The best pet hotels in Perth are worth paying fur!

  • Cleanliness: The team personally visited pet hotels (when available) to assess the quality of feeding spaces, play zones, kennels, and litter areas. Health records, chats, feedback, and site inspections were checked as well.
  • Facilities: Visits, interviews, and feedback were also used to grade ventilation and safety. Facility variety also mattered, so spots with more exercise areas, pools, or socialisation spaces were favoured.
  • Communication Skills: Hotels that regularly update pet owners got better marks, verified mainly using our own experience and that of others. Friendliness, responsiveness, and clarity of information also mattered.
  • Qualifications: We contacted pet hotels directly to review their relevant animal care certifications, including first aid training or vet-related diplomas. Entries that showed more received extra points.
  • Pricing: By comparing rates across short- and long-term stays, factoring in inclusions like playtime and feeding, we found out which hotels offer the best value for money. The team also considered transparency, discounts, and proximity to Perth’s normal rates.

Would you really leave your pup or cat in a dodgy joint with grubby kennels or leftover meals? Yeah, me neither.

My fur babies get royal treatment when I’m away for a work trip or vacation. That’s why I only drop them at retreats with professionally trained staff, next-level amenities (like pools), and nutritious meals.

If you’re after the same perks (or something more lavish), jackpot! I’ve sniffed around Perth and found pet hotels that are worth the extra barks—I mean, bucks.

Jessica (and her beloved cat, Hershey) opened Furbaby Retreat with dreams in mind: ditch the cages and treat felines as royalty, to name a few.

Fast-forward to 2025, and the duo nailed what they were chasing. The hotel now offers custom-made suites, enrichment programs (e.g. daily cuddles and grooming), vet-approved menus, and more “pampering” perks.

Personally, I love the timely updates. Every time my cat stays here, the staff sends me pics and videos through SMS, email, and social media platforms, helping me stay sane.

Obviously, Furbaby Retreat’s weak point is that it’s feline-focused only (like these purrfect catteries). The woofers need to find somewhere else to crash.

Transport isn’t included either; owners have to drop off and pick up their cats.

Other than that, no complaints on my end, even on the pricing. The premium rates are understandable, and they sweeten it with discounts for pensioners and folks working in the vet industry (if you’re looking for one, some of Perth’s best vets are featured here).

Pros

  • Owner has a Certificate in Animal Studies
  • Has discounts for pensioners and pros in vet care
  • Customised suites
  • Has repeat clients

Cons

  • For cats only
  • No transport services

Amazing Experience

The team at Furbaby Retreat took such incredible care of our girl while we were on holiday. I was a very nervous cat mum because it was her first time in a cattery, but she had such a great time and we got daily updates on what she was up to. The team so clearly care about their work, and give so much love to the kitties they care for. Amazing experience, our cat will definitely book in for another holiday soon!

Ontilt feels and looks more like a luxe hotel than a kennel. For starters, their suites are all conditioned, plus not every dog boarding facility offers a dog bath with a 24-karat gold inlay!

The outdoors are no exception. Pups get to zoom across a lawn of Buffalo grass, with a Versache-themed pool always primed for cooling down.

On top of that, you can cross out drop-offs/pick-ups from your to-do list (if you’re loaded). Ontilt offers premium chauffeur services, so your furry pal can cruise in a Ferrari, McLaren, and other flashy rides.

Downside is, you’ll be covering nearly 35 km or 45 mins to get here from the Perth CBD.

Prices are also steeper than most, as you’d expect.

You’re not wasting dollars, though. Past the ritzy bits, Ontilt has daily structured play to improve fitness and socialisation skills, regular updates, flexible scheduling, and fresher surroundings.

Pros

  • Has chauffeur services
  • Has a swimming pool
  • Flexible scheduling
  • Refreshing environment

Cons

  • 45 mins from Perth’s city centre
  • Pricier than most (6-star hotel)

Thank you so much for looking after our babies!

Hi Kevin, Nicky and Team.

Thank you so much for looking after our babies! Bonnie and Olive can be quite opinionated and I was so impressed to see how quickly they became comfortable with you. We were anxious to leave them as they don’t have a good history (they weren’t well looked after, anxious and quite underweight when we adopted them a few months ago) and this was the longest we’ve been away from them but the photo updates were so good at easing my anxiety. You and your team obviously love dogs and treat each as your own- thank you so much!

Often touted as Australia’s biggest pet care company, Hanrob is a safe call. Their 45-plus years of experience only solidify that.

My favourite thing about the hotel is the countryside location. Pooches enjoy off-leash strolls in the bush and paddocks, which is why most of them head home knackered, mine included.

Better yet, creature comforts are still checked. The purpose-built accommodations have plush beddings and air-conditioners, as well as round-the-clock monitoring.

Climate-controlled rides are ready to go as well. Wanerroo is nearly 40 minutes away from the Perth city centre, so that’s good news.

The communication end, however, has dropped the ball a few times. Some of our interviewees grumbled over confusing and not-so-cordial responses.

On a positive note, Hanrob goes beyond lodgings. You can sort out your pet’s training here, especially if they have barking, aggression, chewing, or lead-pulling tendencies.

Pros

  • Over 45 years old
  • Countryside location
  • Has transport services
  • Offers training

Cons

  • History of unhelpful and rude responses
  • Nearly 40 minutes from the Perth CBD

Efficient Booking Service

The staff here are so kind and genuinely care for the animals that stay. I can’t thank them enough for their care for my dog, efficient booking service and exceptional customer service. By far the best place I’ve ever left a pet to stay. Thank you.

Wish We Came Earlier

We’ve learnt loads, our dog enjoys the training and we’re already seeing progress after a couple of sessions. Just wish we came earlier.

If your pack includes woofers, meowers, and squawkers, Paws Claws and Beaks is probably your best bet.

Dogs get to kick back in breezy kennels with mist machines, while cats crash in well-ventilated, naturally lit rooms that can accommodate two felines at once.

For the birdie squad, you can bring your own cage or rent one from the retreat, with outdoor aviaries also offered. Dietary requirements, fruits, seeds, and even medication are covered.

The problem is, their facilities aren’t as flashy as the rest. Some fur parents we talked to weren’t too chuffed with the older kennels.

Updates also need some tune-up. Replies to messages aren’t always immediate.

The silver lining? Paws Claws and Beaks won’t bleed your wallet dry. Out of our picks, their usual rates are the lowest.

Perth Airport is also just 10 minutes away from it. That’s handy for travellers needing drop-offs before flights.

Pros

  • Caters to dogs, cats, and birds
  • 10 mins from PER
  • Lower prices
  • Offers grooming services

Cons

  • Slow responses
  • Not the most premium facilities

Looked After Well

We left our Princess Parrot, ‘Jacka’, for four days at Paws, Claws and Beaks Retreat, while we went to Margaret River. He was looked after well.

Amazing, friendly staff.

Very much appreciated.

Julies has been pampering cats and dogs since 1988 and is still keeping up with newer names, especially in terms of facilities.

For one, dog kennels and wings here are personalised. Timid or small pups don’t get stuck with their opposites.

The same goes for cats. If yours isn’t fond of sharing or strangers, individual and family enclosures can be booked (shared ones are available too).

Both also get plenty of space for outdoor fun. Pooches can zoom through 15-metre-long pavilions (which are more hygienic than grass), while purrballs chill in their own enclosed zone.

Unfortunately, booking isn’t always smooth. The website has acted up before, and email replies can take their sweet time.

No transport at the moment either, so yep, you’ll need to pop over in person.

At least Julies’ pricing makes sense for Perth, and daily rates already include general care, food/treats, playtime, and meds (if needed).

Pros

  • Open since 1988
  • More affordable rates
  • Only 25 mins from the Perth CBD
  • Uses pavilion runs instead of lawns

Cons

  • Slow email replies
  • No transport services

Lovely

Our girls love the place. The staff are lovely and always give us feedback on how the visit went.

We will use them again. Thanks to all for caring as much for our dogs as we do.

Wonderful, Friendly, and Helpful

No problems at all from commencement of the booking through to collection of my hound. Staff were all wonderful, friendly and helpful and looked after my boy well. He returned calm and relaxed (after the initial excitement of being collected!) I will gladly use Julie’s Kennels again.
