The best massage schools in Perth build students ready for treatment rooms!

Longevity: Subpar massage schools burn out fast, so our team opted for local options that have been around for five-plus years. Business registries and company profiles were examined to do so.

Faculty experience was also considered, and to gauge that, we looked into CVs and LinkedIn profiles.

Credentials: Our chosen schools and their programs are nationally recognised. The crew requested documents and looked into the databases of regulatory bodies for confirmation.

Industry recognition and the availability of internationally relevant courses mattered too.

Reputation: Interviewing potential employers and reviewing feedback helped us gauge the standing of each school. Entries with larger networks, particularly those involving companies abroad, received higher scores.

Teaching Approach and Range: By checking course outlines and chatting with current/past students, we identified which schools value active learning more while teaching more than one modality.

Pricing: Factors such as ROI, overall quality of education, and site conditions were all weighed against total expenses to assess value for money.

Due to its role in managing chronic aches, stresses, and injuries, massage has become more popular in Australia. That bit came straight from the Better Health Channel, so we’re not talking rubbish here.

Anyway, the continued growth means that becoming a massage therapist is a viable career path.

You can’t simply count returns without receiving hands-on training and structured education, though. They’re non-negotiables.

Lucky for you, the best massage schools in Perth that we discuss in this review have been turning out job-ready therapists for years.

And if you want to see pros in action or if you’re wondering where you can work afterwards, check out the top therapeutic massage clinics in the city.

TrainSmart first opened its doors in 2007. In 2026, this RTO (Registered Training Organisation) remains a solid destination for job-ready training and industry alignment.

Every program, including the HLT52021 Diploma of Remedial Massage, is nationally recognised. Industry pros consistently review their materials to ensure the content is current with real-world practices.

A well-built network further boosts the school’s credibility. Some of the groups they have partnerships with are MAA, AMT, and AMS.

Students even get to choose between on-campus learning (takes about 15 months) or a faster online/blended format (around 12 months).

Most importantly, training involves actual treatment of public members instead of merely kneading a classmate’s back, and it’s active therapists who’ll supervise the process.

We’re not fond of the frequent trainer changes, though, as it has disrupted continuity.

Going the online route is generally viewed as less ideal, too. One criticism is the lack of immediate feedback.

Pros

  • Open since 2007
  • Flexible learning formats
  • Extensive network
  • Real-world training

Cons

  • History of switching up trainers
  • Online students not getting quick feedback

The care and attention I received from her was outstanding!

This morning I had a relaxation massage with Rebecca and my life is forever changed. The care and attention I received from her was outstanding! Her attention to detail in focusing on issues specific to me is so appreciated. She gave me stretches to continue at home and explained the muscles that could be responsible for my tension headaches… more then my GP has ever been able to explain or help to treat. I have walked away happy, relaxed and educated. I cannot wait to see where this career takes her. Thank you Rebecca!

    Every massage has been amazing

Three weeks in a row, I have had a massage from three different students. Every massage has been amazing and as good if not better than one’s I have paid full price for. Thankyou and we’ll done.

As you’d expect, Perth School of Reflexology is where folks go to master reflexology. It’s been around for over 13 years, with the instructors bringing over four decades of clinical experience.

Certificate of Clinical Reflexology is the flagship qualification. The program is nationally recognised.

It’s also well-rounded. Anatomy basics, client assessments, and therapeutic applications are covered, as well as the “business side” of being a massage therapist or running a spa.

The obvious downside is that it’s not ideal for anyone looking to pursue another treatment. It’s all reflexology here.

Scheduling is quite limited, too, so booking fast is highly suggested. One of their most sought-after programs only had two slots left last time we called, even with dates being scheduled months ahead.

Flexibility is what you gain as an exchange. The school favours term-time-only, which is suitable for part-time learners or the busier lot.

    Pros

    • Operating for over 13 years
    • WA’s only specialised reflexology school
    • Seasoned instructors with 40-plus years of experience
    • Term-time-only setup

    Cons

    • Doesn’t teach other methods
    • Limited slots and dates

      Brilliant Trainer

I signed up for the weekend course last weekend and loved it so much I’ve now signed up for the full certificate course. I love reflexology and I’m so excited to start my journey doing it. Hollie is a lovely woman and a brilliant trainer.

Helping students progress more quickly is Discover Massage’s main selling point. Since 1997, the school has been following a weekend certification model that goes heavy on practical learning.

In practice, students spend most of their time performing massages under instructor supervision rather than listening to lectures.

Programs often begin with foundational whole massages. After that, specialised techniques are explored, like those used for injury-based treatments.

Courses are still approved by relevant bodies if that’s what you’re worried about. One of those is the globally recognised IICT.

We can’t deny that beginners may get overwhelmed, though. While everyone can attend, the lessons could still be too fast-paced for rookies.

Another con is the lack of focus on the business side of massage therapy. From what we know, they only provide a crash course on mistakes to avoid.

The upside? Discover Massage’s Diploma in Remedial Massage program is the cheapest one here.

      Pros

      • Open since 1997
      • Fast-tracks progress
      • Internationally recognised certifications
      • Relatively cheap program ($3,000)

      Cons

      • May overwhelm entry-level students
      • Limited business coverage

Body Riches Wellness Centre is best described as experience-driven. Founder Gay Riches has 30-plus years in her resume, and her expertise is passed through practical sessions.

Among those are immersive retreats and experiential workshops, which cover bits such as client connection and empathy. Technical mentoring often overlooks such things.

The options go beyond one modality and level, too. Our crew met beginners who enrolled in Swedish massages and therapists looking to upskill by learning about deep tissue techniques or trigger point therapy.

Better yet, IICT recognition gives several of their courses validity. Students can access insurance and membership pathways, and CPD (Continuing Professional Development) points are included to support ongoing growth.

Even folks with credentials or businesses in place can still benefit from their consultancy, one-on-one mentorship, and staff upskilling services.

Just remember that not every course is IICT-recognised, and that some workshops sell out fast.

        Pros

        • Operating since 2000
        • Provides consultancy and 1-on-1 mentoring
        • Teaches a wide spectrum of modalities
        • Highly immersive training retreats and workshops

        Cons

        • Some courses aren’t IICT-recognised
        • Limited slots

          Professional, Comprehensive

Just completed a two day Swedish massage workshop masterfully guided, nurtured on multiple levels by Gay. Fellow participants were great to be with, being massaged and massaging whole body, enjoying two massages a day in ambient setting. Having Gay work alongside you, refining how you use your own body to improve technique as you care for yourself. I didn’t consciously think about how these two days would deepen my own self-awareness, self-care and empathy for others. Professional, comprehensive resources including a one hour guided video of whole body massage. So reasonably priced. Highly recommend to all, those who want to learn and those who just need a different experience . Thanks Gay

Anatomy Trains helps therapists understand how the body works through the myofascial systems. BodyReading is what they label that skill, and it’s a must-learn if you want to analyse posture or movement patterns more precisely.

To achieve that, Julie Hammond and her team developed specialised workshops targeting specific body systems or functional regions. Both manual technique and anatomical theory are taught.

A major catch is how challenging it may feel for beginners. The students who enrol here typically have some training or job experience already, with the majority working as chiropractors, physios, and osteopaths (looking for an osteopath clinic?).

Pricing could also be a concern due to the relatively high costs. A three-day workshop alone can set you back $1,050.

That said, you’re not splurging for nothing. Anatomy Trains’ 640-hour program is recognised globally (it’s taught in the US, Europe, and Australia), apart from being evidence-based.

          Pros

          • Has roots dating back to the 1990s
          • Can provide advanced assessment skills
          • Offers modular and hands-on formats
          • Strong global reputation

          Cons

          • Workshops can get pricey
          • Not suitable for students with zero experience

            Highly Different Approach

An adept and highly diligent approach to massage and related structural bodywork. Lewis Loder, in particular, provides an effective, holistic approach to pain management combined with a sharp trained eye to assist in improved functional movement and posture.

            Knowledgeable, Passionate

Anatomy Trains AU & NZ Training School with Julie Hammond as a Director and teacher are the best school in Australia. I studied Structural Integration with Julie.

Julie is knowledgeable, passionate to teach, detailed. As a student where English is my second language. Julie mentally helped me not to give up. I felt her support until the end of my course. And even after I graduated Julie helped us with a free webinars during the pandemic.
