Start your visit to Claremont with a quick shopping trip to one of Perth’s luxury shopping centres, the Claremont Quarter. This upscale mall offers the best luxury brands available in the city.

Because of their huge selection of stores and brands, I personally visit Claremont Quarter whenever I need to buy a present for my friends and family. You can also find great restaurants in the centre offering different cuisines, like Mexican cuisine.

Moreover, guests who have mobility issues can seek assistance from Claremont Quarter’s management. They have mobility scooters and wheelchairs available for reservation before your visit to the mall.

Local’s Tip: Claremont Quarter has personal stylists who can help you pick out designs that will suit you best. Look for them whenever you’re not sure what outfits you want to buy!

The FORM Gallery & Cafe, originally known as The Goods Shed, is a place where inspiration and creativity reign supreme.

FORM carefully choses local artists to showcase their art. The art gallery has new exhibits every month, so you’ll never get bored being a regular there.

As you can already tell by their name, they also have a cafe. I highly recommend the espresso because it’s good and you can pair it with some delicious pastries the cafe bakes every day.

The FORM Gallery & Cafe is beautiful both inside and out, literally. As soon as you arrive at the entrance, you’ll be greeted by their small garden full of blooming flowers and plants.

Local’s Tip: The FORM Gallery & Cafe is run by a non-profit organisation. Support them by buying a cup of coffee. Most of their profits go to the artists, and the remaining money goes to improving the neighbourhood.

The Claremont Museum is the next one to visit, especially if you’re interested in learning more about the history of Claremont and its people. This building is one of the oldest structures in the city, with its own story to tell.

The building housing the Claremont Museum was built in 1862. Originally, it was the first school built for the children of Perth and Fremantle.

The museum hosts an impressive collection of artefacts that tell the history of the city. One of the best displays I saw during my visit is the Claremont Speedway Exhibition.

This exhibition tells the history of Claremont when it was the centre of racing in Western Australia. It showcases many model race cars and the stories of famous drivers like Charlie West and Chum Taylor.

The Claremont Museum also has unique artefacts donated by the good people of Claremont. You can see what life was like back then in the area through the old photos donated by the descendants of their original owners.

Local’s Tip: Claremont Museum regularly hosts a guided tour around the area. Join one of these tours to learn more about the town with the help of a professional tour guide.

Visiting Claremont but wondering what you can get to remember the town by? Don’t worry because they have a store where you can get some of the most unique souvenirs in Perth, the Trowbridge Gallery.

Trowbridge Gallery is an antique print gallery that sells original prints made in the 17th and 18th centuries. This store is the only one of its kind in the entire state of Western Australia.

Most of their products are early prints and maps of places all around the world.

I actually bought one of their old maps as a gift for my friend who came to Perth to see me. The map I gave him was a rendition of 1900s London.

He was so happy with the gift because he’s a big history buff and a Londoner as well.

I’m going to say it outright: Trowbridge Gallery’s prices aren’t cheap, but that’s the price you have to pay to get genuine artefacts from the past.

Their products can range anywhere from $120 to more than $2,000. The prices are highly dependent on the rarity and demand for that item.

So make sure to drop by Trowbridge Gallery while in Claremont to get yourself a memento that can wow all your friends. Even if you’re not planning to buy anything, having the chance to see their collection is still worthwhile, in my opinion.

Local’s Tip: Trowbridge Gallery has a framing service available for personal artwork and photos. You can have your favourite photo encased in one of the special frames they make in-house.

Opening hours: 5:00 AM – 6:00 PM (MON-SUN)

Pinnaroo Valley Memorial Park is an interesting place to visit due to the huge presence of wildlife on its fields, including the famous kangaroos. Aside from being a home for wildlife, the memorial park is also a unique cemetery in itself.

The graves in Pinnaroo Valley Memorial Park aren’t allowed to have monuments. Each grave is instead marked by flat bronze plaques to minimise traces of human disturbance in the area.

Pinnaroo Valley Memorial Park is home to some of Perth’s kangaroos. These wild animals are free to roam around the cemetery, and they are already used to the presence of humans in their home.

The cemetery’s clear scenery makes it a popular place for morning jogging and walking. The lack of concrete monuments has resulted in the cemetery becoming a popular picnic spot as well.

Pinnaroo Valley Memorial Park is a place you can also visit if you just want to unwind and relax. I often find myself taking a quick stroll through this place whenever I find myself overburdened with my responsibilities.

Local’s Tip: Pinnaroo Valley Memorial Park has a coffee shop. You can get your daily caffeine here before you quietly stroll around the cemetery and admire its kangaroo population.

They even have many fun rides that both kids and adults will enjoy. Some of those include bump cars, Ferris wheels, roller coasters, and more.

With so many things to do, it’s no wonder why many people are always excited about the Perth Royal Show every year.

Because the Perth Royal Show is first and foremost an agricultural event, most of its events revolve around animals. When I visited the event last 2022, one of the best events for me was the dog performance and horse jumping shows.

Local’s Tip: The Perth Royal Show has more than 100 activities you can do for free. You can literally spend an entire day at the event without spending a single dime.

Address: Stirling Road, Claremont, WA 6010, Australia

Opening hours: Accessible 24/7

Finish your visit to the town with a relaxing walk on the side of Lake Claremont. The lake is a popular spot for birds to visit, making the place a favourite park of Perth’s birdwatchers.

Lake Claremont was once an unfortunate case of a dying body of water due to human negligence and pollution. However, a revitalisation project was carried out to save it.

When the lake was restored to its pristine state, it became a home for more than 100 species of birds. The most numerous bird populations in the lake are the Grey Teal, Eurasian Coot, and Pacific Black Duck.

Lake Claremont offers many activities that its guests can enjoy. Aside from paths you can walk or jog on, the lake also features great picnic spots with BBQ facilities.

Local’s Tip: If you’re a fan of birds, I suggest you visit Lake Claremont between the months of August and January. These are the months when the bird population is abundant.
