Pros
- Large space
- Wheelchair accessible
- Pets are allowed
- Hosts multiple events around the year
- Free Wi-Fi
Cons
- Long application process to hire the venue
- Might be unsafe at night
Located right in the heart of the Perth CBD, the Supreme Court Gardens has been open since 1845.
The best thing about it is its space, which can host up to 15,000 for an event. Don’t worry, an ordinary day doesn’t see this much traffic, making it perfect for a picnic or some time alone strolling by the riverside footpaths.
Since it’s a publicly owned park, it’s open 24 hours daily complete with on-street parking, public toilets, and even free Wi-Fi!
However, we only recommend that you visit during the day—unless there’s an event—as it can be unsafe during the night with some reports of theft.
We especially appreciate how the park is wheelchair accessible, complete with an accessible toilet as well.
The Supreme Court Gardens host multiple events throughout the year. Regular events include Opera in the Park and the Birak Festival that’s held at the beginning of the year.
You can choose to host your events here such as weddings, birthday parties, commercial and community events, and much more. The rate varies depending on your event and the estimated crowd size, but weddings are priced at $100 an hour.
If you’re looking to host a bigger event with an estimated guest size in the thousands, it’s likely the application process can take you 6–12 months, and it’s best to apply the earliest you can.

Pros
- Serene and tranquil
- Good space for meditation
- Pets are allowed
- Has multiple monuments and public art
Cons
- Small event capacity
- Currently cannot host events
You’ll find the Stirling Gardens just five minutes from the Supreme Court Gardens. Its space is smaller than the latter, but it’s perfect if you’re looking for a serene spot for meditation and reflection.
The park is known for its famous kangaroo statues, but the garden has multiple monuments, statues, and public art installations for you to enjoy.
Its prime location makes it a go-to spot if you’re looking to take a quick stroll or have some quiet time in the middle of your work day.
The garden is filled with flowers and greenery, and to preserve this, the City of Perth doesn’t allow any infrastructure on the grounds for events.
Stirling Gardens is open for events of up to 250 people, and while they’re usually open for hire, they’re currently unavailable to host any event or wedding bookings.
Once they can take bookings for events again, their approval process doesn’t take too long, and you’ll usually get a confirmation within four weeks.
But if you’re looking to have a social gathering with 50 people or less, the garden is still open to accommodate you for as long as you fill up their online form.
We must note that social gatherings are different to events, as the former is usually for picnics or barbecues. However, you will still have to disclose the purpose of your gathering, and it’s still subject to approval.

Pros
- Large space
- Multiple venues within the area available for hire
- Rich flora and fauna
- Celebrates indigenous culture
Cons
- Too large to explore in one day
- Easy to get lost in
- Minor issues of unsafe parking
Kings Park and Botanic Gardens is one of the largest parks in the world with multiple features for you to explore.
It’s got everything you would possibly want to explore in a garden—from the Western Australia Botanic Garden to river views and play areas for children.
It also honours Australia’s history in multiple ways. The park is home to Beedawong, a stone amphitheatre that highlights Kings Park as an important ceremonial and cultural place to indigenous communities in Western Australia.
It’s also home to the State War Memorial which pays tribute to the heroes of World War II. You can go on a self-guided memorial tour to visit the Flame of Remembrance and the Jewish Memorial.
That said, the park has a lot of features, and it’s impossible to see all of them in one day. It’s also highly likely you might lose yourself in the garden, so we highly suggest exploring their website to see which attractions you want to explore most.
The park’s large size also means it has different venue options you can explore for hosting events with a total of 39 different venues to choose from.
You can choose between different pavilions, gazebos, lawns, and lookouts for you to host your event. Each venue has different guest capacities and suitability for function types, which you can explore on their website.
Lastly, while they’re open 24 hours, we advise you against visiting at night, as there were some reports of parked cars being broken into.

Pros
- Perfect for weddings
- Romantic spot
- Has spots for picnics and barbecues
- Wheelchair accessible
Cons
- Small event capacity
- No pets allowed
Queens Gardens tops our list for the most romantic garden in Perth. It’s a popular wedding venue, and for good reason.
With multiple benches around the garden and a vast lake that’s home to ducks and water lilies, we won’t be surprised if Queens Gardens is one of your options for your wedding or a proposal.
Its maximum guest capacity is 100 people, but we think that’s enough to host an intimate romantic outdoor wedding by the lake.
Because of the flora and fauna in the garden, large infrastructure isn’t allowed. So if you’re looking to place large wedding installations, do note that this is still subject to approval.
For reference, most of the weddings hosted on the grounds have minimal decoration with only chairs, floral arrangements, and other small furniture for the officiant and couple.
You are, however, free to explore the garden on your own, which we think is a perfect place if you’re looking for some peace and quiet in the city.
But if you’re looking to take your dog out for a walk, it’s best to look at other options on this list, as pets are strictly not allowed so as not to disturb the ducks in the lake—and, of course, to avoid your pets from accidentally jumping in.
5. Harold Boas Garden

Pros
- Relaxing atmosphere
- Great venue for weddings
- Pets are allowed
- Parking available nearby
Cons
- Small event capacity
- No power allowed for events
- Lacklustre playground
Harold Boas Garden is best known for its rock waterfall, making it a fantastic backdrop for your photos and events.
It’s popular for its secret garden, with lush greenery and cottages covered with vines. Whether or not you’re looking to host an event, we’re sure that you’ll enjoy the relaxing atmosphere in this garden.
You can also take your dogs out for a walk here but only if they’re on a leash.
They have a playground for kids, but in our opinion, we find it to be a bit lacklustre. There’s not much for your kids to play on other than a swing and space to run around.
We think your kids will better enjoy looking at the ducks on the lake or even birdwatching!
But if your kids prefer livelier activities, the features from other parks on this list may be a better option.
Harold Boas is also a fairly small garden with a maximum capacity of 250 people. Luckily, approval only takes up to a maximum of two weeks, so hiring this venue is a good last-minute option.
If you are hosting an event here, it’s best to be aware that they won’t be able to provide you with power. If you need electricity for your event, your best option will be to apply for a permit to bring your own generator.
