5 Best Bicycle Shops in Perth

How We Picked the Best Bicycle Shops in Perth

Product variety

We evaluated if these bicycle shops carry a wide variety of bicycles, safety gear, and accessories.

Product quality

Aside from variety, we also evaluated if their products are of good quality and are proven to be genuine.

Customer satisfaction

We also rated if their customers are satisfied with their customer service and support. We considered the opinion of their customers on their management, sales staff, and store policies.

Price fairness

The prices these stores demand for their products must be fair given the quality and variety of bicycles they sell.

Pros

  • Creates custom bikes
  • Great customer service
  • Offers bike maintenance services

Cons

  • Unavailable on weekends
  • Limited number of bikes regularly in-stock

Bike Dr. is one of Perth’s well-loved bicycle shops. Their commitment to quality customer service has garnered them respect from many of their customers.

They’ve got a great selection of bikes in their store. Most of their bikes are made by Merida and Velectrix.

A unique offering of Bike Dr. is its made-to-order custom bikes. They price their custom bikes depending on what parts you want to be added, with a bit of a service fee included.

Other products they sell include apparel for biking and bike accessories.

Bike Dr. is also a bike repair and maintenance shop. Their repair services are tiered based on how much service your bike needs.

Simple adjustments cost AUD 65, while a full service can cost you AUD 265.

One thing that customers love about the shop is its excellent customer service. Many stories were shared with us about how efficient the staff is in helping customers with any concerns.

They are knowledgeable about all bikes, from simple city bikes to more complex mountain bikes. Their sales staff knows every bike part, which means they can help you get the bike part you need even if you don’t know its name.

We’d also like to mention their awesome origins. They are a subsidiary of a youth charity named Dismantle.

Most of their profits go to supporting impoverished children all around Perth.

With every transaction you make with Bike Dr., a portion of it will go towards helping a youth in need.

However, a downside of the bicycle shop is that it only keeps a portion of its bikes regularly stocked. You’ll need to wait for announcements or place a reservation for bikes that aren’t regularly stocked in their store.

Their store is also closed on the weekends.

Pros

  • Multiple stores available
  • Many products available
  • Competitive prices

Cons

  • Issues with customer service
  • Problems with after-sales support

99 Bikes is one of Perth’s largest bicycle shops. Their competitive prices and their large catalogue of products make them a favourite among many bikers in the city.

They have many branches spread throughout Perth. Some locations they have a presence in include Joondalup, Osborne Park, Success, and more.

In our opinion, their huge catalogue of products is their biggest strength. Aside from your typical bikes, 99 Bikes also offers e-bikes, scooters, accessories, car racks, and more.

Combining their huge catalogue with multiple branches makes them a highly accessible bicycle shop.

Their huge size also allows them to price their products competitively. 99 Bikes is committed to offering the lowest prices in Perth.

To do this, they have a program called the 5% Best Price Guarantee. Should you find another store selling the same product for a cheaper price, they’ll beat that with a price that’s 5% cheaper.

The bicycle shop also regularly hosts clearance sales. You’re also entitled to special discounts if you join their loyalty program called Club 99.

However, some customers we’ve talked to have had problems with their customer service. According to them, some of the sales staff they’ve encountered weren’t eager to entertain customers and were dismissive of requests for help.

Another downside to 99 Bikes is its after-sales support. Some customers had difficulties contacting them for refunds after they found some defects in their product.

Pros

  • Multiple stores available
  • Many products available
  • Good after-sales support

Cons

  • No delivery services
  • Store visit necessary to know product availability

Trek Bicycle is another major bicycle shop in Perth. They’ve got three branches spread throughout the city, ready to provide quality bikes and accessories.

Their branches are located in the Central Business District, Leederville, and Cannington. Their locations are great for customers thanks to their close proximity to public transportation.

Trek Bicycle is not only a seller of bikes but a maker as well. Most of their products on sale are from their own line.

They are a large company that has the expertise to create many different types of bicycles.

They’ve got a great selection of city bikes, electric bikes, mountain bikes, and more. Most of their bikes on sale can also be customised and modified to better suit the needs of their customers.

A great thing about their customised bikes is that you can order them online. After choosing your preferences, you’ll need to wait at least four weeks, and then they’ll deliver the bike to the nearest branch for you to pick up.

Trek Bicycle also has a sizable list of apparel and accessories available in all their stores.

One thing customers really love about them is their great after-sales support. As long as you have proof that you bought the product from one of their stores, you’ll have no issues getting a replacement from any of their branches in Perth.

Trek Bicycle also actively encourages customers to register bikes they buy from their stores. This is so that they can immediately inform you if they announce a product recall.

However, a downside to the shop is that they have no delivery services in Perth at the moment. All purchases need to be made in one of their stores.

Their website also doesn’t have an accurate tracker on the remaining stocks of their products. You’ll need to visit one of their stores to know if they have the product you’re looking for.

Pros

  • Extensive bike servicing available
  • Sells many renowned bicycle brands
  • Highly knowledgeable and friendly staff

Cons

  • Poor response rate to calls
  • Some products aren’t stocked regularly

Evolution Bikes is one of the newer bicycle shops in Perth, having started only in 2017. Despite their young age, they have proven themselves to be one of the most reliable partners for many bikers in the city.

They have a large store showcasing many of their bikes and other products. A great advantage they have is the large number of brands they offer.

Evolution Bikes has more than 200 bikes in its store, including brands like Merida, Avanti, Brompton, and more.

Most of their bikes are traditional ones, but they also carry electric bikes and electric skateboards. If you’re looking for a good workout, they also have a good selection of indoor training bikes available.

Most customers had a great time shopping for a new bicycle at Evolution Bikes. Many told us that the sales staff of the store are excellent and friendly people.

Their staff is also praised for their extensive knowledge of bikes. One customer told us that the staff was able to answer all their questions easily and gave them useful advice on bike maintenance.

The staff’s excellent service also extends to their bike servicing and maintenance. Evolution Bikes ensures that they are properly stocked with spare parts to cover all possible issues a bike may encounter.

However, the recent global pandemic has taken a huge toll on most of their services. They lack manpower, which means that they can’t always answer every call to their store.

A minor criticism customers also have about Evolution Bikes is their lack of stocks of some of their bikes.

Pros

  • Specialises in high-end and premium bikes
  • Will build your bike even with products bought elsewhere
  • Involved in multiple CSR projects

Cons

  • Issues with customer support
  • Expensive prices

Elite Racing Cycles is a seller of high-quality and premium bikes. Their staff is knowledgeable about different bicycle types and brands.

The store was founded by Mr. Steve Harcourt, an Australian cycling champion. He aims to sell only the best bicycles to its customers so that they may enjoy cycling to the fullest.

They’ve got a great selection of bikes in their store. Aside from conventional bikes, they also have electric bikes and hybrid bikes.

As a premium bicycle shop, most of its products are made by the very best in the bicycle industry like Shimano, Bianchi, Cervelo, Focus, and Kalkhoff.

Their high-quality, premium materials certainly make them one of the best bicycle shops in the city.

They also offer their expertise and skills to help you make your own custom bike. The great thing about this service is that they don’t require you to buy the parts from their store.

You can totally buy each part somewhere else and rely on their skills to assemble the bike for you.

Their business is highly popular among the wealthier residents of Perth.

A huge positive they have as a business is their active involvement in many corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects.

They are a major partner of the MACA Cancer 200 Ride for Research. This is a fundraising bike event that contributes to the funding of cancer research.

Customers who are participants in this event are automatically entitled to many discounts from their store.

A portion of their profits also goes to help the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research. This institution is finding ways to combat the most lethal diseases that affect the people of Western Australia.

However, due to their branding and commitment to premium products, their prices are higher compared to others.

Some customers also have issues with their customer service. One customer felt offended by the way the sales staff talked to them. The customer described the staff as arrogant and rude.
