A 12-month maintenance guarantee is also given. It’s 6–8 months more than what most provide.

We are absolutely thrilled with our new home extension by Amerex, from the initial design to the final handover, Steve and his team were professional, attentive to detail, clear communication, and within the initial budget. Managing small- to medium-scale projects is Simply Renovate’s speciality. You’ll often find converted sheds, garages, and carports in their portfolio, as well as secondary dwellings.

Based on client chats, the firm’s standard is high without going beyond timelines and budgets. Costs only exceed the agreed amount if something unexpected is encountered, like carpets with asbestos and concealed tiles.

The good news is they’ve already proven their problem-solving skills. Specific instances include clients asking for design adaptations and unconventional requests, such as using recycled timber windows or blocks for builds.

If there’s a true con, it’s not having a fully in-house team, only a network of tradespeople. Though rare, it can still mean workmanship inconsistencies.

We also feel the other entries are better picks for larger projects.

But hey, not all of them have repeat clients. One interviewee, for example, has been calling Simply Renovate for more than 5 years.

It shouldn’t come as a shock that Lux Interiors is geared toward high-end renovations. One look at the studio’s history reveals posh kitchen revamps (need a new countertop?), laundry makeovers, and their speciality, spa-like bathroom upgrades.

They’re closely involved in the design process, mainly Kerrie. Nearly everyone who dealt with the designer brought up her thorough process (one said every detail was planned), strong creative direction, ability to manage curveballs, and collaborative style.

Delays in timelines are also rare. Andrew, the well-rated project manager, even gives clients access to a calendar where real-time updates are shown.

In terms of reply speed, they’re solid. Many note quick email, text, and call responses, something our testing verified.

Lux Interiors isn’t quite ideal for people with tighter budgets, unsurprisingly. Award-winning builds require bigger investments.

Another downside is the weekend closure.

The design process is so thorough

Absolutely brilliant experience for us with our extensive bathroom and laundry renovations. Andrew and Kerrie were fantastic to deal with from the very start, despite a few curveballs sent their way by our indecisiveness. We had a few basic ideas but needed help bringing it all together. The design process is so thorough, with every little detail discussed and planned out. Having a designer actually obtain samples for viewing and providing different ideas was fantastic. Kerrie also clearly picked up on our style ideas and always worked within those requirements. Lux also worked with our very limited window of opportunity to build and got everything done as scheduled. Andrew provides access to the scheduling calendar so that you can see exactly what stage the build is at throughout. And the end product was nothing short of spectacular – clearly all trades involved with Lux are at the top of their game as the end results were flawless.
