The consultation is thorough and covers your photographic vision, preferences, and any specific ideas you may have.

That thoughtful approach carries into the studio, which feels like a cosy home. That makes the shoot much less intimidating. 

The team can also book you on a quiet weekday morning to keep things private.

Once the shoot is done, you can order premium wall art and presentation boxes for your final images. 

The team also takes a personalised storytelling approach.

That said, the studio isn’t boudoir-only, since they also shoot families and pets. They’re also closed on Sundays and Mondays.

I was comfortable throughout the shoot and respect any boundaries I may have had.

I also feel it is important to note that I opted for a boudoir shoot. As it is a very intimate shoot I was contacted several times regarding themes I was interested in, aspects of my personality I could showcase and what I’d be comfortable wearing. Crooked Images is a female- and non-binary led studio run by Lauren Crooke. Their focus is on body-positive photos that help you feel seen instead of objectified.

That approach runs through every session. The studio’s mission is to change how society views the female form. 

You also get expert posing guidance the whole time, which takes the pressure off if you feel awkward.

To make the day even more special, the team offers luxury maternity and bridal shoots. You get curated robes and chilled Prosecco too.

The one catch is that the studio may not suit you if you want a very traditional glamour shoot. You also need to book ahead, since there are no walk-ins.

I also appreciate the variety of sessions they offer. You can book intimate couples shoots or classic glamour sessions in a private space. 

The polished style also gives your photos a timeless look.

Privacy is a big part of the experience too. Bookings are spaced so you won’t run into other clients. That helps if you feel nervous about undressing.

That said, availability is limited, since the studio only opens four days a week by appointment. They’re closed Sunday through Tuesday, so plan your session well ahead.

I would absolutely recommend this experience to anyone considering it.

The studio also promises not to share photos without permission.

The main drawback is the location. The studio is in Darlington, so it can mean more travel from western Perth. 

There’s also a travel fee for locations more than 50 kilometres from the city centre.

She’s also one of the longest-running boudoir specialists in the area. 

The studio supports the Beyond Fifty campaign too, which shows that boudoir sessions are intended for women of all ages.

However, thee studio is in The Vines, so it’s a little outside the city centre. It’s also closed on Sundays.

Highly recommend Jess she is hands down the best boudoir photographer in Perth!
