The best toy stores in Perth have something for kids & kids-at-heart!
Toy stores are ageless. Even now, with tablets and apps everywhere, they continue to draw crowds of adults and kids alike.
Take our fam, for example: I have a soft spot for Pokémon cards, while my little one and hubby are mad about Hot Wheels. That means our weekends are mostly spent on aisles shopping for the next bundle or model to add to our collection.
All that browsing has its other benefits aside from helping us bond, such as helping us realise which stores get things right and which ones fail.
Need the names of the former? I listed and broke them down below.

You’ll find all sorts of toys at Toyworld Fremantle. The big brands are well stocked here, such as LEGO, Barbie, Fisher-Price, Schleich, and Hot Wheels, and if you’re not after them, a hundred alternatives are in store.
We don’t have major criticisms about the staff either. My fellow hobbyists feel the same way, especially with Marcus, who’s fab at dealing with queries and providing recommendations.
That said, the prices might set you back a fair whack. Discounts ease it a bit, but the top names can sting with most rates kicking off at $25.
Funko Pop collectors might find Target Fremantle the better spot, too. Toyworld doesn’t stack them.
Fortunately, the range is still huge, like the store itself. I’ve even bought costumes and painting materials here!
The click and collect system also works, perfect for avoiding delivery fees (or if you’re not a fan of direct contact).
Great Stock of Toys
I love this Toyworld—staff are super nice and helpful, with a great stock of toys and a generous carpark. I’ve been coming to this store since the ’70s.

The Play Room is where I snagged most of my kids’ educational and developmental toys. That has been their bread and butter for over 50 years, you know.
Now, I’m not saying that’s all they have. Popular picks such as LEGO and Brio train sets are sold here, along with 100-plus other brands, which amount to over 10,000 products!
I also dig their setup; it encourages exploration and interaction with the toys, allowing shoppers to get a feel of the products before paying up. This is super handy for pricier names like LEGO.
Speaking of prices, the tags aren’t exactly wallet-friendly. Browsing the online store, which offers lower costs, can be a workaround, though it takes away the immersive edge.
Customer service can be hit-and-miss as well. While some folks are solid in terms of know-how and politeness, others can come off as rude and complacent.
Best Range of Toys
Not only the best range of toys in Perth and my go-to for gifts, but when I received the wrong item in my online order, Mel resolved it quickly and efficiently. Very impressed 😊

Visited about a month ago and spent 1.5 hours exploring everything. Staff were more than helpful, offering assistance multiple times! Only downside? Wanting everything on offer!

One bit I love about Toymate Cannington is that it’s far from being dreary. The store is well-lit, colourful (just look at their rainbow-y facade), and thoughtfully curated, a sweet perk given that you have over 100 brands to peruse here.
It’s also massive and play-friendly, so don’t be shocked if you see kids playing around. Honestly, that’s a clever way to let them test the goods…or wear themselves out (wink).
As for the staff, they’re usually helpful, especially if you need assistance in carrying bags to the parking lot.
The prices, though, aren’t light on the pocket, especially if you’re aiming for iconic brands such as LEGO, Marvel, or Pokémon, with the high-quality options kicking off at around $20.
Not every item can be ordered online, either. This limits the convenience for shoppers who’d rather not travel to Cannington.
On the bright side, their Christmas discounts are jolly-big.
Excellent Customer Support
Iris is the definition of a kind and understanding worker. Excellent customer support in a very clean and welcoming store. Perfect for buying gifts for kids—definitely purchasing here again!

If you’re in Perth’s anime and gaming scene, you’ve probably heard of Tokyo Underground. This family-run store was a Hay St icon for over 17 years before moving to Wanneroo Markets last year.
Product-wise, Genshin Impact keychains, TCGs, stickers, posters, Studio Ghibli memorabilia, figurines, manga, and even vinyls are up for grabs. The clincher is that they’re often priced reasonably.
Limited variety is a drawback, however, especially if you (or your kids) aren’t big on anime or Japan. Staple brands such as LEGO and Hot Wheels are also missing, and most of the items are fan-made collectables.
On top of that, it’s relatively smaller compared to our other entries here. That’s a glaring catch if you value space when shopping.
Thankfully, customer service isn’t drab. The owners are generally described as warm and helpful, and the store has that communal vibe, with relaxing music to boot.
Fantastic Range
The business owners are lovely and made me feel very welcome when I visited. They have a fantastic range of imported Pokémon cards, gifts, and toys—perfect for Christmas stocking fillers. Planning to head back sometime for the mini blocks sets.

Love the Place
Absolutely love the place! I bought lots of keychains from there. Also, to the owners: do you still have that jumbo Miku plushie from Christmas, or do you have any Miku plushies? I’m curious—if the Miku plushie is still available for purchase, how much is it?

Hobbytech Toys, as the name implies, is an emporium for hobbyists, specifically those into RC vehicles, trains, and Warhammer (40K, AoS, and Fantasy) miniatures. Paints and airbrushing supplies are offered as well, ticking the convenience box.
Beyond that, LEGO is on deck, and the selection is chunky. I counted nearly 20 different sets and themes on my last visit, with Batman, Star Wars, and Bluey as some of the best-sellers.
What’s cool is that you can walk away with tips on how to paint minis, thanks to the informed staff. I myself got a few airbrushing hacks from Sam!
It’s not the most manned spot, though. And with its sprawling layout, looking for in-store personnel is tricky and can get vexing fast.
In addition, not all of the items can be ordered online and being nearly 30 minutes from the Perth city centre doesn’t help either.
Awesome Collection
Just wanted to say a really big thank you to Sam who served me the other day. Really appreciated him taking the time to assure me all the stuff I needed to start Gunpla modelling was what I needed. Lovely dude, hope he gets valued by the company as much as I did his customer service.
You guys had an awesome selection of Gunpla available—got these bad boys whilst I was there. Will definitely be coming back to shop just because of it. Thanks again, Sam 👍

Kind, Friendly, and Knowledgeable
Great shop, with a diverse range of items and hobbies represented. Kind, friendly, and knowledgeable staff ensure you feel welcome and answer questions with patience and grace.
I personally spoke with Mike, who was very knowledgeable and helpful, showing lots of patience and understanding. He was welcoming and eager to help, and we really appreciated his assistance.
I definitely recommend checking the store out if you’re interested in RC, modelling, or tabletop wargaming.
