Pros
- 24/7 emergency services
- Has a big team
- Large operating facilities
- Fairly close to the Perth CBD
Cons
- Pricier than others
West Coast Vets is one of our favourite animal hospitals in Perth because of their dedicated vets and nurses. They usually cater to small animals, horses, and farm animals.
What we like most about them is their emergency services, which pet owners can rely on for 24 hours. Still, we recommend calling their team beforehand before coming in to ensure everything is in order.
Moreover, their clinic has 12 skilled and experienced veterinarians and over 50 staff overall, so we think they can handle a decent number of patients.
Not only that, but we commend the fact that they have 3 operating theatres that are spacious enough for comfort.
They also have 3 small animal consulting rooms, arthroscopy, laparoscopy, digital radiography, MRI, and ultrasonography facilities to address a wide variety of pet concerns.
Nevertheless, a few of their previous clients told us that their fees cost more than they expected.
While we believe it’s the staff’s responsibility to be transparent with their fees, we feel it’s best for pet owners to communicate their financial concerns at the beginning to avoid any hassle later.
If you’re interested, West Coast Vets is conveniently located around 20 minutes south of the Perth Central Business District.

Pros
- Over 16 locations
- Caters to many different animals
- Flexible payment options
- Total Wellness Plan insurance
Cons
- No emergency care after working hours
Vetwest Animal Hospitals is one of the most accessible animal hospitals in Perth. For one, we find it incredible that they have 16 vet clinics across the city!
In our opinion, this makes the pet hospital’s team reliable, especially in urgent situations that don’t occur at home.
Their team also offers many animal services, including vaccinations, health checks, puppy school, desexing, ultrasounds, orthopaedic surgery, and more.
Additionally, we believe it’s helpful that the veterinarians can provide pet advice on many topics. This can be for dogs, cats, pocket pets, birds, and wildlife.
It’s handy for us that Vetwest Animal Hospitals accepts several payment methods as well. Clients can pay via Visa, Mastercard, Afterpay, Zip, and GapOnly for insurance holders.
If you prefer, we also appreciate that they sell a Total Wellness Plan. This is pet insurance for dogs and cats to get more affordable perks for vaccinations, parasite protection, unlimited consultations, and the like.
But while we like that this clinic can extend its services beyond opening hours, its staff isn’t able to accommodate new patients 24 hours a day.
When you call their hotline after-hours, note that their answering machine will still provide details of the nearest after-hours emergency care surgery for your convenience.

Pros
- 3 clinics for urgent after-hour care
- Free health checks for pups and kittens
- Available most days of the week
- Offers puppy pre-school
Cons
- Reports of unresponsiveness
- Small team
We think North Perth Vet Centre is a trustworthy option if you need to call an animal hospital in Perth.
First of all, we like that their team has 3 after-hour emergency clinics. These are conveniently situated in Wanneroo, Osborne Park, and Balcatta.
In our opinion, having several scattered locations ensures that their team can look after as many new patients as possible.
And apart from consultations, routine sterilisations, dentistry, and x-rays, we love that they provide complimentary puppy and kitty checks, as well as puppy pre-school.
This clinic’s puppy classes teach little furry friends to socialise and know how to execute basic instructions, such as sit, drop, stand, and wait.
Should you want to reach out, the North Perth Vet Centre is open 6 days a week, except on Sundays. We love that their staff is also available for emergency services.
But because they only have 4 veterinarians on their team, they’re unable to respond to all enquiries immediately. You may book online, but keep in mind that their consultation slots are limited.

Pros
- Caters to a wide range of animals
- Well-equipped rooms and stores
- Medium-sized team
- Walk-in services 6 days a week
Cons
- Long wait times for walk-ins
Swan Veterinary Hospital has helped many types of animals over the years. If you have a cat, dog, rabbit, guinea pig, bird, rat, mouse, or even a snake, we recommend their animal hospital in Perth for you to consider.
We love that they have fully equipped examination rooms, diagnostic machines, and pharmaceutical stores. Because of this, we think they can provide on-the-spot assistance for nearly all pet health and medical needs.
Some of their team’s notable services are dog and cat vaccinations, dentistry, radiography, ultrasonography, clinical pathology, flea and tick control, and the like.
Other than that, we applaud that they can also give pet care advice on a wide range of topics. This involves important matters like microchipping, behavioural and nutritional needs, diabetes, and so on.
They have 7 veterinarians as well, so we think their clinic is able to handle a good number of patients.
If you’re unable to make a reservation, we’re glad that Swan Veterinary Hospital offers a walk-in service on Mondays through Saturdays.
Nevertheless, remember that surgical appointments and emergencies are prioritised. Their walk-in wait times can take more time on some days, especially if you don’t call ahead.

Pros
- 60+ years of expertise
- Available most days of the week
- Offers emergency care
- Available parking
Cons
- Reports of hidden charges
St Francis Vet Hospital is among the longest-running animal hospitals in Perth – they’ve been servicing the community since 1962!
Some of the clients we talked to have been going to them for decades. For us, this shows the clinic’s high quality of care, which retains the trust of these pet owners.
Their staff provides full medical and surgical services for dogs, cats, and other small domestic pets. This involves general health checks, dentistry, microchipping, sterilisation, orthopaedic surgery, soft tissue surgery, vaccinations, and imaging.
At their clinic, we also appreciate that they offer several products, like pet food and preventative medicine for fleas and worms.
St Francis Vet Hospital is open 6 days a week (half days on Saturdays), along with emergency vet services if you need their assistance.
We also find it handy that the clinic has several parking spaces readily available, which we feel adds to the seamlessness of the visits.
Nonetheless, we recommend asking for a detailed breakdown of the costs at the beginning. One of their previous clients told us about being charged some unexpected fees, which caused them some misunderstandings with the clinic.
