5 Best Seafood Wholesalers in Perth That Are Hooked on Quality

  • Freshness of Goods - I chose wholesalers that sell fresh seafood, either live or frozen, and especially considered those that offer daily catches.
  • Affordability - I chose wholesalers that offer competitive prices to customers and included those that offer promos and discounts as well.
  • Reputation - I chose wholesalers that have been in the seafood business for at least 10 years and have maintained a relatively pristine reputation in the freshness and quality of their products.
  • Quality and Range of Suppliers - I chose wholesalers that source their products from Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP)-approved fishing farms and suppliers. I prioritised local farms but I also included wholesalers that also supply imported seafood.

One of the things I love about living in Perth is the proximity to the sea. We have beaches and lots of fishing spots where dozens of locals like myself visit to unwind and relax.

The city’s proximity to the coast makes it a hub for fresh seafood. Numerous wholesalers offer fresh, live, and frozen fish and shellfish at competitive prices.

So, if you’re thinking about running a business like a hotel, restaurant, or cafe, consider buying fresh seafood from the wholesalers below. I made sure to prioritise those who source fish locally and sustainably!

Central Seafoods is an award-winning seafood wholesaler that supplies seafood like oysters, mussels, prawns, fish, octopus, and more to many supermarkets across Perth.

They won the Seafood Business Award from the Western and National Australian Seafood Industry Awards in 2015 and supply over 130 stores in Western Australia with their award-winning products.

They only source their products from local fisheries and emphasise private labelling to ensure that customers get seafood that meets the Sustainable Seafood Guide standards.

What I love most about this wholesaler is its packaging and storage systems. I notice that they’re easy to read and very transparent when it comes to informing customers about where their products come from and how they are stored.

It’s easy to check if the contents are fresh. They have their own freezers in supermarkets, making them easy to find.

Central Seafoods isn’t the cheapest, but they have a good range of seafood options (plus, the contents are big). You get what you pay for.

Pros

  • Efficient storage system
  • Award-winning seafood wholesaler

Cons

  • Pricey goods
  • Sells mainly frozen goods

    Good value for money

We bought our prawns and Cray from here this Christmas. The best we have ever had. Great value and we will be going back to buy more. Highly recommend it.

I have bought from Central Seafoods many times and not only do they have the best produce, but customer service is also fantastic and their prices are the best I’ve found.

As far as seafood markets go, Atlantic Seafood Market is a solid place to get first dibs on live seafood. You simply choose what you want from the tank or display, and the staff will weigh it for you.

You’ll be charged based on weight, which is very reasonable considering they do it in front of you and their catches are big and high-quality. They have lobsters, mud crabs, oysters, clams, squid, fish, and more.

But just remember that it is a live seafood market, so the place isn’t pleasant.

In my experience, they tend to hard sell products that have been on display for a while, so stay persistent and pay attention to where the staff members take your orders (or choose them yourself).

Parking is limited, and they get busy during opening. It’s best to arrive early for the freshest catch.

    8Pros

    • Best for live seafood
    • Transparent pricing and weighing

    Cons

    • Limited parking
    • Inconsistent freshness

      Seafood live from the tank

2nd time buying fresh Australian QLD/NT mud crabs 🦀 and they didn’t disappoint. Live from the tank, weighed in front of me, cleaned, cut to a good number of pieces, claws cracked, well packed with plastic bags, layers of paper and newspaper and even came with a pack of ice inside. Very happy, had a wonderful chilli crab dinner 🦀🦀🦀 with family. Also bought slate fish (stingray) for sambal BBQ. Wonderful! 😋

      Tasty and fresh fish

Loved the place. Fish was tasty and reasonably priced. Staff was friendly and helpful. Lots of live fishes, crabs and lobsters. Nice place to go shopping.

Seafresh Markets Myaree is a solid seafood wholesaler that sells a wide range of wild-framed fish, prawns, lobsters, and more. They only source their products from open-ocean farms, ensuring that catches are fresh and natural.

They’re not the cheapest ($72/kg for fish), but they offer a wide range of frozen seafood.

With multiple branches across Perth, their products are easily accessible.

Most of what they sell is frozen, which isn’t a problem unless the stock isn’t fresh. I noticed that the products they had on display were defrosted and then frozen again for display the next day. This is a big no-no for me.

At least they have many staff members ready to assist you with anything you need. I recommend buying sushi from their sashimi bar, too!

      Pros

      • Wild-farmed open-ocean fish
      • Multiple branches

      Cons

      • Mostly frozen seafood
      • Pricey goods

        Always good seafood

Always good. Lovely oysters freshly shucked this morning turned into kilpatrick tonight and scoffed. Delish and easy!

If you’re starting a small hospitality business, you should consider sourcing seafood from Weststate Seafoods. They have a wide range of frozen and fresh seafood products that are Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) certified.

This means that all the products they source are safe from harmful chemicals, unethical farming processes, and potential exposure to viruses.

This wholesaler impressively provides fresh seafood to clients with a large fleet, ample storage, and experienced staff, ensuring efficient sourcing and delivery.

Their product list is mostly frozen seafood, however. They have no physical store where clients can choose products themselves, so you will have to trust their expertise on that.

Their consultancy staff can advise on supplying fresh seafood. They’ll provide a wholesale price list and catalogue upon inquiry (although it would’ve been nicer to have the price list available on their website for reference).

        Pros

        • Fast delivery services
        • Offers consultancy services

        Cons

        • Mostly frozen goods
        • No physical store

          Very personal service

Always very personal service, with Guy and Kelly always making sure orders are correct and best prices are given. The super tender squid tubes are the best around. Would highly recommend using this company.”

          Excellent fresh products

Weststate Seafood has been supplying Mia Cucina Italian Restaurant with excellent fresh products and service for over a decade. Guy and Kelly go above and beyond to make sure our supply is always on time, they have even taken calls from us the evening before a public holiday to ensure we had fresh fish for the following day. They’re available and ready to solve problems with us and provide friendly yet professional service. We look forward to continuing our partnership.

One of the best things about Hill Seafoods is that they offer affordable wholesale seafood products unloaded daily by local suppliers and fish farms across Australia. If you’re someone who prefers to support local fisheries, here’s a wholesaler to consider.

Since 1987, they’ve served Perth’s hotels, restaurants, cafes, and pubs. They import frozen goods worldwide as well, offering portion-controlled packages for businesses in town.

In my opinion, they’re a solid wholesaler for small businesses primarily because they’re affordable and offer deals and promotions on top of the wholesale price.

There have been pricing issues, however; some products are mislabeled, so pay close attention to your orders.

To avoid overpaying for unwanted fish, visit their physical store instead of ordering online. You’ll miss some online deals, but it’s worth the effort if you’re particular about your seafood.

          Pros

          • Offers deals and promotions
          • Been in the business since 1987

          Cons

          • Inconsistent pricing
          • Wrong labels on products

            Great range and awesome help

Great range, awesome help and service. Was very busy, but it was like I was the only person in the shop. Super helpful.

Freshest seafood in Perth! Consistent quality and great range of fish fillets which are beautifully prepared and no bones!! Service is excellent too. Thanks for being local in the hills as we love getting our weekly fish fix.”
