Pros
- Available 5 days a week
- Wide range of neurological specialties
- Explains complex matters in layman’s terms
- Willing to answer lots of questions
Cons
- Doesn’t have medicolegal expertise
- Unavailable on weekends
Dr Ron Manasseh is a neurologist in Perth who covers many neurological problems with his wide range of specialties.
This includes headaches, migraines, dementia, cognitive impairment, Parkinson’s Disease, tremor and movement disorders, and facial pain.
For us, it was also easy to access his clinic because it’s inside Hepburn Heights Shopping Centre. This is situated around a spacious parking lot too!
To add to the convenience, there are other clinics and stores around the area as well. This type of location would be easier to go to for regular patients or chance by for prospects.
Upon entering the clinic, the receptionist was also accommodating to receive our queries. However, the neurologist here still has some limitations.
A previous client who had a brain injury told us he got his booking cancelled before. This is because it was deemed best for him to go to a neurologist who also has expertise in medicolegal.
Furthermore, even if the neurologist is available on weekdays, his schedule might still be confusing for some. His patients must keep in mind that the clinic closes 2 hours earlier on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Overall, we still recommend Dr Ron Manasseh’s wide scope of neurological services. Don’t hesitate to reach him at your earliest convenience!

Pros
- 25 years of experience
- Likeable and compassionate
- Humble in admitting limitations
- Available for telehealth consultations
Cons
- Some explanations still sound textbook-based
- No email displayed
For cognitive impairment or dementia in patients under 65 years of age, we recommend Dr Carolyn Orr in Perth. What we like best about her is that she’s both a neurologist and a researcher.
Her areas of special interest are also quite diverse and cover several fields. This includes cognitive or behavioural neurology, Alzheimer’s disease, Lewy body disease, frontotemporal dementia, primary progressive aphasia, and Prion disease.
We thought it was convenient that she was available for telehealth consults too! We appreciate having more ways to reach her in case of urgent need.
Due to her constant pursuit of learning and release of publications, we believe she’s a progressive specialist who can keep up with the times. She’ll be among the first to know if there are any innovations in the field.
With her 25 years of experience, many of her patients vouch for her intelligent and articulate remarks.
But although she tries her best in describing everything in easier terms, some clients think she could work on simplifying her words. Some of her explanations may still sound textbook-based.
What surprised several patients though, was this neurologist’s humility to admit when she wasn’t sure about something. But for those matters, she also provides alternatives or referrals to remedy the clients’ problems.
Still, Dr Carolyn Orr is among the top neurologists at Royal Perth Hospital who’s worth your visit.

Pros
- 29 years of experience
- Available during weekdays
- Easy parking
- Sends detailed emails about the appointment
Cons
- It may take a while to get a booking
- Consultations are a bit pricey
Since 1993, Dr Ross Goodheart has attended to patients with a wide range of general neurological symptoms and diagnoses.
He is trained to diagnose neurophysiology (EMG studies), multiple sclerosis, stroke, epilepsy, peripheral nerve disorders, movement disorders, Parkinson’s disease, and the like.
At first, it was good to know that there were lots of ways to book this neurologist. Appointments can be made by telephone, fax, email, or post.
Also worth nothing is that his receptionist was accommodating. She gave us personalised attention and checked the smallest details to answer our questions.
Moreover, the staff also sent us a comprehensive email about the requirements needed for an appointment. This was extremely helpful to ensure that patients don’t have to go back and forth to the clinic because of missing documents or information.
However, do take note that new patients require a referral from another medical practitioner. But presumably due to his many bookings, it took a while for some patients to see Dr Goodheart as well.
But according to many of them, his quality consultations more than make up for these issues.
Parking outside his location is easy too, which is always a bonus!
So for sympathetic and reassuring visits, go to Dr Ross Goodheart for your next neurologist in Perth.

Pros
- Internationally-renowned child neurologist
- Provides a detailed report
- Attentive staff
- Strong believer in research
Cons
- Consultations may get emotional
- Lacking online information
Ensuring the health of a child’s brain, spine, nerves, or muscles is tricky. But, a reliable neurologist in Perth like Dr. Lakshmi Nagarajan can be a godsend.
We were in awe that she’s an internationally-renowned child neurologist and epileptologist. She’s an expert in the areas of neonatal seizures and epilepsy.
Neurologists can be intimidating for children at times but their staff was thoughtful when we asked how to make these kinds of situations easier for the kids. We were kindly assisted and given enough information to help us decide which of their experts we may need.
Now, Dr. Nagarajan is also active in educational programs all over the world, so we think she really has a soft spot for the youth. For her, communicating with children would be a piece of cake.
She is a strong believer in research too and is confident in providing us with state-of-the-art clinical care. To give patients more peace of mind, she can even send a detailed report for easy reference.
Though, for sure, doctors can have bad days as well. A patient she previously had dealings with made a big fuss due to a misunderstanding about her diagnosis.
Still, props to Dr. Nagarajan for remaining calm and professional. Though in these confusing situations, getting a second opinion might be the most accurate way to resolve the confusion.
Ultimately, Dr. Lakshmi Nagarajan is a dedicated neurologist in Perth suited for your little ones. Currently, clients can find her at Princess Margaret Hospital for Children.

Pros
- Available 5 days a week
- Experienced, with many awards
- Direct to the point
- Quick and efficient
Cons
- May need to get a second opinion if the findings show nothing notable
- The receptionist may be moody at times
- Unavailable for telehealth consults
Typically, a neurologist isn’t able to perform major surgeries on the brain and spinal cord. But if you’re looking for an experienced neurosurgeon in Perth, Dr George Wong is part of our list.
His extensive research also involves subarachnoid hemorrhages, intracranial aneurysms, brain tumours, brain injury outcomes, and translational strokes.
We were particularly impressed by his many awards and honorary recognitions which add to his credibility. One of these is the World Federation of Neurological Surgeons Young Neurosurgeon Award in 2013.
We also liked that he was among one of the few specialists that were readily available as well since he’s available 5 days a week. Although do take note, that he doesn’t offer virtual consultations.
However, one of his former patients that we’ve spoken to mentioned that some of Dr Wong’s diagnoses may show nothing notable. While this can be good news for some people, there might be other things left unchecked.
If you’d like to be completely at ease, it’s always best to get a second opinion.
Moreover, we think it helps a lot to have insurance or other financial aid as support too. Many of his surgeries have the potential to be costly.
Overall though, if you have more complicated or structural problems, you may reach out to a seasoned neurosurgeon like Dr George Wong to navigate through your diagnosis and treatments.
