Pros
- Specializes in Australian plants
- Offers flexible payment options
- Fun shopping experience
- Wheelchair-accessible parking lot
Cons
- Expensive pricing
- Plant selection is limited to Australian plants
It has been 47 years since Zanthorrea Nursery first opened their doors to the public in 1975. And what started out as a family business grew to be one of Western Australia’s most trusted nurseries.
Its first owner, John Hooper, was a horticulturist, so customers enjoyed accurate and reliable gardening advice from him. This expertise has also been passed down to the younger generations.
In fact, they presently house a certified horticulturist, and the staff is also knowledgeable about the plants they’re growing.
They’ve also been certified by Sustainable Gardening Australia and accredited as a grower by the Nursery Industry Accreditation Scheme Australia (NIASA).
You can find over 600 varieties of Australian plants suited for the Australian environment in their nursery. Unfortunately, we find the Australian selection rather limited.
In any case, growing them would be simple, especially for beginners.
They have a slightly more expensive retail price compared to their competitors. But they make up for it by offering multiple payment options for their customers’ convenience.
We also love that they advocate stress-free and fun shopping. There’s a playground inside the nursery so children can play while parents can take their time shopping.
They don’t have an established cafe, but they do have a small corner where you can drink tea and instant coffee. They have a gift shop as well for those who want to buy environmentally friendly home supplies.

Pros
- Specializes in fruit trees
- Open 24/7
- Women-owned
Cons
- Has no physical location
- Expensive pricing
Perth Mobile started out as a hobby and has since become a stable online fruit tree shop. Their mission is to help families keep an organic edible garden, hence, the focus on fruit trees.
While they don’t presently have a physical location, their website allows for easy browsing and shopping. Their products are well organized and labeled with price tags.
This makes it easy for customers to explore their options and decide on the right ones after.
If you can’t find what you’re looking for, you can request a specific fruit tree, and they will find it for you.
Their selection ranges from ordinary to rare types of fruit trees, which makes their plants expensive.
Nevertheless, they offer multiple payment options, including Afterpay. Under this option, you’re allowed to make your payments by installment every two weeks.
They also offer free delivery for a minimum order of $50. Returns are also allowed provided it is made within 24 hours after purchase and the damage is proven to be on the seller’s end.
We especially love their personalized service. They can help you grow your trees through their planting service, which costs $25 per plant.
Their aftercare services make an excellent follow-through as well. They include pruning, adding fertilizers, and treating diseases and pests.

Pros
- Wide range of plants
- Great value for money
Cons
- Some plants are not in their healthiest condition
- Not all of their plants are affordable
This family-owned business has been providing plants and plant care tips to the Perth community for over 40 years now. In fact, The Gardener’s is one of the biggest nurseries on our list.
True to its name, this gardeners’ hub offers not only an exciting selection of plants and fruit-bearing trees but also indoor and outdoor ornaments!
Here you can find Bali-style handicrafts that go well with their tropical plants. You can also find garden additions like water fountains and ponds that can complete your dream garden.
A lot of outdoor furniture is also available in their shop. Their selection includes a bar setting and wooden benches.
We also love that visiting this nursery feels like taking a family trip. The place is huge, so families and friends can enjoy bonding and strolling around as they shop.
However, since it’s big, elderly guests might struggle to walk long distances inside the nursery.
But kids can enjoy the playground while their parents shop. Refreshments and ice cream are also available inside, which are perfect if you visit them during the summer.
Their prices are usually affordable, but depending on the type of plants or the size and design of the ornaments, they can be out of someone’s budget.

Pros
- Family-run
- Specializes in tropical plants
- Has online store with convenient payment option
Cons
- Open on weekends only
- Expensive pricing for their rare plants
Although Australia is not known for its tropical plants, Coast Road Palms ensures that their beauty is brought to Perth.
This nursery offers a variety of tropical plants that the owners have personally cared for over the past 35 years.
As a family-run business, they house two certified horticulturists and one agriculturist. We love that they work together to provide professional gardening and plant care services to their clients.
Owing to this credibility, they’ve managed to keep a steady roster of loyal clients.
However, walking around their nursery might feel a little intimidating especially if it’s your first time.
Aside from the fact that it’s big, the palm trees and the bamboo covering much of the area can make you feel like you’re in a real wild forest.
In any case, these big guys definitely provide shade and fresh air to their guests.
Not much can be seen inside aside from a few dinosaur statues and real birds, so we don’t think children will enjoy strolling around this nursery that much.
They’re also open only on weekends, which makes them less accessible and available compared to their competitors. Those who can’t make it during the weekend will have to call to book an appointment on weekdays.
They cater to landscaping projects, but most of their profit comes from selling plants through pickup or delivery. Since they sell plants that are rare in Australia, clients should expect to pay a higher price.
5. Blooming Nursery

Pros
- Wide range of plants
- Convenient payment options
- Affordable plants
Cons
- Long drive from the metro
- Plants aren’t properly labeled
- Rude owner
From native Australian plants to exotic plants, Blooming Nursery has them all. Customers can enjoy this exciting selection of plants on their 10-acre land.
The drive from the metro can be long, but the wide range of plants they offer definitely makes it worthwhile. Visiting customers might also want to wear their hats or bring their umbrellas, as most of the area is an open space.
Customers can choose from two main categories of plants: fruit trees and ornamental plants.
Those who are looking for indoor or smaller plants will enjoy their selection of bonsais and succulents. Herbs are also available in their catalog.
We love that most of the staff are knowledgeable about their plants, but if you chance upon a less experienced member, they can’t accurately identify the plants.
In fact, some customers note issues with mislabeling of plants.
Be sure to confirm the plants you’re getting, as they also don’t offer to transport the plants back even if the mistake was made on their part.
Additionally, the owner’s rudeness is a recurring issue among their customers.
We still think they’re worth checking out, as most of their plants are affordable and they offer flexible payment options as well.
