The 5 Best Music Festivals In Perth To Look Forward To This 2024
Sure, Perth’s beaches are all stunning and wonderful. And while I absolutely love a good beach day, sometimes (most of the time, really), the allure of the waves isn’t enough for me, and I need something more to turn up the heat and get lost in.
That’s why I spent my summer last year attending various music festivals around Perth, and I plan on doing the same this year. Because what’s more fun than jamming to some good beats and getting a bit tipsy with a cold beer?
If you’re just like me and love going crazy dancing, here are the five best music festivals in Perth to lose yourself in this year!
Out Of The Woods
Location: To be announced
Dates: October 2024
Website: https://www.ootwfest.com/
One of Perth’s most anticipated music festivals, Out of The Woods, delighted many music fans, including us, last year in Fremantle. The 2-day festival was the first major music event after COVID-19 in 2022, and it came back even stronger last year!
Out of The Woods brought many indie, pop, punk, and rock artists to Fremantle last year. While all the artists were amazing, the duo Broods was our greatest discovery at the festival. We found ourselves bobbing our heads as they performed Peach.
This year, the festival is expected to come back in October, and we’re looking forward to discovering more artists from its lineup. Of course, we’re also excited about the experiences the festival will bring, like the immersive pyramid we tried last year!
Pro Tip: You can bring an empty water bottle to the venue and refill it at the free filtered water station inside the venue. Make sure you’re not bringing glass bottles, though, as they will confiscate them at the gate!
Grapevine Gathering
Location: To be announced
Dates: October 2024
Contact details: [email protected]
Website: https://www.grapevinegathering.com.au/wa/home
Set among the most beautiful vineyards in Western Australia, Grapevine Gathering invites festival-goers to enjoy the perfect blend of live music and tantalising wines. And as avid fans of both, who are we to decline such an invitation?
We first attended the music festival last year at Sandalford Wines in the Swan Valley, and we still can’t stop talking about it to this day. With enchanting music from Hayden James and Bella Amor, the wines we ordered tasted so much better.
We’re not sure where this year’s festival will be held, but you can expect to find us there sipping some tasty wines while enjoying the festival’s live music. It will still likely be in Swan Valley, though, as it has the most famous vineyards in the state.
Pro Tip: Each person can buy up to 10 tickets, so you might run out of tickets if you wait too long!
Perth International Jazz Festival
Location: To be announced
Dates: October to November, 2024
Contact details: [email protected]
Website: https://perthjazzfest.com/
The Perth International Jazz Festival isn’t like most music festivals, with loads of tipsy adults dancing and an indie band hoping to be discovered. The festival is held at various halls and clubs, with artists serenading the audience with authentic jazz blues.
I attended one of the performances in Bobeche with a friend and had a wonderful time listening to some classic jazz tunes. The artists turned the small bar into a romantic venue for couples (which was a bummer because why was I there with a friend?).
We sadly missed the Jazz Picnic event they did in Hyde Park, so we’re looking forward to attending it this year! Other events to look forward to in 2024 include performances at Hadiqa and a vocal performance from some of the best jazz vocalists in the world.
Pro Tip: Perth International Jazz Festival has already started planning this year’s music festival, and the program will soon be released to the public! Stay tuned to their socials and website to get tickets to some of their shows!
Ice Cream Factory Summer Festival
Location: 92 Roe Street, Northbridge
Dates: December 2024
Contact details: [email protected]
Website: https://factoryfestival.com.au/
For over four weeks, the Ice Cream Factory Summer Festival brought the heat in Northbridge to the next level last summer with its incredible list of musicians and performers. This year, we’re excited to see how they’ll top last year’s events!
With more than 30 artists performing during the festival, we didn’t have a shortage of good music and fun times. One moment, we were waving our hands in the air while feeling San Cisco’s music; the next, we were jumping and dancing to NDorse’s beats.
As if the great music isn’t enough, Ice Cream Factory also brings a range of eateries and bars into the venue for the festival goers to enjoy! There’s nothing quite like dancing in the middle of a field while sipping on a cold can of beer!
Pro Tip: Bring your card! The music festival is cashless, so you won’t be able to enjoy any of the food and drinks inside if you don’t bring your card.
Spilt Milk
Location: Claremont Showground, 1 Graylands Rd, Claremont
Dates: December 2024
Contact details: [email protected]
Website: https://spilt-milk.com.au/perth/
As one of Australia’s most iconic music festivals, Spilt Milk brought some of the biggest names in the music industry to the country last year, and we’re expecting the same this year! The festival takes place in Perth, Canberra, Gold Coast, and Ballarat.
Last year’s Spilt Milk was definitely one for the books, with headliners like Post Malone and Aitch giving us the best performances. Plus, we were really hyped throughout the festival as the entire crowd seemed to be there for one thing: to have fun.
This year’s concert will also likely be held at Claremont Showgrounds again in December, but there are no announcements on the actual date yet. There’s only one thing we’re sure of though: it’s gonna be lots of fun again!
Pro Tip: Spilt Milk organises official after-parties after the festival! Follow them on their Instagram above to get updates on where the after-parties will be held.
