Pros
- Multiple sizes available
- Has online size guide
- Offers storage insurance
- Has forklifts and drivers
Cons
- Complaints of reception staff not always around
- No 24-hour access
National Storage has multiple locations around the country, with 30 locations in Perth alone! However, we chose this specific location for its proximity to the Perth CBD and the storage units they have available.
Should you prefer other locations that are closer to your suburb, you can easily check the other locations they have around Perth and see which one is most accessible to you.
They have multiple storage units available: self-storage, wine storage, corporate storage, vehicle storage, and climate-controlled storage.
Their self-storage units come in multiple small, medium, and large sizes. It can be difficult to estimate which size you need, but we’ve found their online size guide to be extremely helpful.
If you have a hard time picturing out the unit size you’ll need, you can make a personal visit to the location, and the staff should be able to assist you and even show you some units that are still available.
However, we encourage you to call ahead and set an appointment if you plan to make a visit, as we have heard reports of reception staff not being available to attend to potential customers right away.
Should you need any assistance in moving your belongings in, they have forklifts and drivers available to assist you with large and heavy items.
Our main gripe with them is that they don’t have 24-hour access hours, so if you need to retrieve your belongings, you can only access them from 7 AM to 7 PM daily.

Pros
- Multiple sizes available
- Has packing and moving supplies onsite
- 24-hour access
- Driveway access and multi-staff access available
- Competitive rates
Cons
- Complaints about responsiveness
- No large storage units
- No climate-controlled units
Osborne Park Self-Storage is a small family-owned business that offers both residential and business storage units.
They’re most suitable if you’re in need of a storage unit to house archived files or furniture and inventory for businesses.
They can accommodate food and beverages, but this is only for items that do not require climate control, as that is not something they offer.
We can recommend them for new or small businesses, especially given their competitive rates. They also have 24-hour access, and you can set up to have multiple people be authorised to access your unit.
We also appreciate how they have packing and moving supplies onsite, albeit at a cost. It would be more cost-efficient to bring your own packing materials, of course, but in the case you forget or run out, they’ve got you covered.
The size of their units caps at 2.8m x 2.3m, and they currently don’t offer vehicle storage or warehouse-size units.
They do have an online size guide, but it only offers a table of measurements and not visualisations to help you picture out the size of the unit. Thus, it would be better to make a personal visit and check their facilities.
While it’s better to set an appointment before your visit, there have been complaints about their responsiveness towards enquiries, so if you feel that you must visit their facilities, an appointment isn’t a requirement to do so.

Pros
- Multiple sizes available
- Has contactless move-in options
- 24-hour access
- Free move-in truck
- Offers short-term contracts
Cons
- No online size guide
- No climate or temperature-controlled units
- No security personnel 24/7
Welshpool Self Storage is a favourite for many clients, especially for those who are looking for short-term storage. This is especially helpful if you’re in the process of moving or renovating and need a temporary space to store your things.
Should you choose to store your belongings with them, you are entitled to the usage of their move-in truck with no additional truck. However, you will have to check if your suburb is part of the list they can get to.
You can also access your unit 24/7, but we recommend only accessing it during their working hours, as there was an instance of a customer being locked in the facilities without anyone being able to help her.
While all individual units have security alarms and there are electronic access gates, there is no security personnel in the facilities 24/7, which we believe is a necessity for storage facilities.
Thus, we can only recommend them if you’re storing archives, furniture, and the like but not valuables. While we have heard no instances of lost items with the facilities, the lack of security personnel around the clock doesn’t make us feel very confident.
While they have multiple sizes of storage units, they don’t give an exhaustive list of the exact sizes for their storage units on their site, which can be inconvenient and will require you to call them to enquire.
4. Koala Self Storage
Available Units: Residential storage, business storage, vehicle storage (cars and boats), climate-controlled units, storage lockers
Unit Sizes: 1.5m x 1.5m, 1.5m x 2.25m, 1.5m x 3.0m, 1.5m x 3.75m, 1.5m x 4.5m, 3.0m x 2.5m, 3m x 3m, 3.0m x 4.5m, 3.0m x 6.0m, 3.0m x 7.5m, 3.0m x 9.0m, 3.0m x 10.5m

Pros
- Great customer service
- Offers short-term contracts
- Free use of truck, forklift, and trailer
- Free use of office facilities
- Wide range of unit sizes
Cons
- No 24/7 access
- No 24/7 security personnel
- No annual plans
Koala Self Storage has the widest size options available on this list, from small storage lockers fit for travellers to a 94-cubic metre (3.0m x 10.5m) unit that can store a boat, an RV, or a trailer.
Their minimum contract is only for one month, which is great if you only need a storage unit temporarily. The catch with this, however, is that they don’t have yearly plans and you’ll have to keep paying the monthly rate.
If it’s any consolation, their customers have said that it’s worth the price they pay them for, as the customer service they received was excellent and they were able to access the office facilities for free—including Wi-Fi and coffee!
You can also use their truck, forklift, and trailer for free, but you will have to be the one to drive the forklift within their facilities. The truck and trailer, meanwhile, are available for hire with drivers.
Their facilities are closely monitored with surveillance running 24/7, but unfortunately, they don’t have security personnel around the clock.
While they maintain that their facilities are safe and we’ve heard of no instances of lost items, security personnel are still critical to have facilities like these, especially if you’ll be storing your valuables.
Furthermore, they also don’t have 24/7 access, and you’ll be limited to accessing your belongings between 5:00 AM to 6:00 PM daily, with the exception of some holidays.
5. Catts Self Storage
Available Units: Residential storage, business storage, vehicle storage (cars and boats), storage lockers
Unit Sizes: 1m2, 1.8m2, 3.2m2,, 7.5m2, 13.5m2, 24m2, 60m2

Pros
- Wide range of unit sizes
- Great customer service
- Clean facilities
- Affordable prices
Cons
- 24/7 access on request only
- No trucks or equipment available for use
Catts Self Storage is another business that has a wide range of sizes available for their storage units. They have small storage lockers available up until units that are 60 square metres that can fit boats and large vehicles!
We also appreciate their pricing structure, and there are no minimum or maximum requirements for storage. You also don’t have to give them prior notice if you plan to move out, but you will have to inform them the moment you do.
Their online size guide is helpful and has diagrams, but the unit sizes they gave on their website are estimates and actual sizes can still vary. Thus, we highly recommend you give them a personal visit to see the units for yourself.
You don’t need to set an appointment should you visit them, and customers have reported that the staff was friendly and helpful as they decided which storage units would be best for them.
Customers also appreciated how well-maintained and clean the facilities are and how they are pest-free. This is especially important to keep your belongings safe from rotting.
They do offer 24/7 access, but the catch is that this is by request. You cannot show up unscheduled, otherwise, your best option would be to access your unit during office hours.
Another gripe we have is that they don’t offer trucks or equipment to use or hire, which means you’ll have to take care of the moving process yourself, even if you have large equipment.
