The 5 Mobile Roadworthy Inspections in Perth to Get You Driving Up to Speed!

  • Proven Track Record - I selected companies that have built a solid reputation in Perth and even included shops that are approved by the Department of Transportation to carry out inspection services.
  • Scope of Inspection Work - I’ve included shops that conduct comprehensive inspections covering all essential checkpoints across various vehicle types. These inspections encompass everything from the exterior and interior to the engine, brakes, and more. The more thorough the checklist, the better!
  • Affordability - I chose shops that offer reasonable rates wherein their customer service, scope of inspection work, and turnaround time justify the price they offer.
  • Turnaround Time- I selected shops that deliver their services in a timely manner and carry out inspections, call-outs, and even safety certifications without delays. I even included shops that offer same-day services.

My dad, a vintage car enthusiast, finally bought his dream ride, but the urge to hit the road was overwhelming. I had to remind him that before cruising off, he needed a mobile roadworthy inspection to ensure his classic beauty was in tip-top shape.

A roadworthy inspection and safety certification is mandatory before a vehicle is legally road-ready. Fortunately, many Perth auto shops offer mobile inspections, letting you get it done right at home.

If you’re looking to purchase a new car or want to have your car examined for roadworthiness, here are the top mobile roadworthy inspections in Perth that you can trust!

AME Automotive lives up to its name, delivering mobile roadworthy inspections throughout Perth and surrounding areas for over a decade. Their extensive expertise across various aspects of vehicle roadworthiness makes them a reliable choice.

They inspect everything from engines, transmissions, and fluid leaks to steering, suspension, radiators, lights, electrical systems, and wheels.

When they inspected my car, I found them punctual, thorough, and meticulous, ensuring no detail was missed before wrapping up the inspection.

I was also pleased to learn that they include a full car wash and clean, a gift bag, an air freshener, and fuel card coupons.

A big plus is that they are a Department of Transportation-certified car inspection station, which really gives you peace of mind.

However, their services don’t come cheap. Fortunately, I managed to negotiate the original quote they sent, which definitely helped!

Pros

  • Lots of perks
  • Over 30 years of experience

Cons

  • Pricey

Staff that go out of their way

“This place was great. They managed to squeeze me in for a last minute service, and busted their arses to get it done. The crew here were working hard all day, and still delivered quality.

They cleaned the inside and outside of my car, which was a bonus I didn’t expect. They also put an air freshener in and a bag of lollies too. They’ve got loan cars if you ask them and are very honest and up front.”

“Anthony was very friendly and professional as I made a short-notice booking for a DOT inspection. Would come back again”

Their services include body analysis, rust and accident damage inspections, fluid checks, exhaust assessments, and upholstery inspections, making their inspections among the most thorough in the city. They even conduct test drives to ensure the steering, transmission, brakes, and engine are functioning smoothly.

However, their weekend closure can be inconvenient for those needing to reschedule, making the process feel drawn out.

  • Over 30 years of experience
  • Extensive inspection scope

Cons

  • Closed on weekends

Cars run better than ever

“Rang Danny at the Car Doctor last Thursday. He gave me a quote over the phone and had availability to get the job done following Tuesday. Great quote. Also fixed a gearbox mount and did the relevant seals while the clutch was getting fitted. Car runs better than ever. Highly recommend these guys! Cheers”

For trailer, truck, and caravan roadworthiness, ANG Automotives is a reliable choice. As an authorised AIS under the Department of Transport, they inspect a wide range of vehicles, including school buses, taxis, sedans, motorcycles, and carnet vehicles.

If you own a vintage car, I highly recommend them. Their comprehensive checks cover engines, oil leaks, transmissions, brakes, and more.

They also offer re-inspection services after repairs or upgrades, and they even accommodate temporary visitor vehicles—a great bonus for overseas travellers.

When booking their mobile services, I suggest calling them directly rather than emailing, as they respond faster by phone and can quickly address any questions about the process.

Though their inspections are limited to office hours, their customer service is available 24/7 for support.

Pros

  • Best for vintage cars
  • Covers overseas temporary visitor vehicles

Cons

  • Inconsistent customer service

A pleasure to work with

“This is my 5th car with these guys, and I always received A1 service and they are very helpful and guide you where needed. Especially Ali, he is fantastic and has inspected a couple of my cars. Great work ethics, and he is very polite and patient in answering all my questions when I fail inspection. It’s always a pleasure to come here and deal with him. They always fit me in on short notice. Highly recommend the whole team and especially Ali.”

“Gav and their team helped me out with a flexible inspection time due to transport delays. I’ve used this business for years and find their online booking system and outcomes great.”

Stateroads conducts over 250 inspection points during pre-purchase roadworthiness checks, offering thorough evaluations. When my brother considered buying a luxury European car, he hired them and was impressed with their service.

They provide same-day inspections if needed, covering everything from wheels, tyres, and suspensions to electrical systems, engines, brakes, transmissions, exhausts, and more—even road tests and interior fittings.

However, they only specialise in pre-purchase inspections, so you’ll need another service for re-examinations.

Stateroads also offers a 30-day warranty, but it’s limited to cars driven under 1,000 km and applies only to their Platinum Inspection Package—something my brother wasn’t aware of until after his car was ineligible.

Pros

  • Offers same-day service
  • Over 250 inspection points

Cons

  • Limited warranty
  • Limited to pre-purchase inspections

Very detailed mechanics

“Couldn’t recommend the Team at Stateroads WA more! Jo has a great team from Jeremy the mechanic I have been dealing with to Lisa in the office. She explained the whole process to me top to bottom and was the reason I went with Stateroads. Very happy with my decision. Jeremy did a great job detailing the issues with my prospective car and giving a recommendation if I should by it or not. I’ve used them on several occasions. What I really value is that they’re available to talk through your report, and will gladly take time to answer all your questions regarding the car. When Jeremy wasn’t available I was actually out through straight to Jo the boss and he was very insightful and seemed like a good guy. 10/10 recommend this over something like RAC.”

Booking an appointment with Westmec Services was smooth and hassle-free. I once helped my mom get her car inspected, and they were available even in the early hours of the morning, which was a huge relief.

My mom, who’s very particular about her car, appreciated how the technicians treated it as if it were their own. They responded quickly to our call and accommodated us outside of regular hours—thanks to their 24/7 availability.

While their services are on the pricier side, starting at $285 for a 105-point safety check, there’s no call-out fee, which is a nice perk.

Although their inspection covers fewer points than some competitors (who average 200+), their excellent customer service and round-the-clock availability more than make up for it.

They also offer free history checks (worth $30) for eligible vehicles, which is a great bonus.

Pros

  • Offers 24/7 inspections
  • Seamless booking process

Cons

  • Limited inspection points
  • Pricey

Very efficient and great to communicate with

“Thomas did a pre-purchase vehicle inspection for me. Was thorough, well priced and very efficient, it was completed barely more than 24 hours after my initial inquiry. Excellent to deal with, great communication. I would highly recommend him to anyone.”

Work that goes above expectations

“Thomas completed a Pre-Purchase vehicle inspection for me at late notice and went well above my expectations.

He provided a very comprehensive inspection report but even better was that he offered to video call me whilst at the vehicle – taking me through all the items of concern and showing me key items I requested.

Highly recommend and would use him again if I needed to buy interstate.”
