Starting with a personal favourite of mine, we have Parkerville Tavern. Affectionately known as “Parky” by the locals, it has served countless Perthites and tourists since its establishment in 1902.

One reason I fell in love with this pub is its beautifully restored federation-style building that transports you back in time. The large outdoor beer garden and playground make it a hit with families as well.

And they truly excel with their food and beverage menu. My go-to meal here is their slow-cooked lamb shank, which tastes so good when paired with a glass of the timeless Swan Draught.

Nothing screams “old-school pub” more than Last Drop Elizabethan. Established over 27 years ago, it’s designed to look like an old English-style pub you’ll commonly see across many villages and towns in the UK.

It even has a cosy interior that boasts a huge traditional fireplace surrounded by vintage tables and chairs. The outdoor dining area is also impressive since the pub is surrounded by nature.

But the real highlight of this place is its on-site microbrewery, which offers a fantastic selection of handcrafted beers. You can get 11 different beers here straight from the tap, including dark ale, pale ale, ginger beer, and Pilsner beer.

Whenever I visit Kalamunda National Park, I always make a point to stop by The Best Drop Tavern Kalamunda. That’s because it too features that traditional English pub look, complete with dark woodwork, opulent carpet, and a large open log fire.

All this stuff meshes together to create a relaxing atmosphere, perfect for taking a breather after a day of hiking. Combine that with their extensive beer menu, and you’ve got a one-of-a-kind drinking experience.

I usually go for a glass of their Guinness or Kilkenny. And if I haven’t had lunch yet, their traditional Aussie beef burger with a generous serving of crispy chips is my go-to. It’s the perfect way to round off a day in Kalamunda!

And as expected, there’s also a vast beer garden here where you can spend the entire afternoon basking in the beautiful scenery. There’s also a fantastic drink selection to be found here, including local craft beers, wines, and spirits.
