Let’s start it off with Duotone Coffee, a cute cafe you’ll find in East Perth. They’re one of the more unique options I’ve visited, as they’ve designed their place to look like those famous coffee spots commonly found in Melbourne.
What I love about this cafe is its minimalist style, which offers awesome vibes while I’m sipping one of their matcha drinks. If you’ll be visiting here for the first time, I highly recommend you try their matcha latte.
I can’t get enough of its rich, creamy texture and balanced flavour, which perfectly combine sweetness and earthiness. Aside from that, they also serve matcha smoothies, which taste so good during the summer.
Pro tip: Follow their Instagram so you can quickly learn about their latest deals and creations. They always have some awesome events lined up, like their $1 espressos on Black Friday.

If you’re in the mood for some Korean dessert, look no further than Hanabing. This delightful spot is all about bringing us Perthites the amazing desserts popular in South Korea, like Bingsu ice cream, bubble tea, and gelato.
These desserts come in a rich variety of flavours, with matcha being among them. After indulging in their menu multiple times (for research purposes, of course), I can confidently say their matcha bingsu is the best.
This dessert features finely shaved ice blended with rich matcha powder, creating a creamy and refreshing treat. Topped with red beans and other delicious ingredients, it’s definitely every matcha lover’s dream.

Aside from enjoying fine Korean desserts, I’m also a huge fan of Japanese sweets. Let me introduce you to Kumo Desserts, a trendy dessert shop that’s named after the Japanese word kumo, which means “cloud” in English.
This name is perfect because it captures the airy, fluffy texture of their signature desserts. This is especially true when it comes to their Matchamisu, which is a delightful twist on the classic Italian dessert.
Imagine layers of matcha-infused mascarpone cream and soft ladyfinger biscuits soaked in matcha syrup. The result is a perfect harmony of bittersweet and creamy flavours that I just can’t get enough of.
Pro tip: Please be aware that Kumo Desserts operates strictly on a “first come, first serve” basis, so making reservations isn’t an option. To avoid the hassle of long lines, it’s best to avoid dining there at peak times, specifically around 2 PM and 7 PM.

I may be sensing a pattern here, but the matcha phenomenon is definitely making waves across all kinds of desserts! This time we have Whisk Creamery, a fantastic gelato shop located in Perth’s vibrant nightlife hub, Northbridge.
What stands out about this place is the huge variety of matcha desserts it offers, including matcha lattes, sandwiches, and cheesecakes. My favourite, without a doubt, is their Matcha Green Tea Gelato.
True to the essence of gelato, it boasts a smooth, rich, and milky texture that perfectly balances the matcha’s natural earthy bitterness. I love customising it with toppings, like custard and Nutella, to add an extra layer of indulgence and variety.

Whenever I’m in the mood for some yoghurt, my go-to place is Hey! I Am Yogost. Located in Northbridge, this vibrant and inviting store is dedicated to serving up the freshest, all-natural yoghurt drinks in the city.
For my fellow matcha lovers, I highly recommend their matcha mochi. This delightful drink is a blend of vanilla and matcha-flavoured yoghurt topped with soft serve ice cream and a drizzle of matcha powder, giving it that rich, earthy flavour we all crave.
If you prefer something a bit sweeter, you should try the matcha red bean yogurt. It’s similar to the matcha mochi, but instead of soft serve ice cream, it comes with a few very sweet red beans added to it, offering a delicious twist on the original.
Pro tip: You can skip the waiting line and enjoy your yoghurt drinks as soon as you arrive by ordering through their mobile app. The app also allows you to join their loyalty program, enabling you to earn fantastic rewards with every purchase.

Atlas is my top choice whenever I want to enjoy a meal with a matcha latte. Located in the historic Atlas Building on Hay St., this cafe offers a huge variety of breakfast and brunch dishes, making it a perfect spot to catch up with my friends on weekends.
In my opinion, their matcha latte is among the best I’ve tasted. Crafted with high-quality matcha powder, it delivers a rich, earthy flavour and creamy texture that has made it one of my favourites.
They also offer a variety of other matcha-infused treats that are worth trying. Their matcha smoothie, featuring a refreshing blend of matcha, banana, and milk, is definitely a must-try.

For times when I want to brew matcha tea at home, my first destination would be Teassential Tea Store & Brew Bar. Nestled in the historic State Buildings, this store sells a wide variety of tea leaves gathered from all around the world.
The selection of matcha products they have here is simply astounding. Take, for example, my favourite, hojicha latte, which boasts a savoury umami flavour with some hints of sweetness mixed in. It’s not as bitter as your usual matcha powder.
In addition to their tea store, Teassential’s brew bar is the ideal spot to enjoy some delightful matcha creations, especially if brewing your own tea isn’t your thing. I recommend trying their Matcha Yuzu Iced Tea and Matcha Hot Tea Latte.
Pro tip: If you find their store a bit far from home, don’t worry! You can have their matcha products delivered right to your doorstep. Just be sure to place an order of at least $85 to enjoy free delivery.

Tiisch is a bistro I recently visited to celebrate my brother’s homecoming, and I wish I had discovered it sooner! The cosy, light-filled space sets a wonderfully relaxing mood that makes it perfect for any occasion.
Their brunch offerings are fantastic, with a variety of dishes to choose from. A particular matcha treat you shouldn’t miss is their matcha pancakes with rhubarb, vanilla bean gelato, and syrup.
The balance of the earthy matcha with the sweetness of the gelato and syrup is just irresistible. Furthermore, their matcha drinks are equally impressive, with my personal favourite being the classic iced matcha latte.

La Veen Coffee is probably a name you’ve already heard of thanks to it having eight branches in Perth. It’s one of my top picks whenever I want to enjoy a quick drink during my morning commute.
Like many cafes in the city, they offer a fantastic selection of matcha creations. Personally, my go-to is their classic matcha latte. The smooth, rich flavour and vibrant green colour never get old for me.
