Play like a pro in no time once you’ve learned the secrets of Perth’s best golf coaches
One of the best things I love to do with my friends is try new things. Whether it be paragliding, surfing, or basketball, I’m game! Recently, we’ve started to dabble in golf, as it’s a relaxing game after a busy week.
Sadly, this is the one game I totally suck at! As someone who has a bit of a competitive spirit, I don’t want to always finish last in our golf sessions.
Luckily for me, I was able to get a good instructor to help me improve my swings. Here are a couple of other amazing golf coaches in Perth you should definitely check out!

Let’s start with one of Perth’s most famous golf coaches, Danny Malcolm. An avid golfer since 2005, he had an impressive start to his career after he won the PGA Rookie of the Year award in 2006.
As the years passed, he became a student of Dave Phillips, a renowned golf coach who trained elite golfers like Jon Rahm. Now, with almost two decades of experience, Danny has decided to use his experience to train the next generation of Perthite golfers.
Should you decide to train with him, his emphasis is on safe and efficient movement. Thankfully, it’s very easy to be his student, as he offers his lessons both in person and online.
Even better, he also has a golf academy in the Perth Golf Centre where you can enjoy subscription-based golf lessons for $299 a month. It tends to get fully booked quickly, though.
Pros
- Almost 20 years of golfing experience
- PGA Rookie of the Year in 2006
- Received training from elite coach Dave Phillips
- Has a subscription-based golf academy
Cons
- Tends to get fully booked quickly
- Inconsistent hours
I can’t thank Danny enough for his professionalism and care
“Being middle aged I love going to Danny’s sessions because his first priority is longevity in the game. My session to correct a slice turned into a thorough setup, posture and swing. I can’t thank Danny enough for his professionalism and care, I look forward to many more sessions to improve other areas of my game.
Legend Danny!!”

Danny’s passion for the game and coaching others is so evident
“Danny’s passion for the game and coaching others is so evident in the enthusiastic way he conducts himself in sessions.
His ability to break down concepts and explain how they mechanically affect each component of the golf swing makes me wonder where he hides his wizard hat.
I would never hesitate to recommend him to anyone!”

Another amazing golf coach who has more than a decade of experience in golf is Nicholas D’Avoine. An avid golfer since he was 14, his impressive understanding of the game was made possible thanks to his apprenticeship under PGA professional Graham Warburton.
However, what truly made him great was when he qualified 2nd in his Players Ability Test (PAT) with a score of -6. In case you’re not aware, having a -6 score meant that he finished 6 strokes below the target score.
Today, he brings a unique coaching style thanks to his knowledge of biomechanics. With him, you’ll learn how to improve your posture, joint angles, muscle activation, and weight transfer during a swing.
Interestingly, Nicholas also offers guided golf tours to Mauritius if you prefer a change of scenery.
The only issue I have with him is his limited availability.
Pros
- Trained under Graham Warburton
- Achieved a score of -6 in PAT
- Has deep knowledge of biomechanics
- Offers Mauritian guided tours
Cons
- Can only teach in mornings
- Unavailable on Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays
He’s by far the best I’ve come across
“Just finished my 1st lesson with Nick at Golf box Osborne Park. I have to say having had numerous lessons with other pros he’s by far the best I’ve come across. Couldn’t make a higher recommendation to any golfer looking to improve. The tech he has there is outstanding and makes it a lot easier to rectify your faults. Thoroughly enjoyed the lesson and look forward to future lessons. Many Thanks Nick!!”

Conor Brown is an advanced Australian PGA professional based at the Royal Perth Golf Club. With over 17 years of experience, he can serve as an excellent partner to improve your golf game from start to finish.
For me, the best thing about him is his adequate blend of technical knowledge and simplistic communication approach, which make his lessons accessible to everyone. He even records the performance of his students on video so that he can provide instant feedback on their play styles and identify areas for improvement.
Overall, he’s an excellent choice, especially because he offers coaching packages that let you buy multiple sessions in advance.
However, it should be noted that his teaching spot, the Royal Perth Golf Club, has been criticised for its somewhat underwhelming layout. If you’re a highly skilled player, you might want to look for other options.

- Provides highly-accurate feedback
- Offers coaching packages
Cons
- His teaching spot is somewhat underwhelming

His lessons are very clear and understandable and it’s very rewarding seeing my son progress in the game of golf. His use of technology where every lesson is recorded and analyzed by Conor is a great tool to fall back on.
I thoroughly recommend Conor, if you’re looking to improve your game of golf.”

I found his teaching style to be excellent
“Kerrod is a fantastic down-to-earth coach. I found his youtube channel first and found his tips very helpful. I then thought it would be a good opportunity to meet in person and learn from him.

If you want to work with someone who uses technology to enhance their lessons, come check out Dylan Brophy. A golfer since 2013, he has consistently performed well throughout his career, especially during his stay in Ireland, where he consistently ranked in the top 20 in amateur golf competitions.
After becoming a pro player in 2019, he quickly moved towards assisting players in Perth to improve their games through his coaching program. Under his mentorship, you can expect to learn a balanced blend of technical precision and strategic thinking.
And as I’ve mentioned earlier, technology plays a key part in his coaching style. He uses the Trackman, a state-of-the-art golf simulator, to capture his students’ performance and provide accurate analysis and feedback ASAP.
The only issue I have is his lacklustre resume outside of his amateur years. If you prefer a more seasoned coach, look for other options.
Pros
- 11 years of playing experience
- One of Ireland’s top amateur golfers
- Uses Trackman for his lessons
- Offers Junior lessons
Cons
- No notable pro golf accolades
