Fifty years in the game and Mike Murphy Removals is still ticking along steadily. Their track record in handling furniture for domestic and office relocations is especially glowing, with clients getting their goods delivered on time and in one piece.

The handy part is, they pack and move around specialty items of all sizes. Think piano (perhaps yours needs some tuning?), aquarium, pool tables, antiques, and granite/glass tables.

The movers themselves are a perk. If you need a punctual crew (even for urgent requests) whose superb sense of humour can lighten the mood, they fit the bill.

On the paperwork end, all moves are fully insured, pickup and delivery included.

Not running on Sundays is a minor hiccup, though. Most of the competition runs around the clock, after all.

Cancelling within 24 hours also incurs a minimum fee, which could be inconvenient for last-minute changes.

Fortunately, their regular pricing sits well for Perth.

Totally Worth It

The team took great care with my belongings, individually wrapping every item and managing a tough one-bedroom move with a steep ramp and long walks back and forth. I’m speaking from experience when I say Got The Moves doesn’t rip folks off. Their prices are pretty fair for Perth.

That’s only made better by their reliability. I got my table and paintings delivered as planned and unscathed, a sentiment echoed by other clients, mainly those who hired them for bulky item deliveries.

Communication is also efficient, since every job is assigned to a dedicated coordinator. In my case, I got Markus, the boss, so I didn’t get bounced around from one agent to another.

How they handled my flat worked in their favour as well. I didn’t see a single scratch on the walls and floor.

A few clients, however, didn’t like that Got The Moves sent them a smaller team and truck (if you want a bigger vehicle, these truck rental companies can help). “It slowed the pace,” was their general complaint.

There’s also a minimum two-hour charge, which isn’t ideal for smaller jobs.

Moving heavy furniture up and down a flight of stairs is a feat that 2 Easy Removals often gets praised for. In fact, most clients we bumped into live in properties with intricate and awkward staircases.

Their handling of last-minute bookings is another plus, though most suggest DMing them on WhatsApp for a more seamless transaction.

The Furniture Man is ace for managing pickups and deliveries across multiple locations. That includes known furniture stores in Perth, such as IKEA, The Good Guys, and Harvey Norman.

Even long hauls are handled nicely. Prices are fixed, so you can avoid unexpected costs for delivering items across Western Australia.

I also like that their manpower depends on the number or size of the item(s). You’re not paying extra people you don’t need, and you won’t scramble for extra hands last-minute.

The same thing goes for their trucks; the fleet has 4.5-ton and 8-ton vehicles geared with lifts, allowing them to move furniture efficiently.

As for the general pricing, it makes sense for Perth. The only issue I see is that they’ve had delays before, not many, but still worth flagging.

The company is relatively newer too, with around 5 years of run-time. We got other picks kicking about for decades.

Speaking of decade-old companies, Brilliance Removals opened in 2015 and is still going strong. Better yet, their services are stamped with AFRA and ISO certifications.

Not that it’s shocking, given their consistent record of getting things done swiftly and safely. Some clients were even stoked about supposed half-day jobs being cut down to around 9–10 hours.

Brilliance is equipped for interstate deliveries as well, thanks to its fleet of 8- and 10-ton trucks.

Unfortunately, there have been some bumps and scrapes in the past, some of them literal. A few clients, for instance, moaned about slight furniture damage.

There were also times when they didn’t pick up calls instantly, leading to a series of follow-ups.

On the bright side, you can hire them for cleanup solutions.

Better yet, they rarely push past Perth’s averages despite the “per hour” setup.
