Pros
- Has a clubhouse and BBQ facility
- Tennis coaching lessons for both kids and adult players
- Good facilities with different tennis courts available
- Long operating hours
Cons
- High rates for non-members
- Non-members can only play at certain days of the week
South Perth Tennis Centre offers good facilities to both members and visitors of their tennis club. They welcome all those interested in the game, from complete beginners to professional tennis players.
This tennis club is open every day of the week between 5 AM and 11:30 PM. Their long operating hours accommodate many activities.
Tennis players can choose from the various courts they have at their facility. They have natural grass courts, synthetic grass courts, and Plexipave hard courts.
They offer both casual and tournament-style tennis games to their members. I joined their beginners’ tournament once, and it was definitely a great time even though I lost before I reached the semis.
This tennis club also has coaches who can train both beginners and professional tennis players. Their coaching lessons are flexible and can be tailored specifically to the skills the players want to improve on.
The best thing about the South Perth Tennis Centre is that it also has great after-play activities. Their facility has its own clubhouse and BBQ spot which I had the chance to try out after the tournament.
However, a downside to this tennis club is that it pushes its visitors too much to get a membership. Non-members must pay a hefty fee to play on their courts, and they can only play at specific times and on specific days.

Pros
- Good set of amenities
- Friendly and welcoming community
- Affordable prices
- Has its own tennis equipment shop
Cons
- Only one type of tennis court surface available
- Very limited operating hours on certain days
Sorrento Tennis Club has a friendly community of coaches and players. This tennis club is a great place not only to hone your skills but to also make new friends.
This one’s actually a special tennis club for me. I’ve met tons of great people throughout my many visits here.
One of them is Tom, who’s now actually one of my best buddies!
The atmosphere at Sorrento Tennis Club is great, especially if you’re new and quite shy around other people. The players and coaches here are more than eager to share their knowledge and skills with those who’d like to learn about tennis.
For me, the biggest reason why this tennis club is a great spot to visit is because of its good amenities. It has its own bar, a clubhouse, and a BBQ spot where players can have a friendly chat after playing.
It even has a kitchen where you can cook complex meals that you can share with your fellow players. Also, this tennis club has good toilet and shower facilities, so players can wash up well after gruelling matches.
Players can also purchase all their tennis equipment and accessories from the shop inside Sorrento Tennis Club.
Another good thing about this tennis club is that its prices are affordable even to non-members. They sometimes let visitors play for free if the demand is too low on that day.
However, a downside to Sorrento Tennis Club is that Plexipave hard courts are the only tennis courts they have in their facility. Players who prefer playing on natural grass will have to look elsewhere.
This tennis club also has very limited hours on weekends. Players can play only until noon on Sundays.
3. Loton Park Tennis Club

Pros
- A welcoming community to LGBT members
- Discounted membership fees on certain conditions
- Visitors play for free on first visit
Cons
- No coaching programs offered
- More than half the tennis courts unavailable on certain months
Loton Park Tennis Club is focused on being a tennis club that promotes inclusivity and diversity. Everyone is welcome in their club, and they don’t discriminate based on sexual orientation.
Their members are allies of the LGBT community. All visitors wouldn’t need to worry about facing discrimination or hatred from their fellow tennis players.
This tennis club also has a clubhouse where players can relax and mingle after the games. It has one of the best communities for tennis players who want to have a great time.
A good thing about Loton Park is its low membership prices. New members, players under the age of 30, and concession card owners are entitled to generous discounts on their membership fees.
They also incentivise visitors to try tennis by letting them play for free on their first visit. Subsequent visits only require visitors to pay $15 for an entire afternoon if they’re not members.
My first visit here was super fun. I was a complete stranger yet the players here gave me a warm welcome and were cool enough to let me join some of their matches.
They even left me some useful tips on how I can improve my form and technique.
However, a downside to Loton Park Tennis Club is that it doesn’t offer professional coaching sessions. Fellow players here can teach you, but you won’t be getting an actual coach to help you learn more about tennis.
This tennis club also has eight tennis courts in total with six of them being natural grass surfaces. These six courts are closed in the months between October and May for maintenance.

Pros
- 32 tennis courts available
- Offers group and private coaching lessons
- Has a bar and kitchen available
- Well-maintained landscape and amenities
Cons
- Above-average prices
- No real membership option available
Robertson Park Tennis Centre is one of the biggest tennis clubs in Perth. Their great coaching lessons make them a solid choice for both amateur and professional tennis players.
This tennis club offers an amazing number of 32 tennis courts. They have 12 synthetic grass courts, 14 natural grass courts, and six hard courts with floodlights for nighttime games.
Their hard courts are our favourite spot to play on when someone wants to play a tennis match at night. The floodlights are strong and well-positioned which makes playing tennis at night hardly different when compared to playing during the day.
Players can also enjoy some social activities after the games. Robertson Park Tennis Centre features good amenities, including a kitchen and bar for hosting large events.
Visitors can also relax in their facilities and simply watch the games. Their tennis club features an impressive landscape that is maintained by professional landscapers.
I sometimes sit at one of their benches after a morning jog just to see others play.
Furthermore, tennis players who want to start learning or improve their game can learn through Robertson Park Tennis Centre’s coaches.
Their coaches are professional tennis players who can teach in both group sessions and one-on-one sessions. These sessions are offered in two types: junior coaching and adult coaching.
However, a downside to Robertson Park Tennis Centre is its above-average prices. Most of their activities are more expensive compared to other tennis clubs in the city.
It also doesn’t have a membership option where long-time customers can join to score discounts on activities and services. All customers must pay the prices as they are, with no chance to get lower rates under a membership plan.
5. Alexander Park Tennis Club

Pros
- High-quality tennis courts
- Highly-experienced professional tennis coaches
- Hosts multiple tournaments for different skill levels
- Clubhouse and bar on-site
Cons
- Contact services unavailable on weekends
- Pricey membership plans
Alexander Park Tennis Club is a well-respected tennis club located in Menora. This tennis club was established in 1932 and has gained a reputation as one of the best tennis clubs to play at in Perth.
It features some of the best tennis courts I’ve seen. I played here once, and I noticed right away the quality of their Plexipave tennis courts before I even started a match.
The impressive quality of Alexander Park Tennis Club’s courts is a big reason why most professional players choose this tennis club. A better surface lets the ball bounce better, which leads to better performance on the players’ part.
Alexander Park Tennis Club also keeps its members active through the numerous tournaments it holds every week. Each skill level has its own tournament, so all players will have a chance to show off their skills.
Another thing I’d like to mention is their professional tennis coaches. The coaching program is led by Ian Ketteringham, a recipient of the WA Club Coach of the Year who has more than 30 years of experience teaching tennis.
Ketteringham and his team of tennis coaches can teach the game to both beginners and professional players. Their program has already produced talents who have won in state and national tournaments.
Alexander Park Tennis Club also offers a bar and clubhouse for players to relax after the games. It regularly holds parties and social events to encourage members to mingle and make friends.
However, a downside to the tennis Club is that its membership fees can be pricey, especially at the top tier. Their full adult membership costs $530 to register.
Its management can also only answer inquiries or concerns from 9 AM to 5 PM on weekdays.
