Finding a dance studio that balances proper technique with a truly supportive environment can feel like a massive challenge.
That’s why Betty Bentley Dance Academy stands out, having taught foundational and advanced styles across Perth since 1959.
I dropped by their Willetton studio to chat with Donna, the principal, and the welcoming atmosphere was obvious right away. They really focus on building confidence alongside coordination.
They even offer an officially licensed preschool programme to get little ones moving early on.
The only real downside is that they enforce strict uniform and grooming rules, so your child will need a proper classical ballet bun and specific footwear after the initial grace period. It can get a bit pricey sorting out all the gear.

Highly recommend
We’ve been with Betty Bentley Dance for over 10 years and it’s been such a wonderful journey. The teachers are talented, dedicated, and truly care about every student’s growth both in skill and confidence. My kids have not only developed strong dance technique, but also resilience, teamwork, and a love for performing. The supportive, family-like atmosphere makes it a place where they’ve felt encouraged and inspired year after year. Highly recommend!

Wonderful dance school
Betty Bentley is a wonderful dance school with great teachers that care about their students and want them to become the best dancers they can. They strive to be professional in all they do and pride themselves at their end of year dance concerts. There is always a friendly face to talk to about any questions that you may have and has a very welcoming atmosphere for all new and existing students

2. House of Honeys

- Website: https://www.houseofhoneys.com.au/
- Address: 7 Old Aberdeen Place
- Contact: 0466 439 460
- Hours: 24 hours
House of Honeys helps you build true confidence on the dance floor. They focus on building a supportive, judgment-free space that empowers adults through movement.
The community vibe here is incredibly warm, whether you’re learning high-energy commercial jazz, heels, or floor work. The teachers have over 20 years of real industry experience, which is a testament to their expertise.
I actually chatted with a regular student there who told me the sessions completely transformed her self-esteem. You even get thrilling opportunities to perform in live shows or professional video shoots.
But you should look elsewhere if you want classical ballet or traditional partner styles, as their weekly timetable lacks those entirely.
Customer Reviews:
I literally plan my weeks around these classes
House of Honeys is the best dance studio in Perth hands down. Not only are you taught by the amazing and professional teachers, Hayley and Claudia, you are also welcomed into a supportive community like no other. I literally plan my weeks around these classes because it’s an empowering and fun way to learn dance. I would encourage anyone that is sitting on the fence just try out a beginner class. I promise you’ll love it ❤️ and the studio is so so beautiful!

I love that they offer great flexibility by providing both structured six-week basics courses and casual drop-in timetables to suit busy lifestyles.
Joining these active sessions is an amazing social hobby, just like booking local cooking classes or creative pottery classes.
Just keep in mind that the studio closes completely on Sundays, so you can’t book any weekend sessions on that specific day.
Customer Reviews:
Really inclusive and supportive environment
I did the 6 weeks heels basics course with dance workshop and it was amazing. The teacher Sarah was so supportive and encouraging and really guided our technique and listened to our needs as a class. Couldn’t have asked for a better teacher and made it so enjoyable, highly recommend trying. The course catered for all levels and really inclusive and supportive environment.

I would highly encourage anyone to try this class
I really enjoyed Rafaela’s beginners heels class. Not only was it a fantastic workout, but the atmosphere, the good vibes, the music, the dance moves were incredible. Rafael gave me the confidence to step forward into my sexy goddess energy and it was a liberating experience. I would highly encourage anyone to try this class and bring that sexy back ❤️

I tried one of their Wednesday night social sessions recently and loved how welcoming the energy felt. They have a massive hardwood floor and even a fully licensed bar.
As a bonus, students enrolled in their structured courses get free entry to their popular Friday night social dance events.
However, you have to plan your outfit carefully because they enforce a strict smart casual dress code that completely bans sneakers, plain t-shirts, and workwear.

Highly recommended
Highly recommended. The learning pace is good and instructors are patient. Excellent place to go for those who are shy and new to dancing.
A great selling point is that partners are not required and social dancing is available after lessons to solidify what was taught in class.

A great place to build a strong Hip Hop foundation
A great dance studio with exceptional teachers and a strong sense of community!
During my two-year stay in Australia, I decided to take a Hip Hop class to start a new hobby and explore a new sport.
I truly appreciated the openness and warmth of the teachers and students. After just one class, I knew I wanted to continue and ended up practicing there for the rest of my stay in Australia.
Wonderful people and a great place to build a strong Hip Hop foundation!
