Stay connected with the best telecommunication services in Perth
Finally settling down after years of being a digital nomad is refreshing. I finally have my own bed and a pet too! But now I also need a stable Internet connection. Hotel and cafe Wi-Fi aren’t my lifelines anymore.
Moving to Perth meant shopping for a new telecom service. Thankfully, my years of hopping from city to city, chasing the strongest Wi-Fi signal like a caffeinated bloodhound prepared me for this.

Telstra is an easy choice because they’re the largest telecom service in the country. In addition, they have reliable Internet connections available for almost all areas in the country with 78 mbps average download speed and 12 mbps average upload speed.
Their pricing plans for individual users also have flexible terms, and most do not require lock-ins. They’re also available for major phone brands (Apple, Samsung, and Google) and connectivity networks (5G, satellite, and broadband).
They have some of the most reliable connections for home Internet and mobile broadband. In addition, their data and internet packages come with good entertainment deals like access to Spotify, Binge, Foxtel, and more.
Security is also one of their strengths, as they have stringent cyber and data protection protocols through malicious call and email filters, 2-step verifications, and layered firewall controls.
That said, their fees are some of the priciest in Australia. Also, they’ve received complaints for slow response to emails.

iiNet is a solid choice for its affordable plans with good data allocations and speeds: 182 Mbps download and 26 Mbps upload. Notably, their limitless Internet plan is also at just $49.99.
Founded in 1993, they offer one of the broadest selections for Internet connection which includes broadband, cable, DSL, FTTB, fiber, and 5G.
They cater well to people who are moving across cities because they provide free re-activation, number retention, and no-lock-in contracts. Plus, it’s easy to change your current plan in case your new location can’t support your former plan.
Their SIM plans are very affordable, with 8 GB for $10 per month. Plus, all options include unlimited calls and texts, making them even more appealing.
However, their Internet speeds can be unstable at times. They’ve also received complaints for not meeting their promised Internet installation dates.

When I was looking for a new provider I contacted another high profile company and the two staff that I spoke to were extremely pushy to the point of being aggressive. I contacted iiNet and was very impressed with the service and their plans. I joined approximately 18 months ago and have not regretted it once. Service is prompt, any issues are quickly resolved, compensation is offered if an issue can’t be resolved immediately, and all staff have been extremely helpful.”

Belong offers hefty data allocation for an affordable price. With their 400 GB mobile broadband plan, each GB is priced at $0.18.
The company is all about digital convenience, providing a website and an app where it’s easy to order a SIM, choose your Internet connection, and manage ongoing plans. This reduces the need to visit a physical store.
They’re one of the few in Perth that offer unlimited Internet data. Their internet speeds are also generally stable at an average of 40 Mbps for download speed and 14 Mbps upload speed.
On the flip side, they’re sometimes a couple of days behind schedule for Internet installation. They’re also generally slow to act on refund requests.
Great coverage is the best thing.

Optus is a top choice for telecommunications in Perth due to its reliable coverage, even outside the CBD. They offer fast Internet speeds, averaging 95 Mbps for downloads and 196 Mbps for uploads.
They have various connection packages for different budgets and amounts of data needed. They also offer regular promos and deals.
On my visit to their Warwick branch, I was impressed by the short waiting time and the good advice of their representative. In addition, they were able to provide a 5G connection to my home within the timeline they promised.
Plus, it’s convenient to manage multiple services (like Internet, mobile data, and roaming service) from them through their intuitively designed mobile app.
In terms of downsides, however, their response rates to emails are inconsistent. Additionally, some clients report that the company takes time to resolve connectivity issues, with some cases taking a couple of weeks to be addressed.

Vodafone is a solid choice because they give huge discounts if you avail of multiple gadgets from them through the Bundle & Save Plan. This is particularly beneficial for families who are purchasing multiple phones, tablets, data or Internet plans, and more.
Moreover, their Internet plans have short contracts (just 1 month) and no data limits. Their basic plans are also priced reasonably.
Compared to other providers, Vodafone’s 5G connections are more stable outside the CBD. Their average download speed is 67 Mbps while their average upload speed is 5 Mbps.
Adding to the convenience, Vodafone operates 250 physical stores nationwide, making in-store visits more accessible. Their phone representatives are also quick to answer, which is a plus.
That said, they’ve received some complaints for taking weeks to respond to clients who want to disconnect their Internet connection. Also, their international roaming rates are pricey.
