The Best Daycare Centres in Perth That Will Care for Your Little Ones Like Their Own

  • Communication and parental involvement - Our list includes centres with clear and regular communication with parents, including updates on the child's progress, daily reports, and incident notifications.
  • Staff qualifications - We looked for daycare centres with experienced staff who are certified by the Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority and trained in early childhood education and first aid.
  • Safety and cleanliness - Only daycare centres with secure entry points, proper childproofing, and regular safety drills made it to our list.
  • Curriculum and activities - We reviewed the curriculum to see if it includes a balance of structured learning and play. The program should promote cognitive, emotional, and social development.

Searching for the right daycare for my little one was a daunting task, but thankfully, I had resources as a reviewer! To find a place for my child to thrive and feel at ease, I explored some of the best daycare centres in the city.

From top-notch facilities to a caring staff and engaging activities, here’s a thorough look at some of the centres that stood out for me (and the reasons why fellow parents love them).

Mirabilia Early Learning Education Centre & Kindergarten Citiplace offers a welcoming environment where children are nurtured to reach their full potential. Their vision to partner with families and communities to create future leaders is evident in their well-rounded early learning programs. The centre’s focus on creating a homelike atmosphere makes it an inviting space for young learners.

One of the key strengths of Mirabilia Citiplace is their commitment to holistic child development. Their curriculum is designed to support all developmental domains, from physical to cognitive, ensuring that each child’s growth is comprehensive. Additionally, the centre offers specialized ‘Squads’ programs that allow children to engage in intentional learning experiences, fostering a love for exploration and discovery.

Another advantage of Mirabilia Citiplace is their strong partnership with families. The centre places a high value on communication, ensuring that parents are kept informed and involved in their child’s progress. The flexible scheduling options and the welcoming, family-like atmosphere contribute to a positive experience for both children and parents.

However, Mirabilia Citiplace does have some limitations. The centre’s focus on providing a wide range of programs might feel overwhelming for some parents who prefer a more straightforward approach. Additionally, the urban location might present challenges related to space and accessibility compared to suburban centers.

Overall, Mirabilia Citiplace stands out as a nurturing and comprehensive early learning centre. Their commitment to child development and family engagement makes them a strong choice for parents seeking a supportive and enriching environment for their children.

Pros

  • Holistic child development curriculum
  • Specialized ‘Squads’ programs
  • Strong communication with parents
  • Flexible scheduling options

Cons

  • Closed on weekends

One of the first things we noticed about Goodstart Early Learning East Perth is its modern, light-filled indoor spaces and large shaded outdoor areas. The facilities include vegetable and flower gardens, reading corners, and various play areas that promote safe and nurturing exploration and learning.

The centre offers a play-based curriculum aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework, including STEM/STEAM, nature-based play, and a school readiness program. It also features incursions, excursions, and community events to enrich children’s learning experiences.

The daily rate ranges from AUD 144.50 to 151.50, which is relatively affordable compared to some other premium daycare options.

A notable disadvantage, however, is the high turnover rate of staff. This can impact the consistency and stability of care provided to children, as frequent changes in caregivers affect the overall learning environment.

Pros

  • Well-designed indoor and outdoor spaces
  • Nature and play-based curriculum
  • Relatively affordable daily fees

Cons

  • High staff turnover

Customer Reviews

The educators are highly trained and knowledgeable

“My son has thrived at Goodstart East Perth over the last two years and we are sad to be leaving. The educators are highly trained, and knowledgeable and provide a secure and nurturing environment. We have been fortunate to have had one educator move through the different rooms with my son and having that consistency has been invaluable to his growth, learning and sense of belonging.” – Kate H, Google Review

The centre director is a lovely person

“Goodstart East Perth is a lovely centre, I’m incredibly happy to be a part of the Goodstart Team. Our centre director is a lovely person, she puts her hardest effort into everything to keep our staff and children safe. The staff and children are lovely, I’m passionate about working with children and getting to know them all individually, it’s been my dream to always work with children. I’ve loved my job the past few months and hope to continue this job for a while.” – Emersyn Clohessy, Google Review

An impressive thing about North Perth School of Early Learning is its unique Skyplay concept with indoor and outdoor play areas seamlessly integrated. This concept, a Matthew Crawford Architects design, incorporates natural elements and provides a sophisticated, safe, and stimulating environment for children.

Its curriculum integrates progressive philosophies from Reggio Emilia, Rudolf Steiner, Maria Montessori, and the International Baccalaureate, featuring dedicated studio spaces and programs that support children’s creative and cognitive development.

The school’s daily rate is AUD 134, which is competitive compared to the average cost in North Perth. This makes it a reasonably priced option for families considering the quality of care and facilities provided.

Do note that the school requires a settling process of three or more scheduled 30-minute visits before the first official day of care, which can be time-consuming for parents.

Pros

  • The curriculum is based on progressive philosophies
  • Relatively affordable rates
  • Integrated indoor and outdoor play areas

Cons

  • The required settling process might not sit well with busy parents

SOEL has been so great with supporting our family and our daughter Sofia

“Being a new mum and trying to find a learning centre that makes you feel at ease when you leave your little one there for the day is hard. However, SOEL has been so great with supporting our family and our daughter Sofia since she started there, and she LOVES her educators. Jasmina was so welcoming from day 1 and went out of her way to make sure Sofia was taken care of, and comfortable and that our needs and hers were met from the baby room until now. Being able to speak the same native language with our daughter as we do at home also really helps us as a family reinforce cultural values and shows genuine care for her development.” – Miss Maja, Google Review

Our little one is always excited to go to daycare

“We enrolled our daughter at SOEL earlier this year and our experience has been great. Our little one is always excited to go to daycare and seems to enjoy all the different activities. Big thank you to all educators who work hard every day to look after our babies and special thank you to Jasmina! We can see how much she loves her job and as a consequence, my daughter loves her too! Last but not least, a big thank you to the reception team too who is always willing to help.” – Vanessa Sanzovo, Google Review

The daily rates at Kidz Galore range from AUD120 to AUD126, which is competitive and slightly below the average cost of childcare in North Perth, making it an affordable option for many families.

It offers a comprehensive curriculum that includes play-based learning environments, a physical development program designed by a physiotherapist, and regular excursions.

One unique feature of Kidz Galore is its emphasis on a healthy food culture that engages all five senses. The centre provides nutritious meals that are part of their educational approach to healthy eating habits.

One downside we found, however, is that accounts are issued every fortnight and must be paid two weeks in advance, with no adjustments for sick days, exclusions, public holidays, or annual leave. This policy can be financially burdensome for families, as they are required to pay for childcare even when their child is not attending the centre.

Pros

  • Emphasis on developing healthy eating habits
  • Affordable tuition fee
  • Physiotherapist-designed physical program

Cons

  • Requires accounts to be paid two weeks in advance every fortnight

Customer Reviews

The kids are completely in love with the place

“I’ve been really pleased by this place, they’ve been absolutely excellent. I didn’t really want to put kids in daycare and was a bit hesitant at first, but after they settled in, the kids were completely in love with the place. The food is very good (they’ve got a kitchen on site and it looks like they prepare it all fresh) and the staff are really enthusiastic and great with the kids. My eldest jumps up and down with excitement when I tell her we’re going to daycare and says “I looooove Becky… I looooove Claire” (two of the staff there). I don’t think they’re the cheapest around but my kids are loving it so much it’s worth every cent.” – Peter Clarkson, Google Review

The staff there are lovely, bright, happy, and positive

“Just started taking my little one to Kids Galore and the staff there are lovely, bright, happy and positive! My little one comes home a grub but I know she’s had an awesome time!” – Tracey S, Yelp Review

However, the daily rates for Buggles Childcare range from AUD 149 to AUD 170.50. This places it on the higher end of the cost spectrum for childcare in Perth, which may be a significant consideration for budget-conscious families

The centre is big and clean with lots of outdoor play

“We have been very happy with the care our 15mo receives at Buggles. We feel the educators really know him (and each of the children) well, and cater to their preferences and interests. They are fun and caring, the centre is big and clean with lots of outdoor play, and our child is very happy there.” – Sophie Bond, Google Review

They always come up with creative ways to keep the kiddos entertained

“Where to start?! My toddler absolutely loves it here. A month in and he settled so well. All the staff are very professional and experienced, they always come up with creative ways to keep the kiddos entertained, the food is healthy and the environment is very friendly. The location of the daycare is perfect for people who live in town, they have a drop-off carpark as well. I absolutely made the right choice for my little one. Highly recommended!” – Alina Iliescu, Google Review
