Pros

  • Can build customised trailers
  • Wide range of trailers available
  • Competitive prices

Cons

  • Issues with communication
  • Limited availability on weekends

Workmate Trailers is my recommendation if you’re looking for great, customised trailers at good prices.

What’s awesome about this shop is that they can build for you a wide range of trailers, from simple box trailers to advanced tradesman trailers. They are skilled in making both aluminium and galvanised steel trailers.

I first heard about Workmate Trailers through my buddy Mark. He’s a gardener, and he got this shop to build him his own hydraulic trailer for his trade.

He told me the three-way hydraulic trailer built for him is great, as it makes dumping green waste easy for him. He felt the $14,000 he spent for the trailer was worth it because it’s super durable and easy to maintain.

However, he pointed out that while the trailer itself is great, the same couldn’t be said of Workmate Trailers’ customer service.

He was updated too slowly in regard to the construction of his trailer, and he had to call the shop’s office repeatedly just to get a proper update.

Another downside I don’t like about Workmate Trailers is its limited availability on weekends. The shop is open only until noon on Saturdays, and it’s closed on Sundays.

Pros

  • More than 50 years of experience making trailers
  • Competitive prices
  • Wide range of trailers available

Cons

  • Inconsistent product quality
  • Issues with communication

John Papas Trailers is a great choice for those who prioritise experience first and foremost. This shop has been in the industry for more than 50 years, already building and selling trailers.

I visited their workshop last month, and I was impressed with the number of trailers they have for sale. Their pre-made trailers are suitable for many purposes, like carrying luggage, farm animals, rubbish, and more.

Their trailers are also sold in different sizes, so you’ll have no problem finding the right one for you. However, if their premade trailers aren’t enough, you can also ask them to build a custom one according to your specifications.

What I love about John Papas Trailers is their competitive pricing. You can buy their small trailers for as little as $1,500.

However, not everyone is satisfied with their products. Some customers told me that the trailers they bought from this shop have defects like blown-out tyres and faulty brake systems.

Another downside to John Papas Trailers is their customer service. Their telephone isn’t always monitored, and some customers were disappointed that they couldn’t enquire about the shop’s products.

Pros

  • Price match policy
  • 18-month warranty on trailers
  • Uses high-quality galvanised steel

Cons

  • Limited trailer variety
  • Closed on weekends

T&J Trailers is my best pick when it comes to heavy-duty trailers. This shop uses high-quality galvanised steel to ensure that its trailers can withstand heavier loads.

What really wowed me was their price match policy. If you can find a trailer similar to theirs sold at a lower price, they’ll match that price with an equal or slightly lower one.

I am also happy to report that T&J Trailers offers an 18-month warranty on all its products. Customers are also entitled to a free trailer checkup within the first 12 months after purchase.

However, a downside to T&J Trailers is its very limited selection of trailers. The only types of trailers they sell are box and ramp trailers.

I should also warn you that this shop is unavailable on weekends. You can only browse through their store on weekdays, so make sure to free up your schedule if you want to check them out.

Pros

  • Wide range of trailers available
  • More than a decade of experience
  • Friendly and professional staff

Cons

  • Inconsistent product quality
  • Doesn’t make customised trailers

Able Trailers is a solid choice for me thanks to its experience in creating a wide range of trailers. This shop can sell you almost any type of trailer, from your typical box trailers to heavy-duty crane trailers.

A huge reason why this shop can sell a wide variety of trailers is its experience. Able Trailers has more than a decade of experience in manufacturing and selling trailers and accessories.

Most customers told me they loved the staff of this shop. Customers praised the staff members of Able Trailers for always keeping a friendly and cheerful attitude.

When it comes to prices, I find most of their products to be priced reasonably. They don’t have the cheapest prices in Perth, but their prices aren’t too far off from most of their competitors in the city.

However, a downside to Able Trailers is its inconsistent product quality. Some customers shared that the trailers they bought have some issues, like poor electrical wiring or battery quality.

Another downside to this shop is its lack of customised trailer service. You’ll need to look elsewhere if the pre-made trailers they sell don’t fit the specifications you need.

5. POLMAC Trailers

Products Offered:

  • Boat trailers
  • Bike trailers
  • Solar trailer
  • Tipping trailers
  • Custom trailers

Pros

  • Offers advanced trailer types
  • 12-month warranty on all products
  • More than 45 years of experience

Cons

  • Inaccurate price quotes for its custom trailers
  • Above-average prices

POLMAC Trailers caught my attention due to their unique and innovative trailers. Tradesmen looking to charge their tools while on the road can take advantage of the solar-powered trailers sold here.

This shop also sells normal trailers if you don’t need a solar-powered one. Some of the other trailers they sell are cage trailers, tilt trailers, and trailers for carrying livestock.

POLMAC Trailers is actually one of the oldest trailer manufacturers here in Perth. They have been in the industry for more than 45 years, which has given them the time and experience to develop and create a wide variety of trailers.

To ensure customer satisfaction, this shop offers a good 12-month warranty on all its trailers. Customers can also enjoy free trailer checkup services within the first 100 kilometres travelled.

If you have a specific trailer design in mind, you can also take advantage of their custom trailer services.

However, I should warn you that POLMAC Trailers is pretty bad at providing an initial quote for its custom trailers. One customer told me that they were surprised with the final cost of their custom trailer, as it was 50% more than the initial quote.

Another downside to this shop is its above-average prices. Most trailers sold here are priced higher compared to other trailers sold in Perth.
