How We Picked the Best Eye Specialists in Perth

Aside from affordability, the value of the eye services must be worth their price. The costs were also compared with other eye specialists in Perth.

We looked at the efficiency of filling out their contact form and the overall booking system.
Service:
The eye services were reviewed based on the scope and sufficiency of the staff.

Pros
- More than 4 decades in the industry
- Many eye treatments offered
- Reasonable service rates
- Available in 4 locations
Cons
- Longer queues at times
- Paid parking
With over 40 years of experience, Lions Eye Institute stands out for us as one of the best eye specialists in Perth. Since they’re a non-profit organisation, their rates and booking policies tend to be more attractive too.
They treat about 60,000 people each year and do about 8,000 surgeries each year. So, we believe this makes them very experienced and credible in their procedures.
Several clients we talked to also think this clinic has it all. They have numerous services like cataract surgery, cornea transplants, and laser surgeries, so we think they’re pretty well-rounded.
We also like that they have four different locations: Nedlands, Midland, Murdoch, and Broome. This makes them highly accessible to more patients in scattered areas.
Note that this clinic offers parking at their Nedlands and Murdoch clinics, but these locations may charge you for it.
And though they usually have their booking system under control, their staff can occasionally be a mess. You might find yourself waiting a lot longer than usual at their busiest times.
If interested, we think the fastest way to make an appointment with Lions Eye Institute is by giving them a call.

Pros
- Has a bunch of modern equipment
- Can do many treatments onsite
- Organised space and relaxing ambience
- Adequate parking space
Cons
- May rush some appointments at times
- Closed on weekends
The Joondalup Eye Clinic is another eye specialist in Perth that we recommend.
We value that they’re equipped with the latest state-of-the art technology. They can offer many in-office treatments for this reason too.
For us, this is very convenient because the patients won’t have to consider unnecessary trips to distant clinics to get treated.
It’s also nice for us to see how their staff organises their clinic. The space is just big enough for us to feel cosy without being too confined, in our opinion.
The fact that the medical personnel here are meticulous in their work is something we also appreciate. A few previous patients also shared with us how informative and helpful the staff are when assisting them.
However, there are times when they’re swamped with patients, so we feel their consultations may feel more rushed than usual.
Plus, the clinic is in the heart of Joondalup, near the shopping centre (in case you need to swing by before or after your visit).
There’s also plenty of parking near the Joondalup Eye Clinic. Just make sure to schedule an appointment on weekdays since they’re unavailable on Saturdays and Sundays.

Pros
- Known for their modern treatments
- Flexible financing options
- Open to working emergency cases
- Quick to respond
Cons
- Shorter Monday and Tuesday hours
- Clients may need to walk a little from parking
Aculase Laser Eye Surgery has some of our favourite eye specialists in Perth due to their popular procedures.
One of which is the Small Incision Lenticule Extraction (SMILE), which is ideal for those getting laser eye surgery. We prefer this because it’s a minimally invasive technique with a short downtime.
Not to mention, they have dedicated counselling rooms for educating their patients. We believe this is helpful, especially since many of their patients are younger people who may lack the knowledge they need to treat their eyes.
In addition, we commend how consistent their customer service is. Some clients told us that they typically get a fast response to their enquiries and follow-ups.
We also appreciate that they can cater to emergency situations. But since they can get a lot of bookings, it may be challenging to fit some last-minute requests between scheduled appointments.
But once you get in, we like that they offer Zip payments to those who need a little help with their finances. For us, this may compensate for a bit of the extra waiting.
Should you want to give them a try, note that Aculase Laser Eye Surgery is open 5 days a week but closes earlier on Mondays and Tuesdays.
And before visiting, remember that their clinic is located on a corner. Though you may park your car elsewhere, this may require you to walk a short distance from your car to the clinic.

Pros
- Wide array of medical services
- Numerous hospitals nationwide
- Opens earlier than some other clinics
- The clinic is great for commuters
Cons
- Parking may be inadequate
- Unavailable on Saturdays and Sundays
If you want a clinic with extensive services, we think you might want to consider Perth Eye Hospital for your next eye specialist.
But before you proceed, we believe it’s important to note that they shouldn’t be mistaken with the Perth Eye Clinic, which is a different location.
Now, we love that they can handle many complex procedures. Apart from eye treatments, they also deal with general surgery, gynaecology, pain management, urology, and more!
Not only that, but we also noticed that they have a bunch of hospitals in Australia – 29 of them! For us, this makes them much more accessible than other eye clinics.
However, we were less fond of some of their administrative aspects. A few of their past patients told us that the staff can be a bit messier with bookings during their busiest times.
They also have available parking, though it’s a bit small. Therefore, we advise you to visit earlier in the morning to avoid any hassle.
Perth Eye Hospital is available as early as 6:30 am on weekdays if you’re interested. It’s also convenient for us that the clinic is close to transportation sites for an easier commute.

Pros
- Relaxing clinic environment
- Open most days of the week
- Good customer support
- Gives referrals to other clinics
- Ample parking space
Cons
- Limited eye services
- Shorter Saturday hours
Future Vision Optometrists is a great eye clinic that we highly recommend for those who think they may have glaucoma or need simple vision correction.
Inside, their Perth eye specialists offer several specific services. This involves a diabetic retinal examination, orthokeratology (reshaping or correcting vision overnight), and a wide range of eye frame options for different patients.
Additionally, we love the way their clinic looks. The space is wide enough to accommodate the clients, and everything looks so organised that it gives off a calming ambience.
We also like that they’re available 6 days a week, which is already more than other options. Even if their Saturday schedule is only half a day, at least many can still conveniently visit on a weekend.
Another thing that stands out for us is the effective handling and excellent customer service. Some clients told us that they got what they asked for without a lot of upselling involved.
Nevertheless, their eye examinations are still fewer than others. Yet, we’re happy that they seem to know other specialists and can provide referrals when needed.
Should you be interested, Future Vision has a bunch of parking spaces around the clinic.
Their location is also surrounded by other establishments like pharmacies, a cafe, a beauty salon, and more – which we believe makes their area strategic for running other errands!
