5 Best Nursing Homes in Perth
How We Picked
Quality of care staff
We rated the experience of the staff and checked if they are licensed medical practitioners.
Facilities
Aside from good care staff a nursing home must also have a great facility. This rates the quality of their accommodations and the medical equipment they have available.
Communication
The family of the patient deserves to know what happens inside the nursing home. We asked family members if they are given constant updates about their loved ones in these nursing homes.
Price fairness
A nursing home is a long-term expense both for its patients and their family. We rated if their prices are fair considering the quality of care they provide for their patients.

Pros
- Special care facilities for sufferers of dementia
- Many branches available in Perth
- Large outdoor garden area where patients can relax
Cons
- Limited slots available
- Above-average prices
Hall & Prior is one of the biggest providers of nursing homes in Western Australia and New South Wales. Their nursing homes are spread throughout Perth, making it easier to find a location near you so you can visit your loved one frequently.
Some of their nursing homes can be found in the towns of Rivervale, South Perth, Subiaco, Kensington, and more. All their nursing homes have great facilities and comply with the standards set by the Australian government.
To encourage patients to stay fit, their nursing homes always come with an outdoor garden area. Here, patients can exercise, mingle with their families, or relax throughout the day.
All of their staff are registered nurses who have access to 24/7 emergency medical services. The staff is also trained to deal with patients who are suffering from dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
Hall & Prior nursing homes are also secured by PIN-protected doors and gates. This is to prevent patients with dementia from wandering away from the nursing home.
However, a downside to Hall & Prior is that their fees can be a bit pricier compared to other nursing homes. The high quality of care they provide makes their facilities more expensive to operate.
Their nursing homes are also highly popular among many people. This means that slots are always very limited, especially in Perth’s bigger towns.

Pros
- Easily accessible by public transportation
- Many branches available in Western Australia
- State-of-the-art facilities
Cons
- Poor response rate to calls
- Limited slots available
Catholic Homes is one of the oldest nursing home providers in Australia. Their more than 50 years in the industry have definitely set them apart from the competition in providing quality care for the elderly.
A great highlight of Catholic Homes is its commitment to providing the best facilities for its patients. We will use one of their most popular nursing homes, Archbishop Goody Residential Care, as an example.
Archbishop Goody Residential Care features a garden where its patients can spend the entire afternoon. It even comes with a pond to complete the calming atmosphere it aims to provide.
Their nursing homes also come with gym and physiotherapy facilities included. Patients are encouraged to undertake regular exercises with their trainers to keep their bodies fit and healthy.
A professional chef is also responsible for meals cooked in Catholic Homes’ facilities. They ensure that all meals served to patients meet their daily nutritional requirements.
Another good thing about Catholic Homes is how accessible their facilities are. Archbishop Goody Residential Care, for example, is located in the Perth CBD and is accessible by public transportation.
However, a downside to the home that some families pointed out is their poor response rate to calls. It’s hard to get regular updates about their residents because the staff doesn’t pick up calls promptly.
Catholic Homes is also a very popular nursing home. Slots are very limited, and they may not always have a spare room available for your family member.

Pros
- Special care facilities for sufferers of dementia
- FaceTime meetings for patients and their families
- State-of-the-art facilities
Cons
- Very difficult application process
- Expensive rates
Rosewood Aged Care is a nursing home known for only giving the best amenities and services for its patients. Their facilities are ready to accept patients who are in need of special care from professional carers and nurses.
They currently have two nursing homes available in Perth. One can be found in Leederville, while the other is in West Perth.
A good thing about their nursing homes is their sizes.
Their nursing homes have everything their patients need to live comfortably. The rooms are well-kept, and both the common room and the outdoor garden have enough leisure activities available.
Rosewood Aged Care also ensures that all its care staff are certified and experienced enough to serve in their nursing homes.
One particular service I’d like to mention is dementia care.
Their staff is highly experienced in assisting patients who suffer from dementia. These patients are kept under constant care to ensure that their needs are fully met.
Rosewood Aged Care doesn’t treat its dementia patients like prisoners. They are still provided with a degree of freedom, and the families are heavily encouraged to make regular visits.
What I really love about this nursing home is its use of modern technology to help its patients keep in touch with their families. Their facilities are equipped with computers where patients can FaceTime their families.
One of my close friends who had moved to Canberra due to work is happy that Rosewood Aged Care makes it possible for her to still keep in touch with her mother, who is in West Perth.
However, a downside to Rosewood Aged Care is its expensive prices. Their cheapest option costs $550,000.
Another thing some people complain about is their stringent application process. Their Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) is known for being very strict about who they accept in their facilities.

Pros
- Luxury-level retirement homes
- Multiple branches available
- Friendly and attentive care staff
Cons
- Limited slots available
- Some staff members aren’t fluent in English
Regents Garden is known for its luxury-level retirement homes. Their impressive facilities and friendly staff are ready to provide their patients with a good retirement life.
They have many branches available for the people of Perth. Their nursing homes can be found in Bateman, Lake Joondalup, Booragoon, Aubin Grove, and Scarborough.
The main highlight of these nursing homes is the quality of amenities they provide. Regents Garden wants its patients to have a luxurious experience while residing in their nursing homes.
An example of this is their facility in Booragoon. The Booragoon facility features wide, spacious rooms with easy access to parks and cafes nearby.
It also has its own outdoor area with a great view of the Swan River.
Aside from amenities, many families I’ve interviewed also appreciate the nursing staff at Regents Garden. The care staff maintains a friendly attitude towards the patients.
As you can already expect, some of their facilities can be really expensive. However, I think their prices are fair when you consider the quality of the facilities they provide to their patients.
However, a downside to Regents Garden is that some of their staff aren’t fluent in English. This can sometimes cause communication issues, especially when it comes to making requests.
Regents Garden is also a highly-popular nursing home. They almost always have no available slots, and they still have many people on the waiting list.
5. Aegis Aged Care
Services Offered:
- Residential aged care
- High care service
Hours Available: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (MON-FRI)

Pros
- Good amenities
- Multiple branches available
- Affordable prices
Cons
- Limited visitation hours
- Inconsistent service quality
Aegis Aged Care is one of the best options for nursing homes when it comes to affordability. Their prices are affordable while still providing their patients with the quality of life they deserve in their retirement years.
They have more than 25 locations available in Western Australia. All of their nursing homes are committed to providing a comfortable home for their patients without a premium price tag.
One of the nursing homes that I’d like to focus on is the one in Balmoral. This nursing home is set in one of the best locations in the city.
It’s located in a quiet residential area close to the Swan River. It has a good set of amenities, including a hydrotherapy room, cafes, private dining areas, and even a cinema.
The nearest attractions to it are Perth Zoo and a few well-known restaurants and cafes. Patients can enjoy a fun day with their families and be back before sunset.
The best thing about Aegis Aged Care is that its prices are highly affordable to most people. They offer government-subsidised rooms which only cost $200,000.
Meanwhile, rooms for those that don’t meet the requirements to avail of government assistance start at $400,000.
However, a downside some patients say about Aegis Aged Care is that some of their staff aren’t always performing at their best.
Their visitation hours are also shorter compared to other nursing homes. Families and friends of the patients may only visit Monday through Friday between 8 AM and 4:30 PM.
