Pros

- Fresh, local ingredients
- BYO available
- Welcoming, old-school service
Cons
- Limited seating due to high demand
Two Mad Tuscans brings the heart of Tuscany to Perth. This restaurant is the passion project of a traditionally trained Italian cook, Andrea, who brings 50 years of family recipes to the table.
The focus here is on authentic, handmade Italian food created with fresh, local ingredients. It’s a place for friends and family to gather for a relaxed and genuine Italian experience, complete with old-school customer service.
The restaurant’s charm lies in its simplicity and dedication to tradition. The space is cozy and inviting, perfect for a casual dinner or a special celebration.
Whether you choose to dine in or take away, the team at Two Mad Tuscans is committed to providing a memorable experience.
Two Mad Tuscans is a testament to the beauty of authentic Italian cooking. The owner and chef, Andrea, was born and raised in Tuscany to a Neapolitan family, and his passion for traditional methods is evident in every dish.
He uses an ancient sourdough method for his pizzas, which are all hand-stretched and made with the best local and imported ingredients.
The menu is a celebration of classic Italian flavors. The award-winning pizzas are the star of the show, with options ranging from the classic Margherita to the more adventurous Frutti di Mare.
The pasta dishes, like Nonna’s trofie with sausage and greens, are just as impressive. Each dish is a reminder of the comfort and joy of a home-cooked Italian meal.
The restaurant’s “BYO” policy is a major draw for diners, allowing them to enjoy their favorite wine or beer with their meal. This, combined with the warm and friendly service, creates a dining experience that is both affordable and enjoyable.
Because of the intimate setting, it has become a popular spot for locals, so booking ahead is recommended, especially on weekends.

Pros
- Warm and cosy ambience
- Convenient location
- Good variety in menu
- Friendly staff
- Opens early
Cons
- Some complaints on slow service
- Inconsistent quality of food
- Some ingredients aren’t fresh
SIMPLE Italian Cucina Pizzeria is located right in the heart of the Perth CBD if you’re craving for Italian food.
They’re most popular for their wood-fired pizzas that are prepared in the traditional Italian way. They have multiple options for their pizzas outside of usual favourites like Margherita and Napoli, with vegetarian options available.
Their menu focuses heavily on pizza, but it is Italian food after all. If you’re craving something else, you can order pasta, salad, and some meat and fish dishes.
We appreciate how detailed their menu is, with clear labels as to which dishes are vegan and vegetarian. We also like how they point out if the dish has nuts or will be spicy.
However, their menu also states that “orders may come out at different timing from kitchen,” which means that service can be slow.
We’ve confirmed this with diners, who said that some dishes come out quickly, while some require a wait time of at least half an hour. There’s no set pattern as to which dishes come out late, so if you’re famished, it may be best to dine elsewhere.
While most diners laud them for their pizzas, we have heard complaints about the quality of their other dishes. This ranges from the pasta being soggy to unfresh seafood served.
Thus, if you dine here, we recommend that you come for the pizza and be more discerning towards other menu items.
3. Lulu La Delizia

Specialties: Meatballs, panna cotta, pasta

Pros
- Romantic and cosy ambience
- Good quality of food
- Has indoor and alfresco dining options
- Good wine collection
Cons
- Poor service
- Limited space
- A bit expensive
Lula La Delizia is the place to go if you’re looking for a romantic dinner with your partner. The ambience is warm and cosy, but it’s best to come during weekday nights to avoid the noise from a full house.
They specialise in pasta dishes, with options such as tagliatelle with veal, saffron spaghetti with clams, and the pasta of the day. However, if you’re looking to have some pizza, they unfortunately don’t serve that here.
Based on our customer research, they seem to serve a consistent quality of food and only use fresh ingredients. Of course, this comes at a premium, with some dishes worth over $30.
Their food menu doesn’t have much variety, and we think that this is because they focus on the quality of each dish served. If you’d like to try something new, you can opt for their six-course banquet that’s priced at $85 per head.
They do have a good wine collection with a sommelier that can give you recommendations as to which wine will suit your meal best.
However, for the price they charge, we think that they can improve on their service. Multiple diners reported that they felt the place was too pretentious, with staff being rude and unwelcoming.
In fact, a couple of diners have said that the saving grace was the quality of the food. But if good service is non-negotiable for you, it may be best to dine elsewhere.
4. Post

Specialties: Beef carpaccio, pork cotoletta, tagliatelle
Website: https://postperth.com/
Address: COMO The Treasury, 1 Cathedral Ave, Perth WA 6000

Pros
- Has tasting and breakfast menu
- Extensive drinks menu
- Quiet and cosy ambience
- Good serving size
Cons
- Complaints on wait staff
- Inconsistent quality of food
- A little expensive
If you’re looking for a unique way to enjoy Italian cuisine in Perth, Post is where you must go. The location is a former post office, and you can still see hints of that in the restaurant’s interior.
Because they’re located in a hotel, Post is open from 6:30 AM until 10:00 PM daily. They’re one of the few Italian restaurants in the city that has a dedicated breakfast menu, even if some of their breakfast items aren’t Italian dishes.
You can choose between their tasting menu or ordering dishes à la carte. Their tasting menu is a four-course meal served with wine, and it’s priced at $95 per head.
Even if you choose from their à la carte menu, it’s likely that you’ll reach $95, as their dishes don’t come cheap. And while most diners have said that the food quality is good, there are some dishes that the restaurant simply doesn’t specialise in.
We heard multiple complaints about the quality of their salads, which diners said were unfresh or that the dressing didn’t match.
Hence, if you’ll dine here, we suggest going for their specialties such as their beef carpaccio or pork cotoletta. Alternatively, you can ask about the dishes on their tasting menu and choose that instead if the dishes interest you.
The restaurant is pretty quiet on most days, which allows you to have a peaceful meal. However, we have heard multiple complaints about the wait staff being noisy or rude while serving meals.
5. Gioia On The River

| Value for money | 4/5 |
Pros
- Riverside location
- Generous servings
- Has indoor and alfresco dining options
Cons
- A bit expensive
- Not child-friendly
- Menu unavailable online
Gioia On The River has one of the best views for an Italian restaurant in Perth. As its name suggests, they’re right by the river, and you can opt to dine alfresco to maximise the view.
It’s up to you as to where you want to dine, but if it’s hot and you want to get away from the sun, we suggest that you call beforehand to check if their air-conditioning system is working. Some diners have complained of it not working.
Other than their location, we like their generous serving sizes. Their meals are priced on the expensive side, but customer feedback on the quality of their food has been good.
However, we do think that they must improve their service with the prices they charge. Multiple diners have complained that the restaurant isn’t child-friendly due to their lack of high chairs and a kid’s menu.
Furthermore, a few guests reported that they were turned away because they had kids.
Other guests also complained of long wait times and some unfriendly wait staff.
Their menu is unavailable online, which may be inconvenient to those who need to go over the menu to check the dishes for special dietary needs.
Unfortunately, we also heard reports about their menu’s poor presentation, with one diner reporting that the menu was given to them handwritten on a piece of paper.
6. Maruzzella Restaurant

Pros
- Has vegetarian and vegan options
- Has kid’s menu
- Good service
- Generous servings
Cons
- Minor complaints on quality of food
- Service can be slow
- A little expensive
Maruzzella Restaurant is considered to be a hidden gem by many in Perth. The restaurant’s interior and design may not look like much, but they make up for it with their food and service.
They have a good variety on their menu, from pizza to pasta and main dishes. On top of that, they also have vegetarian and vegan options as well as a kid’s menu.
They’re a little bit on the expensive side with meals averaging at around $20, but their serving sizes are pretty generous, so we can’t complain. Not only that, we barely heard complaints about the quality of their food.
The complaints about their food were mostly regarding the dishes that are not traditionally Italian but had some Australian influence.
These experimental dishes may not match some diners’ palates, so it may be best to stick with classic Italian meals to avoid disappointment.
The ambience is casual and relaxed, which is great for families and for diners who are looking for a good Italian meal without much fuss from the menu or the wait staff.
We are happy to report that most diners enjoyed their time here with both food and service from the wait staff. In fact, the only downsides to their service are that it can be slow on busy nights, and they’re unable to split the bill for you.
