Seeing the colourful leaves along the Swan River can make you feel the magic of fall in Perth. The trees along the river transform into a stunning array of red, orange, and gold hues, creating a spectacular natural show in Kings Park and Botanic Garden.

While Perth may not have the dramatic foliage displays of places like New England, we believe that the city has its own charm during this season. For us, one way to experience it is by seeing the vibrant leaves falling around the Swan River.

We like that the vibrant shades of green give way to a stunning array of autumn hues. It’s as if nature itself is putting on a spectacular show, and we love being a part of it!

One of our favourite spots to see the colourful leaves nearby is in Kings Park and the Botanic Garden. It’s a haven for nature lovers year-round, but we feel it takes on an extra layer of beauty in the fall.

You can also enjoy panoramic views while strolling along Swan’s treetop walkway amid gorgeous foliage.

Just note that the best time to see the leaves in their full autumn glory is in April and May. This is when the weather starts to cool down and the leaves begin their transformation.

Pro tip:

We encourage packing a picnic for you to enjoy after your stroll along the Swan River! For us, there’s nothing quite like enjoying a meal amid the colourful leaves.

It’s also advisable to bring a blanket, some delicious snacks, and your favourite company, and you’re in for a memorable experience! You can find designated picnic areas in Kings Park too, complete with stunning river views.
