Why not take a scenic drive through the vineyards? This way, we believe you can enjoy wine tastings for adults and savour delicious local produce for the kids at one of the fine dining restaurants or cafes in the region.

But for this, we highly recommend taking your car for the whole itinerary for ease of exploration. Of course, guided tours and public transportation options are also available if preferred.

Pro tip:

Discover Coastal Adventures at Rockingham

Image from Rockingham

Website: https://rockingham.wa.gov.au/

Address: Rockingham, Western Australia 6168, Australia

Contact details: (08) 9528 0333, [email protected]

Another town we believe is full of marine wonders is the captivating town of Rockingham.

Located just a short drive south of Perth, we like that Rockingham boasts pristine beaches, stunning wildlife encounters, and thrilling water-based activities. This makes it a perfect day trip destination for families, in our opinion.

For the kids, you can go on an unforgettable wildlife adventure at Penguin Island and the Shoalwater Islands Marine Park. Take a ferry ride to the island and witness the adorable penguins in their natural habitat, as well as sea lions, dolphins, and seabirds.

Then, you may also spend quality time with your loved ones by the beach at the Rockingham Foreshore. This is where you can swim, build sandcastles, or enjoy a beachside picnic!

We feel that one of the best things to do here is soak up the coastal ambience as you take a leisurely walk along the boardwalk.

Lastly, you may experience the thrill of encountering wild dolphins in their natural environment on a dolphin cruise. You may bring your binoculars if you please!

Watch as these intelligent creatures swim alongside the boat and perform playful acrobatics. Even if you don’t take that many pictures and just live in the moment, we believe this would be an unforgettable experience for the whole family.

Pro tip:
Before heading out to Rockingham, make sure to check the weather forecast and tide conditions, especially for beach activities and wildlife encounters. For us, this ensures a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
