Top 7 Optometrists in Perth

How We Picked Reliable Optometrists in Perth

Expertise

Optometrists are still doctors who require the proper credentials to practise their field. We also chose optometrists with several years of experience.

Availability

Appointments can be tricky to schedule at times, and if you’re in dire need to replace your glasses, it’s essential to find a provider who can get you a schedule quickly.

Eyewear Collection

You can still be stylish while maintaining clear vision. We chose optometrists who have a wide collection of eyewear for you to choose from.

Customer Service

Customer service from the optometrist’s office will make a difference in how your appointment goes. We chose stores with a good record in customer service.

Cost

Quality eyewear should not break the bank. We chose optometrists who offer good prices or have payment plans to make it easier for you.

Pros

  • Wide selection to choose from
  • Quick and thorough checkups
  • Optometrists explain well
  • Wide range of services
  • Accepts health funds

Cons

  • Inconsistent-quality customer service
  • Appointments can run late or be delayed

Laubman & Park has a wide range of services related to eye health, including multiple kinds of eye tests and fitting for eyeglasses and contact lenses.

The Booragoon location specialises in myopia control, IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) dry eye treatment, and eyeglasses and contact lens fitting. However, they can also conduct other tests like astigmatism tests and digital retinal scans.

Most of their customers are happy with the selection of frames they can choose from, which comes from brands like Armani Exchange, Ralph Lauren, Tiffany, RayBan, Versace, and Prada.

These brands can be expensive, but the fortunate thing is that they accept health funds. However, it would be limited to selected frames, contact lenses, and sunglasses.

When it comes to their customer service, we’ve received inconsistent feedback from their customers. While some claimed that the staff were helpful in assisting them, others reported that they found the staff to be rude.

Customers also told us that Laubman & Pank seemed to be understaffed, which led to conflicts in scheduling and some appointments running late or ending up delayed by a few hours.

A few customers had to wait for a few hours before it was finally their turn, and these same customers—to no surprise—said they wouldn’t come back despite the wide selection and reasonable prices.

Pros

  • Can work with children
  • Wide selection of frames to choose from
  • Friendly and helpful staff
  • Great customer service

Cons

  • Can be expensive
  • Only carries 5 brands for eyewear
  • No payment plans

Eye C Optometry is an independent optometry clinic, which means they’re not tied to suppliers. This is a plus to us, as this translates as the clinic not having to push sales or encourage you to buy the most expensive options.

What customers like best about them is their customer service, and everything is superb from the clinic staff to the optometrist herself.

The optometrist, Dr. Sonal Shah, has a good record with clients of all ages. She’s able to work well with children who need eye tests or fittings, and her older clients appreciate how thorough she is during the consultation.

Their clinic only carries five brands, namely Lindberg, LGR, Volte Face, Anne & Valentin, and Kilsgaard, which lean towards the more expensive side. They do, however, have a wide range of frames to select from.

The additional bonus in buying your eyewear from them is that you’ll get free glasses repair for life, whether it will be for adjustment, realignment, or the replacement of nose pads.

However, they don’t offer payment plans or accept health funds, which means you’ll most likely pay for your purchases out-of-pocket.

We suggest that you call them and ask about the usual range for the services or brand you’re interested in, just so you won’t be too surprised during your visit.

Pros

  • Great customer service
  • Friendly optometrists
  • Optometrists help you in selecting
  • Good quality frames and glasses

Cons

  • No fittings for contact lenses
  • No payment plans

Knapp Optometrists was first established in 1895, and up until this day, they still have a successful business running.

This is because of their focus on providing not only premium glasses and frames but also a high level of care when it comes to conducting eye tests and other eye care services.

Customers appreciated how thorough the optometrists were when it came to conducting their eye tests and explaining their results to them, which helped them understand their condition better.

Their optometrists even go the extra mile by helping you find a frame that’s suitable for your face shape if you’re having trouble. We made sure to ask customers whether they only suggest the most expensive frames, and fortunately, they don’t.

However, be sure that you’re set on getting eyeglasses, sunglasses, or sports glasses because they don’t do fittings for contact lenses, nor do they have them available.

If you’re specifically looking for contact lenses, please look at other options on this list.

Another con is that they don’t have payment plans, which means you’ll most likely pay by cash or card. They do have HICAPS available, and if that’s something that can make your eyewear more affordable, then you can take advantage of that here.

Pros

  • Affordable eyewear
  • Wide selection of frames
  • 30-day return period
  • Accepts health funds
  • Can order online

Cons

  • Frames not of the best quality
  • Some complaints on customer service

Bailey Nelson Optometrist is not your typical optometrist. While you can visit them in their location, you can also order new glasses from their online store if you already have an existing record with them.

All you’ll have to do is select the frame of your choice and attach your prescription and pupil distance if you have it, but if not, they can always check their own records.

Should you visit one of their locations to get an eye test and assessment, it’s quick to set an appointment, and their optometrists are generally helpful. Not only that, their Perth location is super convenient, as it is located right in the CBD.

There were some minor complaints about customer service, but this was mostly with the sales staff and not the optometrists, so we aren’t too worried about it.

All of their glasses come with a free 30-day return if you find that they came at the wrong grade or don’t fit you well. However, items on sale and contact lenses are exempt from this.

Their frames are affordable and you can get a new pair for as low as $149, but a few have complained that their frames aren’t very durable and they needed to purchase a new pair after a few months.

Overall, we think they’re a good choice if you need a pair of affordable glasses, but if you’re looking for a pair that will last you a long time, other options on this list may be better.

Pros

  • Great customer service
  • Friendly and helpful optometrists
  • Good prices
  • Has express service
  • Accepts health funds

Cons

  • Limited eye tests given
  • Limited selection for frames

SpexDesign Optometrist is a small family-run clinic, and their optometrists are passionate in helping people find the best prescription eyewear fit for them.

What customers liked best was how easy it was to set an appointment even at a short notice, and as an added bonus, they even have an express service where you can have your glasses ready after just an hour.

They also accept multiple health funds, listing over 24 on their website! If in the rare case you can’t find your health fund on the list, you can give them a call to enquire.

Since they are a small clinic, the range of eye tests they can conduct is limited, so we encourage you to give them a call and ask about the specific test you need. They do, however, conduct the necessary eye tests to give you a prescription.

They do carry 14 brands for their frames, but their selection for each is limited. Don’t worry. With that number of brands available, it will still be enough for you to choose from.

They also provide aftercare, repairs and adjustments to your glasses when you need them, and some of these can even be free of charge!

If you’re in the North Perth area, we can definitely recommend them for your optometry needs.
