Pros

- Vast and wide landscape
- Quality accommodations
Cons
- Slow response rate to inquiries
- No nearby public transport option
The Swan Valley Retreat offers the perfect compromise between a high-star hotel and a nature getaway just a few kilometres away from the city centre of Perth.
Located in Swan Valley, the large and peaceful landscape of The Swan Valley Retreat was only made possible thanks to the dedication of its owners to maintain and keep the land in its pristine quality even if Perth urbanised all around them.
Now the owners have decided to share the beauty of their land with other people by opening The Swan Valley Retreat.
If you want to experience a nature getaway only a few kilometres away from your home, The Swan Valley Retreat might be the perfect choice for you.
This hotel features excellent quality accommodations which allow you to experience the comforts of modern living outside the busy and bustling city of Perth.
The biggest strength they have when compared to other staycation hotels is their vast beautiful landscape. Their landscape features a modestly sized lake and is full of farm animals ready to greet guests into their home.
The Swan Valley Retreat also offers many outdoor activities like tennis courts for those who want to enjoy a nice game of outdoor tennis and an open fire pit for a hangout spot during the evening.
Another thing to check out at The Swan Valley Retreat is the spa, which a lot of their customers seem to really love.
Their spa service offers many kinds of treatments like hydrotherapy and clay treatment.
With excellent spa service and a peaceful landscape combined, you can experience a one-of-a-kind relaxing experience with The Swan Valley Retreat.
However, some customers have told us that they were frustrated with how slow The Swan Valley Retreat replies to inquiries about their prices and accommodations.
Another downside with them is that there’s no form of public transportation near their location. You’ll have to rely on taxis or ride-hailing apps to get to their hotel if you don’t have a car available.

Pros
- UNESCO World Heritage site
- Big kitchen and dining areas
- Offers historic tours
Cons
- Some common rooms aren’t cleaned regularly
- Issues with staff
YHA Fremantle Prison offers a unique experience for those looking for a more memorable staycation.
Experience staying at one of Australia’s world heritage sites and know more about Fremantle’s historic prison while enjoying quality accommodation.
Fremantle Prison was built back in the 1850s and was recognized by UNESCO as a world heritage site due to its historical significance.
The Fremantle Prison is the only UNESCO heritage site that has been repurposed as a three-star hotel in Western Australia.
Despite being a former prison, YHA Fremantle Prison offers excellent accommodations and amenities, which makes them highly rated and well-loved by many tourists and residents of Perth.
Former prison cells are rebuilt and remodelled to be more spacious and have their own bathrooms and showers. All rooms have their own air-conditioning and heating systems as well.
Despite renovations and remodelling, most of the original architecture has remained. The communal kitchen and dining area is still a huge area where you and your friends can mingle with other people and make new connections.
For activities and events, YHA Fremantle Prison has its own game room where you can play billiards, darts, video games, and many more. The prison yard has been kept and renovated to allow for outdoor activities as well.
Fans of history will also love YHA Fremantle Prison because they offer historical tours for their guests to learn more about an important building in Australian history.
All-in-all, YHA Fremantle Prison is worth trying out for a unique experience despite being only a 3-star hotel.
One downside to them, however, is that some common rooms aren’t being maintained properly, like the older parts of the former prison which are said to be dusty and dirty.
Also, some guests were disappointed about the attitude of YHA Fremantle Prison’s staff. They described the staff as unfriendly and unwilling to help with concerns the guests might have about their rooms.

Pros
- Easy beach access
- Great seafood dishes
- Lively atmosphere
Cons
- Overcrowding issues
- Some amenities are too old
The Marina Hotel is a four-star hotel which lets you experience a memorable vacation at the beach while only being at the edge of Perth.
Enjoy a wide range of activities the hotel has to offer, from its easy beach access to underwater scuba diving in their artificial reefs.
Back on shore, The Marina Hotel also offers activity spaces for guests, such as The Life Boat, which has an array of family-friendly activities. Its close proximity to Yanchep National Park gives their guests a chance to enjoy nature.
With so many things to do here, it’s no wonder why The Marina Hotel is well-known for having a lively atmosphere.
Having a lively atmosphere and lots of activities makes them a favourite among families and the younger crowd.
Another noteworthy feature The Marina Hotel has is its delicious seafood menu at their popular restaurant, The Boat.
Enjoy local seafood and good beer in The Boat while listening to their daily live band performances. This restaurant is open every day and can support reservations for groups of 8 people and more.
However, the lively atmosphere of The Marina Hotel is a two-sided coin. Some guests may not be a fan of the noise and lights.
If you’re someone who prefers a quieter staycation, it might be best to look elsewhere.
There are also some guests who have shared with us that some of The Marina Hotel’s amenities are too old and some are in a state of disrepair. We hope that they rectify this issue soon so as to keep their activities safe for both the guests and staff.

Pros
- 19th-century heritage hotel
- Attentive and diligent staff
- World-class accommodations and amenities
Cons
- Highly expensive
- Inconsistent food quality
COMO The Treasury is one of the premier hotels in Perth you can enjoy your staycation in. If money’s not an issue, then COMO The Treasury might just provide you with the best 5-star hotel experience you deserve.
Located on Cathedral Avenue, COMO The Treasury is a luxury hotel currently occupying the prestigious 19th-century State Building. This prestigious building holds significant history quite unmatched by other 5-star hotels in Perth.
When it comes to accommodations, they’ve got some of the biggest luxury rooms on offer, each with a set of amenities to give their guests total privacy and comfort.
When it comes to activities, you’ll also find yourself busy with lots of things to do due to COMO The Treasury’s large many world-class amenities.
Some of these are a fully-equipped gym, a 20-metre heated indoor swimming pool, and a spa. In addition, they also have a premier restaurant that can serve their guests from breakfast to dinner.
Aside from accommodations, COMO The Treasury also has its own meeting rooms and event venues suitable for company events, birthdays, wedding celebrations, and other occasions.
COMO The Treasury also has some of the best hotel staff in Perth. Their team of diligent and attentive staff is always ready to assist their guests 24/7, and they are led by highly experienced managers who are also working 24/7.
However, as stated before, COMO The Treasury is not cheap and is one of, if not the most, expensive 5-star hotel in Perth.
While we do appreciate their commitment to providing world-class services and accommodations, we still find their prices too high for most people.
Some guests have also shared with us that they find the food quality served within the restaurant to be inconsistent.

Pros
- Competitive prices
- Located in the centre of Perth
- Friendly and accommodating staff
Cons
- Nearby construction may disturb guests
- Some amenities need modernization
Hyatt Regency Perth offers the luxurious experience you expect from a 5-star hotel for a price that is almost close to what 4-star hotels demand.
They are no stranger to most people, as they are part of the Hyatt Group which has hotels spread worldwide.
Located in Adelaide Terrace, Hyatt Regency Perth is one of the best hotels when it comes to accessibility.
Staycation in Hyatt Regency Perth is definitely more enjoyable if you’re planning to visit the most famous landmarks and locations of Perth like the Perth Cultural Centre and the Art Gallery of Western Australia.
In our opinion, the strongest advantage of Hyatt Regency Perth is its prices. For only AUD 276, you’re already able to access 5-star hotel luxury and amenities for a night. And when it comes to amenities, they are no slackers either.
Hyatt Regency Perth has a heated outdoor swimming pool, a fully equipped fitness centre, and a sauna, just to name a few.
They also offer excellent amenities like fully-stocked mini bars, individual heating, and a full view of Perth’s majestic Swan River.
To top it all off, many of their guests also appreciate the friendly attitude of their highly experienced staff who are more than happy to accommodate the requests and concerns of their guests.
Their staff is available 24/7 and is always ready to answer any calls or requests for assistance from all of their hotel rooms.
However, a downside with them is that some of their amenities, especially inside their rooms, are in need of modernisation.
Thankfully, their management seems to have realised this and have stated that they are working towards improving the situation.
Another downside with Hyatt Regency Perth is that there’s a major construction project currently ongoing near their hotel. The noise and ruckus this construction work may bring distress to some guests.
