Pros

  • Generous servings
  • Good availability
  • Great location
  • Good quality of food
  • Extensive wine collection

Cons

  • Inconsistent quality of service
  • Service can be slow

If you’re looking for a fine dining experience right in the heart of Perth, Balthazar is your way to go. Because it’s just less than five minutes away from Elizabeth Quay, you won’t find trouble dining here.

You can choose to walk in, as availability usually isn’t a problem, except for public holidays, where they charge a 15% surcharge even for reservations. However, reservations are still highly recommended to avoid the possibility of waiting.

We all know how fine dining restaurants usually only serve small servings, but this isn’t the case for Balthazar. We find their servings to be pretty generous and worth the price you’re paying for.

They also have an extensive wine collection, and you can even bring a bottle home after your meal! Additionally, they can also help you get started on your own wine collection and put your cellar together.

Their à la carte menu has a good variety of dishes including vegetables, duck, kangaroo meat, beef, and pork. They have seafood on the menu, although the specific meal will depend on what’s fresh and in season.

Despite all these good remarks, some customers complained about the quality of service, especially with some menu items being served late.

Not only that, but some felt that the wait staff were not accommodating and made little effort to make their meal as enjoyable as possible.

This has led to some customers claiming that while the meal was good, the total price they paid should’ve been reflected in the quality of the service as well.

Pros

  • Has vegan and vegetarian options
  • Has 4, 6, and 8-course tasting options
  • Follows the indigenous 6 farmer seasons
  • Good bar and wine selection

Cons

  • Service can be slow
  • Can be noisy
  • Small portions

Wildflower is perhaps one of the most popular fine dining restaurants in Perth—and for good reason. They offer a unique take on farm-to-table cuisine, and we especially like how they follow the indigenous six farmer seasons.

You can choose between their four, six, or eight-course tasting menu. While their servings are pretty small for each meal, this allows you to savour and finish each meal on the tasting menu without feeling too stuffed.

Their small servings have led to some complaints from customers, but in our opinion, the price you pay is made worth it by the quality of ingredients they use and the expertise that goes into preparing your meal.

Because they follow the indigenous six farmer seasons, you can come back at different times of the year and have completely different meals served to you, enjoying only the best the Australian farmlands have to offer.

However, some customers have complained about the overall ambience of the restaurant, with the acoustics of the place not being able to absorb enough sound to give you a relaxing atmosphere while you dine.

Furthermore, there were some reports of service being slow, but this is usually when the place is packed on weekends.

To get the best dining experience, we encourage you to call ahead for a reservation on weekday nights and ask for a table by the window to enjoy the view.

Pros

  • Has children’s and high tea menu
  • Great view
  • Has vegetarian and vegan options
  • 2 and 5-course meal options
  • Reasonable prices

Cons

  • Inconsistent quality of food
  • Multiple complaints on service
  • Has wastage fee for high tea

Located at the 33rd floor of St Martins Tower, C Restaurant in the Sky is a great option if you’re looking to enjoy a good meal while having a great view of the Perth Metro—unless you’re afraid of heights.

They’re open daily, and you can choose between a two and five-course meal for dinner. If you want to have lunch, you can order from their à la carte menu, and we especially like how they have a children’s menu for your kids to choose from.

For a fine dining restaurant, we find their prices to be reasonable. Their two-course meal costs $99 per head, with additional courses at $21 each.

Meanwhile, their five-course meal is at $119 for the vegetarian option and $135 for the regular meal, with the option to add matching wine for $49. Meanwhile, the children’s menu is $45 with a main course and dessert.

Unfortunately, the drawback is that they don’t serve consistent quality food, with some customers complaining about the lack of effort when it comes to plating their dishes.

Not only that, but we also heard multiple complaints regarding their service. One customer noted that despite making a reservation in advance, they arrived to discover that their table was yet to be prepared.

If you’re coming in for high tea, you need to be aware of the $50 wastage fee if you book with a credit card. Furthermore, some complained that the pastries served for high tea were not made fresh, and the staff confirmed it.

Pros

  • High-quality food and ingredients
  • Serves a 7-course omakase menu
  • Can bring your own beverages
  • 3-hour meal
  • Great service

Cons

  • Only open 4 days a week
  • Not fit for kids
  • Cannot accommodate all dietary requests
  • Can be difficult to get a reservation

It’s rare to find a great fine dining experience for Japanese cuisine, but this is exactly what Marumo offers. The restaurant’s head chef, Chef Moe, had 13 years of experience before opening up his own restaurant.

Marumo offers a seven-course omakase (chef’s selection menu) to each diner. Thus, there’s no set menu available; instead, it depends on the availability of fresh seafood, meat, and produce in season.

Because they’re only open four days a week, it can be tough to get a reservation. However, we can assure you that waiting a few weeks—or months!—before eventually enjoying your meal here is worth it.

Each reservation is good for three hours, giving you enough time to enjoy your meal and fully savour every flavour. Additionally, customers were quick to commend the wait staff, saying that they were attentive and quick to respond.

Due to the nature of omakase, not all dietary requests can be accommodated, so we encourage you to let them know of any special requests you may have once you make a reservation.

Furthermore, because the food varies and Japanese cuisine is not exactly known for being child-friendly, the restaurant doesn’t recommend their dinner for children below 12.

However, if your child has a taste for Japanese food, you are free to bring them along with you, although we don’t think the servings will be enough if your kid has a large appetite.

5. Nobu

Pros

  • View overlooks the Swan River
  • Has private dining rooms
  • Luxurious dining experience
  • Has omakase and à la carte menu

Cons

  • Limited availability
  • Inconsistent quality of food
  • Tables are close together

Of course, this Perth fine dining list wouldn’t be complete without Nobu. Being one of the most popular fine dining restaurants known around the world, dining in Nobu is an experience that you shouldn’t miss out.

Should you dine here, you’ll find yourself in a luxurious dining experience with a view overlooking the Swan River. They have individual tables and seats by the sushi bar if you’d like the experience of the chef cutting your sushi or sashimi in front of you.

They have both à la carte and omakase menu options, but if you’re choosing the latter, the whole table must participate, as the meals will be specially made for the number of diners on your table.

Nobu is unlike traditional Japanese restaurants, so don’t expect meals to be served or presented in the traditional Japanese way.

It’s Japanese cuisine with some South American influence, so expect to have some spice in your dishes that otherwise wouldn’t be found in traditional and authentic Japanese cuisine.

That doesn’t mean to say they don’t serve usual Japanese dishes like sushi, sashimi, and wagyu. In fact, wagyu is one of the things Nobu is most known for.

However, some customers complained about the inconsistent quality of food served in their dishes.

Others who’ve had the chance to dine in different Nobu locations around the world said that their time here didn’t match up to their past experience in other Nobu restaurants.

Furthermore, the effort you have to take to book a table here can affect your overall dining experience, which ideally should be relaxing and enjoyable.
