Pros
- Can teach simple to luxurious meals
- Lots of cuisines to choose from
- Many class slots available
- Unable to cater to all dietary needs
Cons
- Doesn’t take AMEX and Diners for manually assisted bookings
- Some classes are pricier than others
Salt & Company is one of our top picks for your dream cooking classes in Perth.
We like their flexibility with what they teach. Whether it’s a simple meal at home or an extravagant feast for many, they can guide you through the cuisine of your choice.
Some of the options are Japanese Izakaya (tapas style), Thai Village Food, French Provinciale, and so on.
Beyond the recipes, they’ll teach the fundamentals, techniques, and purpose of your key ingredients. By doing so, we believe the students can make every dish their own in a creative way.
Their calendar, which can be viewed online, also seems to have a lot of slots. It’s best to check each date to find your preferred topic or cuisine because almost each day is different.
We recommend that you book early to avoid any problems. Some of their classes may be pricier than average, so planning seems essential to prepare financially.
And while they can accommodate certain dietary requirements, they told us this isn’t possible with every dish. We advise emailing them with any dietary restrictions at the time of your reservation.
Conveniently, they also accept various payment options online, including cash, credit card, and direct deposit. However, this excludes American Express and Diners for manually assisted bookings.
For enquiries, note that Salt & Company is open only 4 days a week. They’re closed on Mondays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Pros
- Offers beginner and professional classes
- Kids from 4 years old can enrol
- Affordable pricing
- Open every day
Cons
- Stringent payment rules
- Doesn’t give refunds
The Cooking Professor is one of our most well-rounded options, offering cooking classes in Perth.
We appreciate that they offer amateur and professional cooking classes as well as workshops for adults, children, and corporate groups.
People as young as 4 years old can learn here! Because of this, almost anyone can explore their interest in cooking.
This school has a bunch of cuisines to choose from, too. Some of these are Chinese dumplings, Balinese flavours, French dishes, Indian banquet classics, and more.
In addition, their hands-on cooking classes allow everyone to form small teams. We find this valuable to encourage collaboration while having fun with each dish.
Their cooking classes also cost $130 per person. We believe this is a good price, since this is a tad cheaper than the average in the city.
If you’re booked into a particular class and wish to change to another, we appreciate that they can still accommodate your request. You just have to let them know at least a week before the class starts.
Also, note that they have strict policies regarding payment and don’t issue refunds. If you’re unable to take the classes, we suggest having a friend of yours take them instead.
The Cooking Professor is available to answer queries daily if you’re interested.

Pros
- Ideal for vegans and enthusiasts
- Cosy classes with few people
- Also offers vegan retreats
- Can reply within 1 day
- Some profits are donated to animals in need
Cons
- May have too many dishes to learn
- Open only few days a week
We believe vegans and food enthusiasts might be interested in taking Ayarah Plant Based Cuisine’s cooking classes in Perth.
They’re known for their hands-on cooking classes and vegan nutrition workshops. We find these handy to educate people on all aspects of plant-based living and health.
Plus, we like that they keep the classes to a maximum of 8 people. This way, the instructor can better focus on each student’s progress.
Yet, it’s best to keep your expectations in check, since not every student will experience cooking all of their 60 dishes.
Another unique offering we saw from them is their all-vegan cooking retreats. Participants will spend 3 nights and 4 days exploring the Margaret River region.
For us, this is like going on vacation because guests can enjoy beaches, caves, bush walking, hiking, wineries, markets, galleries, and more! This is in addition to learning around 40 recipes along the way.
Not only that, but we also appreciate that they donate profits to help save injured, endangered, and orphaned animals. This, in our opinion, makes the experiences more worthwhile.
If you’re planning to take classes at Ayarah, reaching them is easy since they usually respond within 24 hours. They’re also located 40 minutes from Perth’s CBD, so take note of this if you’re driving.

Pros
- Can take beginner to expert cooks
- Teaches numerous cuisines
- Simplifies all the recipes
- Reasonable rates
- Can answer queries every day
Cons
- Occasional miscommunications over the phone
- Has more students than others
Urban Provider has the most experience in providing cooking classes in Perth. We’re also amazed that they can entertain all levels of cooking ability, from beginner to advanced.
Classes are also limited to 10 to 12 people. This is slightly more than other cooking schools accept, but it still doesn’t seem like an excessive number for us.
In a way, we think that having 10 people in a class can encourage questions and provide more insights than classes with fewer students.
This school’s inclusivity with different cuisines and dietary needs also looks excellent, in our opinion. Some of their menu items involve Italian, Arabic, Mexican, Greek, and Italian food, as well as gourmet vegetarian or vegan food.
Though the variety of options may appear overwhelming, a few of the clients we spoke with expressed how simple it is to prepare what they’ve been taught.
Their classes cost around $140 to $160, which seems pretty reasonable for us as well. This range is on par with most schools offering cooking classes in the city.
If you’re curious about them, Urban Provider can answer your questions daily from 8 am to 6 pm.
Their staff, however, may not be able to answer all questions over the phone, which has caused miscommunication with a previous prospect. For detailed answers, we recommend reaching them via email instead.

Pros
- Best for Italian food enthusiasts
- Casual learning environment
- Has among the cheapest prices
- Uses fresh, homegrown ingredients
Cons
- Has limited slots
- Closed on weekends
Those who are looking for something different may be interested in taking The Little Italian School’s cooking classes in Perth.
As a treat for European or Italian food enthusiasts, this school offers classes at the owner’s Italian farmhouse kitchen.
It’s worth mentioning that the classes here are family-run. Plus, they either use fresh ingredients from their own chickens and homegrown spinach or acquire them from local suppliers.
Due to these reasons, we feel students can learn a lot about Italian food in a more authentic way.
Moreover, the owner told us that they aim for their classes to be relaxing rather than hectic. With this approach, we believe students are more likely to enjoy the classes since there’s little to no pressure.
We also love that each class costs $125 per person, which is among the most affordable prices we’ve seen in the city. Children are also welcome to join classes for $100 each.
Because of this, we understand why a lot of their classes are easily sold out. It’s best to reserve a slot early to avoid any hassle.
If you want to get in touch, The Little Italian School is open 5 days a week, except for Fridays and Sundays.
