5 Best Kids’ Craft Activities in Perth to Keep Little Hands Busy
I’ve been hunting for the best kids’ crafting activities in Perth, preferably ones that suit their ages and don’t involve screen-time negotiations. Creative sessions give little hands something better to do than redecorate the lounge with crayons.
The right class lets kids enjoy paint, glue, and glitter while building confidence and fine-motor skills. It’s messy magic, minus the craft-supply explosion at home.
So I’ve rounded up Perth’s most creative craft workshops for colourful school-holiday fun and crafty afternoons. Some even offer drop-and-go sessions, giving parents a well-earned breather!
How much do kids’ crafting activities cost in Perth?
Prices vary by activity and group size. Individual sessions usually cost $5–$160 per child, while private parties can reach $525.
Community and library workshops cost $5–$25 per child.
Handbuilding and pottery classes range from $65–$130 per person.
Advanced and teen crafting sessions cost up to $160 per person.
Crafts-only birthday parties cost around $285 for up to 20 children.

Studio Thimbles caught my eye while I was searching for creative activities that give kids more than a glitter-covered keepsake.
Its sewing workshops let young makers turn fabric into useful projects, including backpacks, baskets, aprons, and tote bags.
All materials, sewing machines, and tools are provided, so parents won’t need to raid the craft cupboard beforehand!
Beginners learn machine basics and essential stitching techniques in small, guided sessions, while one-off school-holiday workshops make booking easy.
Do note that the sewing focus may not suit children dreaming of clay or paint, and some projects have age requirements.
The drawstring backpack workshop, for example, is designed for children aged 10 and above, so it’s best to check the selected programme before booking.

“Wonderful day learning to sew with Olga”
My daughter had the most wonderful day learning to sew with Olga! She said they were having so much fun; the day flew by, and they didn’t want to stop for lunch, just keep sewing! I love a kids’ art class that gives imagination more room than a standard colouring sheet.
Milktooth School of Art and Stories lets young artists explore painting, sculpture, textiles, drawing, writing, and comics-making with guidance from visual-art graduates Elizabeth Marruffo and Campbell Whyte.
The programmes blend creative skills with storytelling, so children can turn big ideas into artwork, characters, and colourful little worlds.
Materials are provided, while term courses and school-holiday workshops make it easier to fit creativity around family life.
However, parents can help children settle in but can’t stay during the session, so this isn’t a parent-and-child activity.
Course ages and formats also vary, and day-long bookings require a drink bottle and nut-free lunchbox. Check the details before your budding Picasso arrives.

The term projects are well thought through, interesting and beautiful, and support learning of a range of age-aligned techniques. I’m always grateful for a creative escape when the kids are bouncing off the walls, and the weather’s refusing to cooperate.
The Sunshine Lane offers casual drop-in crafting in Maylands, so families can walk in, choose a project, and start making without a booking.
The menu covers polymer clay, painting, collage, ceramic painting, and repurposed art, giving young creators plenty of ways to get gloriously messy.
After-school classes provide more structure, with separate groups for ages 5–7 and 8–12 and projects ranging from clay to sculpture.
The catch is that the drop-in crafting suits families happy to work at their own pace. Children needing step-by-step teaching may prefer the after-school programme.
The shared studio setup may also feel less suitable for families planning a private birthday celebration.

“Kept the kids entertained the whole time”
We hosted our 7-year-old daughter’s birthday party here, and it was an absolute hoot from start to finish! She had the best time, and all her friends were completely captivated.
The facilitators were enthusiastic and incredibly organised. They took care of everything, kept the kids entertained the whole time, and somehow managed to keep the mess to a minimum despite it being a slime party!

When a child treats every wonky line like a personal crisis, a workshop that celebrates trying can be a real sanity-saver.
Strength Heroes turns art time into a playful confidence workout, where kids can experiment, make mistakes, and keep creating.
The school-holiday workshops cover painting, clay, drawing, weaving, nature art, sculpture, and construction, so there’s plenty to keep curious minds busy.
With one adult and one assistant for every 14 children, the sessions give kids room to create, explore, and build confidence.
This setup isn’t designed for continuous one-to-one support, though, so families should discuss additional needs before booking.
Change-of-mind cancellations aren’t refundable, either, although eligible bookings may be transferred into credit with at least 24 hours’ notice.
