The 12 Best Dog-Friendly Restaurants In Perth That’ll Have Your Dog’s Tail Wagging
One thing I’ll never be ashamed of admitting is I’m a fool who can’t say no to my dog. It’s a realisation I came to terms with after the several attempts I had to go eat outside only to end up bringing my baby with me because I can’t bear to see him sulking.
No, seriously, how can anyone say no to their pooch once they give you those puppy eyes? Definitely not me, and maybe not you, too, since you’re here now.
Well, don’t worry because you no longer need to feel guilty leaving your pup at home just to eat out. I compiled this list of my favourite dog-friendly restaurants around Perth to make sure you and your pup can dine together!
Two Dogs Laughing
Website: http://twodogslaughing.com.au/
Contact details: 0411566484, [email protected]
Operating hours: Monday to Sunday: 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM
If there’s one thing Two Dogs Laughing in Beaconsfield is really good at, it’s making every dog that comes to visit the restaurant end up laughing and happy. From their own dog, Boncie, to their customers’ own pooch, they make sure everyone’s happy.
My dog, Cookie, absolutely loved the free Puppycino (or sweetened whipped cream) they handed us. Plus, the alfresco dining tables are spaced out generously, so Cookie didn’t feel uncomfortable being too close to other diners and dogs.
As for the food, they have some really good breakfast and brunch menus that have names just as quirky as the restaurant’s decorations. Their pancakes were so delicious and definitely the best pair to their crazy good coffee.
Pro Tip: They have good vegan and gluten-free options! Make sure to just let them know about your dietary requirements, and they’ll recommend some good items for you!
The Balmoral Hotel
Location: 901 Albany Hwy, Victoria Park
Website: https://www.thebalmoral.com.au/
Contact details: (08) 9355 4533
Operating hours: Monday to Sunday: 10:00 AM to 12:00 AM
Looking for good food, good beer, and a good day with your beloved dog? The Balmoral Hotel, located at the heart of Victoria Park, is one of our top recommendations!
I went around winter to get some takeaways but was surprised that the outdoor area had heaters, so I decided to stay with my dog. The area was decent-sized, and I didn’t have to worry about our dog or other diners being uncomfortable.
The steak sandwich I had was very tender and definitely one of the best sandwiches I’ve had in Vic Park. But the main highlight of our visit was their huge selection of beers, as it gave me more reasons to come back and try the other ones they have.
Pro Tip: If you’re looking for a more filling meal, they have a bistro that serves lunch and dinner from 11:00 AM every weekday. We recommend booking a table online, as it can get hectic, especially when they have events.
The Royal at the Waterfront
Location: Claisebrook Cove, 60 Royal St, East Perth
Website: http://www.theroyaleastperth.com/
Contact details: 08 9463 0955, [email protected]
Operating hours:
Monday to Thursday: 11:30 AM to 10:00 PM
Friday and Saturday: 11:30 AM to 12:00 AM
Sunday: 11:30 AM to 10:00 PM
Serving some delicious classic pub food and Australian dishes, The Royal at the Waterfront in East Perth is one of our favourite hangout spots. The best part is the restaurant is dog-friendly, so I get to bring my Cookie with me all the time!
They have water containers available in the alfresco area, so my dog had his own drink while I was enjoying my oysters and Chardonnay wine. The calamari I ordered was also really good, but the serving was a bit small, so take that in mind when ordering.
The restaurant is right by Claisebrook Cove, and the beautiful waters of Claisebrook might be too tempting for your pup, so make sure to keep an eye out for them! We don’t want them suddenly jumping into the water.
Pro Tip: They accept walk-ins, but I recommend booking a table in advance on their website above. They get really busy since Claisebrook Cove is also a pretty well-known tourist spot in the city.
Mister Walker Restaurant
Location: 80 S Perth Esplanade, South Perth
Website: https://www.mrwalker.com.au/
Contact details: +61 8 9367 1699, [email protected]
Operating hours: Monday to Sunday: 8:00 AM to 11:30 PM
If you’re looking for a delicious seafood platter, there’s no better place to go than Mister Walker Restaurant in South Perth. Everything I ate here was mouthwateringly good, from fresh oysters and lemon chilli squid to grilled prawns and Shark bay bugs.
The restaurant is next to the water, so I had a really nice view while eating at the outdoor dining tables. I also saw some dolphins on the water, which made the experience even better than it already was.
The staff also really take being dog-friendly seriously. The lady who served me immediately brought out a dog dish when she saw my dog and was constantly smiling at him, which made Cookie feel more comfortable in his surroundings.
Pro Tip: They often invite local singers on weekends for live music! If you’re interested, make sure to follow their Instagram account above for updates!
The Partisan
Location: Claisebrook Cove, 22/60 Royal St
Website: https://www.thepartisanperth.com/
Contact details: (08) 9221 8459
Operating hours: Monday to Sunday: 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM
The Partisan is another restaurant you shouldn’t miss when exploring Claisebrook Cove with your pup. This beautiful restaurant serves some really good Mediterranean dishes and brunch meals that you can enjoy with your pup on its stunning waterside terrace.
The restaurant’s terrace was pretty expansive, and my dog had plenty of space to lay. Some dogs were also wandering around the terrace since they had plenty of space to walk around and play.
I opted for some classic brunch meals instead of their Mediterranean ones since I came there for breakfast. I really enjoyed the sausage and bacon on the big breakfast and the mango banana smoothie I ordered, so try that if you’re not sure what to order.
Pro Tip: They do happy hour from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. At this time, you can enjoy a glass of their house wines for only $7, any pint from their tap selection for $9, and an espresso martini and Aperol spritz for only $12.
General Public Food Co
Location: 5/19 Doric St, Scarborough
Website: https://generalpublicfoodco.com.au/
Contact details: 08 9245 1096, [email protected]
Operating hours:
Monday to Thursday: 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM
Friday and Saturday: 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM
Sunday: 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM
Pizza is one of those foods that won’t fail us, whether it’s for a laid-back day out with yourself or a fun party with friends. And one of my friends and my favourite places to drop by for some sourdough pizza is General Public Food Co in Scarborough.
Their beef brisket pizza and prawn pizza were both equally lovely for us, but some might find the prawn flavour overpowering, so pick a different one if you’re not a huge fan of prawns. The crust was also extra crispy, which we really loved.
We brought our dogs with us, so we were seated outdoors, which wasn’t really much of a big deal since the outdoor area had a pretty laid-back atmosphere. They also gave us water bowls before serving the Pupsicles (dog ice cream) we ordered.
Pro Tip: If you’re looking for a dog-friendly restaurant closer to the city, General Public Food Co. has a location in Inglewood. The location serves equally good pizza, so you don’t have to travel all the way to Scarborough if you don’t feel like it.
Slate Café
Location: 4 Dulwich St, Bennett Springs
Website: http://www.slatecafe.com.au/
Contact details: 0481 788 336, [email protected]
Operating hours:
Friday: 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Saturday and Sunday: 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
A cafe can’t be friendlier to dogs than Slate Cafe. I mean, how can you beat an enclosed dog play area, a dog treat truck, and Puppuccinos on top of great food and great coffee for the fur parents?
The dogs’ play area was pretty huge, so my pooch had a great time running around and playing with other dogs. It’s also separate from the kids’ play area, which was amazing since one of my biggest concerns is Cookie accidentally hurting a little kid.
The menu isn’t that huge, but they have most of our favourite brunch items, so it didn’t really bother me that much. The pulled pork Benedict is an absolute must-try, and I won’t stop recommending it to anyone visiting Slate.
Pro Tip: Slate Café hosts lots of play dates for specific dog breeds. Check their website above to see when you can bring your own pooch for a fun little gathering!
Lot One Kitchen
Location: Lot 1/46 Angove Dr, Hillarys
Website: https://www.lotonekitchen.com.au/
Contact details: 0408 807 448, [email protected]
Operating hours: Monday to Sunday: 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM
Located close to Hillarys Dog Beach, Lot One Kitchen is the perfect destination to recharge with your pooch after a fun morning at the beach. After coming here once, it quickly became a part of my routine every time I visit the beach.
I’ve tried a couple of their meals since I’ve been here several times, but the brisket benny is definitely one of my favourites. Their brisket is always tender, so even their brisket burger is a great choice for those who prefer buns over toasted sourdough.
Dogs are allowed in the outdoor seating area, and I was able to ask for a bowl of water for my dog since it was pretty warm outside. I haven’t gone here during the chilly season, but a friend who did said they have some blankets to keep dogs warm.
Pro Tip: Call them in advance and reserve a table! The restaurant is pretty small, so the first time I went, I wasn’t able to secure a table and was forced to order some takeaway.
The Guildford Hotel
Website: https://www.theguildfordhotel.com.au/
Contact details: (08) 9221 5436, [email protected]
Operating hours:
Monday to Thursday: 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM
Friday and Saturday: 11:00 AM to 12:00 AM
Sunday: 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM
The Guildford Hotel hides more charm inside its stunning 19th-century building. From great food to great staff, the restaurant’s an absolute gem that you have to visit at least once when you’re in the northern part of the city.
I was honestly quite surprised at how relaxed the restaurant’s atmosphere is since it looks very elegant. I was quite worried they wouldn’t let me bring my dog, but one of the guys there was really lovely and assisted us to the beer garden.
I can’t get enough of the cheeseburger spring roll, so make sure to order one on your visit! They also have lots of great cocktails (the French martini being one of the best I’ve ever had) that you have to try!
Pro Tip: They have a bottomless BBQ on the last Thursday of the month, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. You can enjoy bottomless BBQ and free-flowing house wine and beer for 2 hours, so check it out!
Odyssea
Location: 187 Challenger Parade, City Beach
Website: http://www.odysseacitybeach.com.au/
Contact details: (08) 9385 7979
Operating hours: Monday to Sunday: 7:00 AM to 10:45 PM; 11:45 AM to late
Few can contest Odyssea when it comes to stunning views since it boasts an uninterrupted view of the beautiful Indian Ocean. Add the fact that it’s dog-friendly; it’s really hard not to fall in love with this restaurant.
We sat on the sea deck since that’s where they allow dogs. But even if they were to allow dogs indoors, we’d probably still choose the outdoor seating area since it has a better view of the ocean and gives us a more breezy lunch experience.
The salmon I had was amazing. It was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The oysters were another highlight of our meal because of how fresh and tasty they were.
Pro Tip: Odyssea can host up to 200 seated guest events. If you’re interested in hosting a private function in the restaurant, you can enquire on their website above.
The Shorehouse
Website: https://shorehouse.com.au/
Contact details: (08) 9286 4050, [email protected]
Operating hours: Monday to Sunday: 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM
Another restaurant offering stunning water views, The Shorehouse is one of the best dog-friendly restaurants for those who live in the western part of the city. It’s located right by Swanbourne Beach, so you can simply drop by after a dip.
This is an upscale restaurant, so the price is a bit on the higher side, but it’s definitely worth it! Everything I’ve had here, from the seafood to the vegetables, was fresh and rich in flavour, so I’d absolutely be more than willing to pay a premium again.
The terrace was quite breezy since it was directly across the beach, but the staff gave us blankets to keep us warm. My dog also didn’t seem to mind since he had a huge space to walk around and a beautiful view to ogle on.
Pro Tip: Not sure what to order? The Shorehouse Bloody Mary oysters is one of the best seafood dishes I’ve had in Perth, so you might want to give that a try!
Little Stove
Location: Shop 97/103 Harris St, Bicton
Website: https://www.littlestovecafe.com/
Contact details: (08) 9319 9811, [email protected]
Operating hours: Monday to Sunday: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
For a light brunch, Little Stove in Bicton is always a safe choice. They’ve been around for almost 15 years, and I’ve visited them countless times, but I’ve yet to have a bad experience with them.
It’s a pretty small place, but it has enough seats outdoors to host several customers and their dogs. They also allow me to borrow a bowl for Cookie’s treats every time we come over, so we can enjoy our own meals together.
One of the main reasons I come back here despite it being quite a drive from home is because they have one of the best matcha cups in the city. It has a grassy, green flavour that isn’t really overpowering, which I enjoy a lot.
Pro Tip: They have really good cakes! Give them a try whenever you come to visit.
