Midwife Catherine is an absolute gem in the midwifery community, with over 35 years of experience. She’s an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant and offers a range of services, from antenatal care to postnatal support, including home visits and breastfeeding guidance.
While her list of services offered is already quite impressive, it’s made even better once I realised that she offers exceptional extended care to new mothers. This goes beyond the usual postnatal support, as it provides continuous support for the mother and her baby for up to or more than seven weeks.
You can access most of her services easily and cheaply, thanks to the affordable packages she provides. She can also bulk bill her services for Health Care Card holders, saving them the hassle of filing paperwork.
However, it’s a bit disappointing to hear that she sometimes fails to respond to enquiries.
Pros
- Over 35 years of experience
- Can do home visits
- Offers extended care to new mothers
- Can bulk bill services
Cons
- Sometimes fails to respond to enquiries
- Unavailable on weekends
I credit her for saving the breastfeeding journey to date
“Catherine was extremely helpful, knowledgeable and supportive. She picked up a tongue tie issue with my child that many others did not. She followed up long after the initial appointment assisting with issues in milk supply. I credit her for saving the breastfeeding journey to date. Couldn’t recommend her more highly.”

Vicki Hobbs is a well-known midwife who has been assisting new mothers in Perth since 2004. She offers a range of services, like hypnobirthing classes, VBAC education, private sessions, and even pregnancy massages.
You can access most of her services through her online courses and teleconferencing sessions.
However, one thing that makes her stand out from the rest is her Mother Blessings service. Based on a Navajo custom, this ceremony aims to nurture and empower an expecting mother through a variety of activities such as massages, facials, hair braiding, and even belly painting.
Vicki also offers a special service called placenta encapsulation, which involves preparing the placenta for consumption after childbirth. This practice is rooted in traditional Chinese medicine and is believed to help new mothers recover more quickly after giving birth.
Just take note that she doesn’t offer bulk billing for her services!
Pros
- 20 years of experience
- Can do virtual sessions
- Offers placenta encapsulation
- Can host Mother Blessings ceremonies
Cons

Was a huge help for us for all things pregnancy and labour!
“Vicki and her ‘back to basics’ class was a huge help for us for all things pregnancy and labour!
As first time parents ‘to be’ we appreciated the friendliness of the group and Vicki’s welcoming nature! The environment was relaxed and fun and felt extremely personal!
Vicki has even extended her help for any extra support that we may need throughout!
Definitely recommend!”

Vicki made my husband & I feel a lot more in control
“Vicki was great, we went to her for our first pregnancy as I was very anxious about the birthing experience. Vicki made my husband & I feel a lot more in control with the process by giving us tips and tricks to do while in labour. She is so kind & explains all the information perfectly. I would highly recommend!”

Bundle & Me is a pregnancy practice that was founded in 2016 by two experienced midwives, Cheryl and Deyana. If I may confess, this is the one that I picked to help my close friend experience a safe delivery of her baby.
That’s because they offer a diverse range of services, from antenatal care and birth support to postnatal care and lactation consulting. More importantly, they have their own obstetrician-gynaecologist, Dr. Stas Vashevnik, who can provide medical services should a pregnancy be at risk.
Another amazing thing about Bundle & Me is that it offers pregnancy and newborn photography services. Their perfectly captured photos were of big help to us when we were preparing for my friend’s baby shower.
If there’s one thing I dislike about them, it’s their tendency to become fully booked quickly.
Pros
- 8 years of experience
- Can do home visits
- 6 locations in Perth
- Has its own obstetrician-gynaecologist
- Offers pregnancy and newborn photography
Cons
- Tends to become fully booked quickly
- Charges travel fees for home visits
Supported me through my pregnancy, birth and postpartum journey
“Deyana from Bundle & me supported me through my pregnancy, birth and postpartum journey. As a first time mum it made all the difference knowing I was in the best hands and was able to navigate this new chapter with the best care and support on offer. Aside from generous support, all the advice I was given was evidence based. Breastfeeding was challenging and times where I wanted to give up Deyana was only a call or message away, supporting me with any decision I made whilst offering her professional opinion. My own bundle and I are forever grateful to her and the team!”

If you’re looking for a flexible partner to help you with your pregnancy, come check out Perth Maternity. Based in Success, they boast a team of midwives with a combined experience of more than 90 years.
So how flexible are they? Well, they primarily offer their wide range of services under two models: shared care and personalised care.
Under the shared care model, they’ll work closely with your chosen birthing hospital to provide seamless support, education, and monitoring. Plus, all appointments are bulk-billed and conveniently located within community clinics.
Meanwhile, their personalised care model is focused on providing full guidance and support throughout your pregnancy, delivery, and postnatal period. This model also includes telehealth support and planning sessions to ensure you’re well-prepared for birth.
Sadly, the personalised model isn’t bulk-billed, which is a shame since it’s pretty pricey.
Pros
- Combined experience of more than 90 years
- Offers shared and personalised care models
- Can provide telehealth support
Cons
- Personalised care model can’t be bulk billed
- Above-average prices for personalised care
