5 Best Public Golf Courses in Perth
How We Picked the Top Public Golf Courses in Perth
Location
Most golf courses in Perth worth mentioning aren’t within the main city, so we selected those that are easily reachable by private or public commute.
Facilities & Amenities
Apart from the number of holes, we’ve looked into other conveniences that guests are sure to appreciate. These include dedicated practice areas, carts, restaurants or cafes, locker rooms, and showers.
Cost
We picked golf clubs that charge fees relative to the course’s facilities, fairway quality, and the overall beauty of the place.
Customer Service
While booking issues, crowding, and long waits on holes are unavoidable in public golf courses, we appreciate the clubs that remain responsive and helpful to guests for the most part.

Pros
- Easily reachable from the city
- State-of-the-art driving range
- Offers evening golf sessions
- Golf lessons available
Cons
- Often busy
- Slightly pricier fees on weekends
With its proximity and facilities, we can see why so many claim that the Wembley Golf Course is one of the best in the Perth metro area.
After all, the complex is a mere eight-minute drive from Perth CBD, making it a convenient and highly accessible golf course for those coming from the city.
Meanwhile, the 36 holes lining the rolling terrain pose different challenge levels to entertain players of all skills. If you want a less challenging course, you can opt for mini golf instead.
We find Wembley’s driving range the most impressive with its massive 80-bay capacity and automated features. Plus points for the practice area that overlooks Perth’s signature bushland and the city’s skyline, providing a scenic touch!
Because it has a large capacity, one should expect that the complex is often busy, so it means you won’t always be able to practice in quiet.
Customer service and communication might also be unsatisfactory at times when the complex is full and there are plenty of guests to account for.

Pros
- Scenic yet challenging terrain
- Affordable rates
- Shower facilities available
- Offers golf lessons for kids
Cons
- A bit far from Perth CBD
- Not beginner-friendly
Carramar’s resort-standard golf course is ideal for players who want a more challenging time at the tees. With hollowed grassy areas and large bunkers, there are plenty of tough spots requiring more than beginner’s luck.
One of the toughest is the fifth hole known as “Heartbreak Hill” where you need to clear a 250-meter distance off an elevated tee to have a shot at getting home.
It might sound like a hassle, but we’re sure the most passionate players will attempt to clear it for the love of the sport.
We love that a cozy cafe awaits guests, whether you conquered the course or not. Serving barista coffee, select beers, and sandwiches on a veranda overlooking the 18th hole, it’s a fitting finale for a day out on the green.
However, it’s hard to visit Carramar on a whim, as it is a 40-minute drive from the city. Plus, the club encourages booking an appointment first, or you risk non-accommodation.
Also, while you can take children or beginners with you, there isn’t much to entertain them with and there’s no beginner-friendly or mini-golf option in this club.
3. Meadow Springs Golf & Country Club
Facilities: 18-hole course, driving range, putting green, practice bunker

Contact Details: (08) 9581-6002 | [email protected]
Operating Hours: Daily: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Rates:
- 9-hole: $34 – $40
- 18-hole: $64 – $74

Pros
- Beautiful course and surroundings
- Locker rooms available
- Great for private functions
- Luxury clubhouse for club members
Cons
- Pricey
- Occasional booking issues
Undulating greens and a vista of ancient tuart trees make Meadow Springs’ golf course one of the most breathtaking in the metro.
With renowned designer Robert Trent Jones Jr. at the helm of its development, the course’s layout hugs the landscape and flora of the land. Such a genius design makes for a stunning, seamless blend of natural and man-made elements.
We love that the course caters to accomplished players and higher handicappers, allowing every skill level to experience the tees. Also, the surrounding bushland and few holes running in parallel may hide other players from view, giving you privacy.
Note that this public access golf course has way pricier rates, though. If you’re on a budget, the best strategy is to bring a partner or play alone instead of the whole family.
Getting to the complex is also a long drive, about an hour south of CBD, so it’s a destination that needs more careful planning.

Pros
- Has additional sporting facilities
- Family-friendly mini golf course
- Close to the main city
- Scenic landscape
Cons
- Usually busy
- 9-hole fee a bit pricey
Boasting an 18-hole, state-of-the-art goanna mini golf course, Point Walter Golf Club is a family-friendly option that’s also convenient, thanks to its proximity to CBD.
The said nature-play course is available for both exclusive and public booking. Budget-conscious guests who opt for the latter can rest assured that a seven-minute gap separates tee times to avoid overcrowding.
More skilled players can take the nine-hole course. The difficulty level is low, but you can challenge yourself by doing a second round.
We love that Point Walter features other sporting facilities. The tennis and multipurpose area can provide a change of pace after you’re done with a round.
However, the club doesn’t have an expansive driving range and practice greens. That said, the manicured fairway is sufficient for warm-ups and swing practice.
You should also expect a crowded course, especially when you’re visiting on a weekend.

Pros
- Convenient golfing packages
- Exciting course hazards
- Pro shop packed with goodies
- Walking allowed
Cons
- Pricey rates
- Possible long wait on holes
The Secret Harbour course can be fun or challenging, depending on what tee you choose to start off. This flexibility makes the location entertaining for a wide range of players.
While it features a traditional Scottish links course design, the surprises that make some parts of the green tougher are the water elements, deep pot bunkers, and the ever-changing wind.
We love Secret Harbour’s experience packages, with the most comprehensive combining golfing, a motorized cart, and a hearty brasserie lunch. This kind of offer saves time, especially for those who don’t want to plan everything.
However, such convenience comes at a higher price tag. The rates further shoot up on weekends, so prepare your wallet accordingly.
Moreover, the food and drinks inside the club are pricey.
