Lake Monger Reserve is the kind of place we can’t help but hate—mainly because it makes the city seem like a nightmare. Having a picnic here is pure bliss, with foliage-thick sections, free BBQs, and the lakeside panoramas blending with the nearby Perth skyline.
Moreover, there are heaps of swans and pelicans floating around like they’re on a royal tour, a huge upside for our birdlife-loving team. Too bad fishing and kayaking are off-limits.

If you’re not into riding, you can still drop by for the unique street art and peaceful atmosphere. Just don’t go on a scorching day, as the nearby trees don’t provide enough shade.

Let’s be real, we can’t claim to know Leederville without mentioning The Garden. This local legend dishes up some of the freshest brunches in a fresher setting, beautified by rustic elements, calm neutrals, and healthy gum trees.
Our go-to is the woodfired Margherita, which is always a win with its authentically light, creamy, and herby profile. On our last trip though, it was the bold chicken parmi with rich tomato sugo and sharp parmesan that gave us chronic cravings.
Gusto Gelato
From gustogelatoau

If you think happiness can’t be bought, you clearly haven’t had Gusto Gelato’s scratch-made scoops. Their flavor lineup is indulgent and extensive enough to win over even the fussiest eaters and diet watchers.
We’re hooked on the salted caramel—a best-seller loved by the team for its sweet-salty harmony. The velvety dark chocolate comes in a close second, packing intense Valrhona cocoa notes with just the right pop of natural sweetness.

- Sun – 8:30 am to 10:30 pm
Any foodie should thank Pinchos for bringing Spain to Perth minus the wallet-draining price tags. Authentic tapas are their claim to fame, but we also can’t overlook the old-world brickwork and offbeat wall art, giving this locale that Leederville character.
Now, the king of their plates has to be their crowd-pleasing pork belly. This money-maker is smoky, crispy, and spiced to perfection, with a caramelized finish that ups the melt-in-your-mouth goodness interior.

Nothing says “I love you” more than a Spanish feast at the romantic Duende. This Spanish restaurant screams passion, with feisty colors and upholstered booths stirring the fire.
The spotlight stealer, however, is the slow-cooked carrillera de ternera. These braised beef cheeks are infused in Pedro Ximenez sherry and a medley of sharp spices, delivering layers of meat and flavor that are complex to the core.
Pappagallo
From pappagallopizzeria

Pappagallo may seem unassuming, but it turned our Italian cravings into a full-blown obsession, especially with their ever-famous cavatelli.
This pasta comes alive with calamari, prawns, mussels, and clams, meaning it’s a plate of oceanic saltiness and sweetness. The mild to intense chili kick adds just the right amount of heat, while the smoky undertones ensure you won’t just savor the ocean’s essence.
