Those looking for an easily accessible location might love visiting the Kalamunda National Park – it’s located only 45 minutes from the Perth Central Business District!
Here, you may stroll by the babbling Piesse Brook waters and through forests of jarrah, marri, wandoo, and butter gum trees.
In the park, bushwalking is one of the most popular activities. However, doing so isn’t without its challenges.
Usually, short hikes on level, well-maintained paths to multi-day adventures are for fit and adequately skilled bushwalkers.
To ensure you’ll have a safe trip, it’s advisable to be in good shape. You may want to hit the gym, practise yoga, or perform Pilates first.

Lesmurdie Falls, in our opinion, is one of the Perth Hills’ top spots for watching picturesque sunsets.
We think it would be fantastic to watch the skies put on a spectacular light show from the elevated location – there are just so many viewing points for it around here!
Also, there are plenty of walking routes available if you want to do further explorations. This path extends from a brief 600-metre round trip hike to a 2.5-kilometer loop that will take you from the top of the falls to their base and back.
The steep sections will reward you with various views of the surroundings, too. Fortunately for introverts, this also provides opportunities to avoid the crowds.
Travel tip: Consider coming here during spring! For those who love flowers, there are several orchids and wildflowers to feast your eyes on.
Not only that, but we think this is among the best places in Perth to practise long exposure photography if you’re an avid photographer.
You may achieve those smooth-looking photos because Lesmurdie Brook has a lot of little rapids that run from the major falls.
However, be extra careful as there are steep falls and unstable cliffs all around. This is especially if you stray from the main trails in this high-risk location.

Are you fond of long walks for exercise or meditation? If so, one of the top long-distance walking routes we like for you to try is the Bibbulmun Track.
In fact, this runs for 1000 km! This goes through the magnificent South West of Western Australia, from Kalamunda in the Perth Hills to Albany on the southern coast.
Make sure to take a rest now and then to avoid foot pain. You probably don’t want podiatrist sessions to be included on your travel list.
We believe those who love exploring parks are in luck here as well. There are 22 national parks and other reserves that this route passes through.
