Pros

  • Very accomplished in academic and medical fields
  • Convenient online scheduling
  • Quick and transparent communication
  • Extremely professional, efficient, and knowledgeable

Cons

  • Appointment delays, rescheduling, and cancellations
  • Poor soft communication skills

Dr. Daphne Tsoi is an oncologist in Perth who specialises in different types of cancers. She has accomplished several milestones in her career, one of them being the inaugural director of the Murdoch Oncology Clinical Trials Unit.

Aside from her multiple medical practices, she can be found at the University of Notre Dame as an adjunct associate professor. She had been published in a number of peer-reviewed journals in breast cancer research.

From these achievements alone, we understand why she has a large number of patients.

They appreciate how concise she is in giving diagnoses. Many credit her for saving their lives.

We have to note, however, that Dr. Tsoi’s demeanour may not sit well with all kinds of patients. While many of her patients appreciate her quick and cutting assessments, others may need more than that.

For patients looking for comfort and reassurance over data and diagnoses, you may need to look elsewhere. We get the impression that Dr. Tsoi prefers to use her time with patients efficiently, emphasizing information over emotion.

Due to her multiple work obligations, her appointments can run into delays. If you’re looking to consult with an oncologist who is always punctual, she may not be the perfect match for you.

Pros

  • Extensive medical background
  • Very personable and optimistic
  • High rate of patient success

Cons

  • Unorganised administrative team
  • Schedules get delayed regularly
  • Appointment cancellations happen
  • Very short consultations

Dr. Andrew Dean has an impressive academic and professional background. Some of his medical affiliations include the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the Australian Medical Association.

We like that he has different methods to schedule appointments with him, including online. This can save potential patients so much time when booking consultations.

Dr. Dean has been known to have a very optimistic charm and outlook. Many patients find him very pleasant and honest.

We like that he strives to make the best out of the worst situations for his patients.

This could be the reason why patients line up to consult with him. As a result, many patients also find that their consultations can end up delayed or canceled.

Patients who do end up consulting with Dr. Dean feel rushed during their consultations due to delays from previous appointments. At times, cancelations even occur.

We attribute this to his team accepting too many patients at a time, which causes complications in scheduling. We suggest that when you do decide to schedule appointments with Dr. Dean, you will need to adjust your expectations.

Better yet, as one patient suggested, bring a book while you wait.

Pros

  • Extensive list of haemotological services
  • Online scheduling
  • Professional, knowledgeable, and friendly
  • Helpful reception staff

Cons

  • Appointment delays
  • Administrative issues with appointment scheduling

Dr. Ross Baker has been focused on haematological disorders for over 25 years, with vast clinical and laboratory experience. Haematological disorders can spill into several forms of cancers, linking these two fields closely.

He currently sits as the director of medical services at the Western Haematology and Oncology Clinics. This is on top of his designations with other organizations.

He currently has a wide range of services that target haemotological disorders, which include cancer. This allows him to cover several health issues that involve blood diseases.

Patients find him considerate and knowledgeable with a genuine interest in their welfare.

We also like that he’s prepared to discuss ongoing treatments and updates. This is especially reassuring when patients are stressed out.

We appreciate how appointments can be made online. This makes scheduling easier for everyone involved.

Kudos also to the helpful reception team that handles appointments.

However, too much helpfulness can also lead to inefficiency. We find that the reception team can sometimes accept too many patients.

They can also fail to consider that each consultation can go over time and affect other appointments.

Due to the time constraints, we feel that Dr. Baker can sometimes come up short when it comes to addressing questions. However, these instances are not regular, and we believe they can be fixed once appointments are allotted for longer time periods.

Pros

  • Extensive medical background
  • Warm, friendly reception team
  • Long clinic hours

Cons

  • Sudden appointment changes
  • Miscommunication about appointment schedules
  • No online appointments via clinic’s website

Dr. Simon Troon has a comprehensive medical background, contributing to several research papers on carcinoma.

We’re impressed that he has an extensive range of specialties. This benefits patients who may need someone who can cover a range of possible diagnoses.

Another great thing is that his clinic opens very early at seven and closes at six in the afternoon.

We also like that he got his certifications for MBBS in 1989 and FRACP in 1998. We believe this makes him even more skilled in treating his patients.

Many patients find him caring and considerate, especially those undergoing treatments. It may be reassuring for you to know that he’s praised for being compassionate and accommodating during stressful times.

His reception team is also noted to be helpful to patients, despite some instances when appointments need to be changed.

Their helpfulness can also create some challenges. There are instances when miscommunication can happen among Dr. Troon, his reception team, and the patients.

We believe this is due to delayed, rescheduled, or canceled appointments, despite the long clinic hours. These situations can cause misunderstandings among all parties.

For patients planning to schedule their appointments, this clinic may require you to be flexible with your time. Bringing a book or watching a movie on your phone can help you while away the time while you wait.

Pros

  • Specialist in extensive haematology disorders
  • Effective treatments
  • Updated approach to treating diseases

Cons

  • Longer waiting hours
  • No online appointments due to lack of website
  • Can only be contacted through telephone

Dr. Andrew McQuillan has special interests in haematology, which can extend into cancers associated with oncology. He has at least ten years of experience and works with several leading haematologists all over Australia.

He’s currently the medical director and a clinical haematologist at the Virtual Blood Center.

Dr. McQuillan is known to be a specialist with a great sense of humour that helps lift the spirits of his patients. We think that it’s great that he takes the time to explain the diagnoses of his patients while tempering them with wit and laughter.

We think his personality has allowed his patients to be more tolerant of his schedule. While most patients do experience appointment delays, they appreciate his time with them is informative yet lighthearted.

They also like how he approaches his treatment with the latest updated methods. We think this is commendable, and we believe it helps alleviate his patients’ apprehensions.

One thing we believe can be improved is their lack of online appointment scheduling. Putting up an online booking form will free up some time for the reception team and an added convenience to patients.

Additionally, with the right administrative team, delays can be reduced while improving their efficiency in handling appointments.
