The farmers market can be found at Subiaco Primary School every Saturday from 8 AM until noon.

This market features a wide variety of fresh goods, including vegetables, fruits, seafood, dairy, and more. All of their products are produced by local farmers and fishermen in Western Australia.

The Subi Farmers Market is a go-to for many residents of Perth every Saturday. My parents often give me a bag full of veggies from the farmers’ market when I visit them!

Some of the best things about Subi Farmers Market are the welcoming vendors and their super low prices! You can still have a great time visiting the market, even if you’re not buying produce.

So make sure you start your Saturday right. Get yourself a healthy breakfast from Subi Farmers Market before tackling the other activities on the list.

A local’s suggestion: Subi Farmers Market isn’t limited to selling fresh veggies and meat. They also have stalls that sell delicious brunch and baked goods like macarons.

Keen to learn more about Australia’s history in medicine and health? Then Subiaco’s Western Australian Medical Museum might just pique your interest.

This museum hosts a trove of medical tools and equipment used back in the 19th century and the early 20th century. They even have full-scale mockups of old operating theatres and pharmacies.

They have the infamous Iron Lung on display, which was quite a haunting view for me, as I remembered the photos of poor polio patients in the past.

I was impressed with Western Australian Medical Museum’s displays of Aboriginal medicine.

You can see these and more every Wednesday at the Harvey House, which adjoins the King Edward Memorial Hospital. They are open from 10:30 AM until 4 PM, and they charge AUD 5 for adults and AUD 2 for children.

A local’s suggestion: Print a map of the address or ask around the area for specific directions to the WA Medical Museum. Visitors new to the area may confuse the larger King Edward Memorial Hospital as the museum instead.

Address: 474 Hay St, Subiaco WA 6008, Australia

Opening hours: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM (TUES-FRI)

Let me introduce you to the theatre I always go to catch the latest live performances in Perth.

The Regal Theatre was completed in 1937, just in time for King George VI to take the throne (hence the name). The Australian Heritage Commission has designated it a heritage site due to its long history and cultural significance.

The Regal Theatre also has a great selection of restaurants: Fenway, Amelie, Bark, and more.

Plus, the theatre is fully accessible to wheelchair-bound people and PWDs.

They even have a soundproof “crying room” where parents can stay with their children. This prevents the guests from being disturbed as parents try to calm their children down.

Ticket prices are highly dependent on the time of the show and its popularity. Make sure to always check their website for show schedules and ticket prices.

A local’s suggestion: The theatre opens its doors two hours before the first show. You can arrive during this period to secure the best seats before they’re sold out.

Are you a cat lover and looking for a great place to wind down? Luckily, Subiaco can check both boxes for you with the famous Cat Cafe Purrth.

A great thing about them is that all their cats in the store are rescued animals. Yes, all of the feline friends at The Cat Cafe Purrth were once stray cats and kittens.

I am also happy to report that most of their profits go to helping more stray animals. Their partner, Cat Haven, is committed to helping more stray or abused animals live safer.

Here, you can buy delicious pastries and good coffee while playing with the cats. They also sell vegan options if you have dietary preferences.

Aside from good food, The Cat Cafe Purrth also offers a wide range of activities guests can enjoy with the cats. It was fun for me to play board games while the cats were just chilling beside our table.

However, please take note that their cafe is highly popular. They need to implement a reservation system just to make sure that everybody has a chance to visit their cats.

They do allow walk-ins but only when they have low reservations on that day and the cafe is quieter than usual.

A local’s suggestion: The Cat Cafe Purrth offers private functions for those who want to spend time with the cats all by themselves.

The memorial can be found on Rokeby Road. It’s a red clock tower with a white conical rooftop.

The clocktower is inspired by neoclassical architecture, giving it a simple yet elegant look.

Listed on the wall are the names of the soldiers and the wars they’ve fought in.

Besides how it serves as a reminder of patriots’ sacrifices, another thing I appreciate about this place is its calm and peaceful atmosphere.

If you’re overwhelmed or tired of the bustling streets of Subiaco, then the Fallen Soldiers Memorial can give you a brief respite before continuing on your journey.

A local’s suggestion: The clocktower is surrounded by trees and has benches nearby where you can sit and relax during the afternoon.
