Pros

  • Open daily
  • Big breakfast and brunch selection
  • Offers vegan dishes
  • Cosy interiors and ambience

Cons

  • No weekend bookings
  • Few nut and gluten-free options

Sayers Sister is one of the top family restaurants in Perth on our list because of its relaxing cafe ambience.

We think many can appreciate their cosy interior design with white washed walls and red bricks, which gives off a communal vibe. It’s also impressive for us that they display a lot of glass jars with sweet treats they made in-house.

From their breakfast and brunch items, we suggest trying their famous eggs benedict, potato rosti, beef and bacon burger, and slow-cooked beef brisket. For us, these meals can be a scrumptious start to a family’s day.

A customer mentioned to us that she loved their coffee too! Alternatively, their staff serves hot chocolate, iced tea, milkshakes, and soft drinks, which we believe is a delight for kids and picky eaters.

Not only that, but they provide a number of alcoholic beverages, such as cocktails, champagne, wine, and beer, for adults as well.

But while they have a few vegan options like their fruit and nut loaf, keep in mind that the restaurant’s menu isn’t entirely nut or gluten-free. We recommend letting them know your dietary preferences beforehand so they can accommodate you.

If interested, Sayers Sister is conveniently open every day, except on public holidays. Note that this restaurant doesn’t accept reservations on Saturdays and Sundays – only walk-ins are accepted on these days.

Pros

  • Authentic Italian food
  • Takes bookings every day
  • With gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan dishes
  • Decent kid’s menu selection

Cons

  • Limited parking space

If you’re craving some Italian food, we recommend checking out Maruzzella, another great family restaurant in Perth.

We love that their chef has years of culinary experience from all around the world. With that, we appreciate that the restaurant imports cheese, flour, and wine from Italy every week to provide diners with an authentic Southern Italian experience.

Families who want to try something different may order their specialties like Baccala (Norwegian salted cod), Capretto (baby goat), and other traditional recipes.

Otherwise, we believe you’ll like their pizza made from scratch. Their staff is proud that they make their own ‘mother yeast’, use sweet San Marzano tomatoes, and make sure their pizza dough is easy to digest – thick around the edge yet thin in the middle.

We also recommend saving some room for dessert. In our opinion, people with a sweet tooth would appreciate their tiramisu, panna cotta, and Cannoli 16 (a Sicilian-style biscuit with ricotta and Marsala liqueur).

Also, this family restaurant serves a lot of gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan choices. Although, we feel it’s best to communicate your preferences with the staff since some dishes, like pizza fritta, can be gluten-free or vegan on request.

We think children might also enjoy their chicken nuggets and chips, creamy penne pasta, and ham and pineapple pizza. Of course, older family members can level up their dining experience with their wine and beer selection.

Should you want to give them a try, Maruzzella accepts reservations daily from 5 pm onward. You may take advantage of the small street parking in front, but this may fill up easily during peak hours.

Pros

  • Unique Southeast Asian fusion recipes
  • Extensive menu selection
  • Gluten-free and vegetarian dishes
  • Easy online booking

Cons

  • Occasional longer service
  • Closed on Wednesdays

My Bayon is a Cambodian family restaurant in Perth that we think is worth considering for your next dining adventure.

In our opinion, eating with your family should be a memorable experience. So, what better way to do it than to try a new cuisine?

We like that this restaurant’s recipes are a blend of various Southeast Asian cultures. They offer a mixture of Thai and Vietnamese influences, but predominantly Khmer (Cambodian) home cooking from different generations.

To start off, you can pick anything from their curries, noodles, chicken dishes, prawns, and salads. A few customers also told us about their delicious laksa and pad thai!

It’s incredible for us that customers can taste their original sauces, pastes, and pickles, all made from scratch in their kitchen. For us, this makes the dining experience truly unique.

For the little ones, we think they would like the juicy chicken satays and the fried rice. We appreciate that gluten-free and vegetarian options are also available for some dishes.

Those who would like to make a reservation at My Bayon may do so online any day, except on Wednesdays.

Nevertheless, note that there are times when they serve a lot of people, causing some delays with the service.

Pros

  • Decent fine dining experience
  • Most dishes are gluten-free
  • Open most days of the week
  • Unique dessert selection

Cons

  • No takeout and delivery
  • Pricey holiday surcharge

For those who want a more sophisticated family restaurant in Perth, we suggest trying out Balthazar with their refined Australian dishes.

Here, you can treat your family to their seafood spaghetti, pork belly, beef fillet, or duck breast for a change! Their few delectable sides, such as duck fat potatoes, charred cauliflower, and mixed leaves with lemon vinaigrette, also intrigue us.

We believe their desserts are a must-have as well, with their creme caramel, chocolate mousse, and cruller doughnuts. These treats seem well-balanced (not overly sweet) and have enough texture to keep things interesting during your taste test.

Parents and older siblings may also treat themselves to their rare wine collection. Their staff told us that they have a good relationship with winemakers across the country and regularly update their collection.

Other than that, almost all of their dishes are gluten-free, so we believe their items can suit most dietary requirements.

However, we noticed that this establishment charges 15% more on public holidays – a tad higher than what several other family restaurants in the city would bill on these occasions.

Balthazar is open 6 days a week from 12 pm until midnight if you want to give them a shot.

Pros

  • Open every day
  • Big burger selection
  • Offers plant-based and halal food
  • App for online orders and pickup

Cons

  • Some reports of delayed orders

We think burger lovers might enjoy Betty’s Burgers, a fun and simple family restaurant in Perth that’s open daily.

Sometimes, you just want easy-to-order, fast food, and we love that this restaurant has numerous burgers and chicken dishes to choose from.

If you’re a new customer, we recommend trying out their Betty’s Classic with angus beef or Betty’s Deluxe with bacon and their special sauce to get a taste of their specialties.

To complement these meals, we like that they offer a variety of soft drinks, as well as milkshakes in many flavours like chocolate, vanilla, caramel, peanut butter, strawberry, and the like.

Nonetheless, their menu items may contain or come into contact with wheat, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, milk, and seafood, in case you’re allergic to these ingredients.

When preferred, we suggest asking for the plant-based or halal version of what you’re having since they can usually accommodate these requests if notified in advance.

In addition, we’re impressed that they provide a full allergen list and nutritional information for their menu online. We believe this is handy, especially for health-conscious customers.

Betty’s Burgers also has an app if you want to order or pick up your food, as well as access their new promotions.

Still, a few of their previous customers complained about their longer wait times on some days, so we feel it’s best to send them a follow-up message when this happens.
