We like how varied their menu is as well as its organisation. They have a dim sum menu, an à la carte menu, a lunch tasting menu, and set menus for groups.

They’re best known for their dim sum menu, but unfortunately, the quality can be a hit or miss. Regular customers have noticed that the quality of their dim sum is inconsistent, and it’s all a matter of luck if they are served high-quality food.

The quality of their à la carte menu items seems to be more consistent, and with Chinese food favourites like Peking duck and abalone soup, we have no doubt you’ll enjoy their food from this menu.

We do encourage you to come in during weekdays and make prior reservations, as they do tend to be busy. When they’re busy, it’s common for service to be slow, which can affect your dining experience.

Their prices are on par for gourmet restaurants, but with the inconsistent quality of food, we think it’s a tad overpriced. Furthermore, they also have a surcharge if you pay by card, and that’s something you need to be aware of once dining here.

Good Fortune Roast Duck House is a good option if you’re looking for an affordable way to enjoy Peking duck without breaking the bank.

You can order their roast duck in half or whole size, depending on the size of your group or appetite. Their ducks are freshly prepared every hour, and it’s unlikely for you to get ducks that are even a few hours old.

They have two locations in Perth, so you can choose which one would be most accessible to you. Both locations offer takeaway, so if you need roasted duck for a special event in your home, you can make an order either online or by phone.

Both their locations are designed like traditional Beijing restaurants, and they’re spacious enough for small groups without bumping into each other’s tables.

Unfortunately, there are complaints are about an inconsistent quality of food, especially with their other menu items. Some customers have reported that other menu items such as their BBQ pork tend to be dry and lacking flavour.

This may be because they focus on the quality of their roasted ducks, as this is what they’re known for. 

There were also some complaints about the restaurant’s staff for both locations, with customers noting that they were unfriendly and weren’t the most helpful.

This has negatively affected some of the customers’ dining experience, but others have stated that it wasn’t too much of a concern given the low prices and the quality of the food they ordered.

The Grand Orient Restaurant is located inside The Melbourne Hotel, giving each of their customers a luxurious dining experience by serving only the finest Chinese food.

They’re a great choice if you’re looking to have a fancy meal, but we encourage you to order Chinese food favourites like the Peking duck, bird’s nest soup, and their popular truffle fried rice.

This is because their menu can change without prior notice, and new or experimental dishes may not be as great as their established dishes.

This also means that some items may be removed from the menu, so it’s best that you call them and check if your favourites are still on the menu to avoid disappointment.

They do offer set menu items if you’re dining with a group of six to eight, and this is a more cost-efficient way to enjoy your dining experience while still having a good variety of food served.

Hong Kong BBQ House is our recommendation if you’re looking to have a great meal with generous serving sizes that won’t hurt your pocket.

We appreciate how they have a banquet menu that you can choose from if you’re coming in with a group of at least ten people.

But if you’re coming in with a small group, you can order from their regular menu, and some items even come with the choice of ordering in a small or large serving size.

Some menu items can be expensive, but this is mostly for fresh seafood that’s sold by the kilogramme and usually require a pre-order.

Their entire menu is available online, and we encourage you to check it out, especially if what you’re looking for may need to be ordered in advance.

It’s also possible that some regular menu items are unavailable on the day you’re dining in, so it’s a good idea to call ahead if what you plan to have is available.

Our other gripe with them is regarding the overall ambience of their restaurant. Their space is a bit cramped, and it’s possible that you might bump into other diners while you’re there.

If this bothers you, you can order their food for takeaway to enjoy it in the comforts of your own home.

Han Palace is a go-to restaurant for families, thanks to their banquet menu, which is applicable for groups of two and more.

The superior banquet costs $49.80 per person, while the deluxe banquet costs $59.80. For either option, you are free to choose your soup, entree, main course, side dish, and dessert.

You can also choose from their à la carte menu, which is what we advise if you don’t have as large of an appetite and want more control over your food.

Their menu items have a good price range, with some costing less than $10 and other more expensive picks like the scallops, prawns, and lamb ranging from $25 to $36.

We think the prices would be justifiable if they serve food of a consistent quality, but that isn’t always the case, even for the expensive dishes. Some customers have reported that their orders arrived dry or weren’t fresh.

We’ve also heard multiple reports of service being slow, despite the restaurant not being packed, so they may not be the best choice if you’re starving and need food served quickly.

However, the most worrying complaint we heard about was about a diner’s dietary restrictions not being fully accommodated, despite the restaurant being informed in advance.
