The Old Post Office, which was built in 1896, has a lot of information about Jarrahdale’s sights and its long history. It also sells a variety of local crafts at fair prices.
This site is a place for tourists to go to learn about the history of the area. It has a large collection of historical documents and pictures that are only found in this museum.
Travel tip: The museum is closed from mid-December until February. Appointments can also be made for viewings, so it’s best to plan ahead to prevent any hassle.

Do you want to see magnificent views among waterfalls? If so, we recommend going to Serpentine Falls in Serpentine National Park.
There’s lots to see here! This park is filled with ancient landforms, woods, and the Serpentine River valley gorge running through it.
The popular waterfall also falls 15 metres into a pool below and flows over a huge granite rock face. Take advantage of this chance to be your own photographer and take some beautiful pictures.
Travel tip: We suggest visiting Serpentine Falls around late winter to early spring. After the winter rains, the wildflowers are blooming and the waterfalls are running.
In September, the park is also full of colour and vibrance when the wildflowers are at their best. The best time to go hiking is from late fall to the middle of spring, when the weather is cooler.
This park also has several amenities for your convenience – toilets, free barbecues, and lots of shaded grassy areas. Do note that kangaroos come to this area to look for food, but it’s best not to give them anything to eat.
Also, keep in mind that the park fills up quickly and can’t take any more people once it’s full. To avoid any hassle, it’s best to get there by 10 am.
You may also want to consider getting a park pass if you plan to visit more than one park or if you want to come back.
Most people come to see Serpentine Falls, but the park also has some beautiful walking trails. From the Serpentine Picnic Area car park, you may start the Falls Walk Trail, the Baldwins Bluff Nature Track, or the Kitty’s Gorge Walk Track.
For your safety, we advise you to stay on the trails.
This keeps you safe from dugites (lethal snakes) and diebacks (trees or shrubs dying due to a disease or an unfavourable environment), which are common in some places. You could also accidentally spread the disease that comes from the soil.
And though Serpentine Falls is a popular swimming spot, we think it’s better to weigh the risks first. When the rocks are wet, they’re slippery, and the water has different depths and hidden dangers.

Another great walking trail we recommend in the Perth Hills is Kitty’s Gorge. This is a 17.5 km return hike, often called one of the best half-day trails in the city.
Along the Kwinana Freeway and Mundijong Road, this site is less than an hour’s drive from the city centre (CBD). We think this makes it accessible to many visitors.
This whole area is very rich in greenery because it rains a lot here. Also, there are two scenic rivers that run through the beautiful valleys you might like.
This trip also seems like a great way to spend half a day exploring the beautiful forests around Jarrahdale. You might also get a good look at the granite rapids.
For us, this looks like a great way to relax or meditate. If you have a therapist or psychologist, they’ll probably agree that you need to do this every now and then.
So, chill out – we think this is a trail where you can stay away from the chaotic city and appreciate the little things.
Travel tip: There are unlikely to be any shops or cafes along the trail, so bring some snacks and lots of water to keep you going throughout the day.
Also, when you get to the Serpentine River, note that the hike changes from a single-track path to a wide-open area.
When you get tired, we believe it would be nice to stop by Spencer’s Cottage. It has a sloped waterfall, perfect for the summer.
We recommend that you and your family have a picnic in this area too. Make the most of the space, gas grills, and tables around here.
Lastly, remember to leave no trace. It’s our responsibility to keep these natural areas in good shape for the next hiker.

Are you a history buff? If so, the heritage walks at Jarrahdale Heritage Park are two easy trails made for enthusiasts and people who just want to take a casual walk.
We think this is a great place for people who are new to walking trails. There are a bunch of signs and historical photos, as well as maps and markers to help you find your way.
The Old Post Office and Museum is the starting point for both walks. You won’t get lost because you can buy a detailed booklet there to help you find your way.
The short walk is an easy 4.5 km loop on gravel and paved paths, and the long walk adds another 4.8 km. Both trails also cross each other.
We’re happy that the heritage walks welcome all furry friends too! Aside from several dog-friendly beaches and campgrounds in Perth, you can take your pup and have fun with them here too.
For your convenience, there are stores nearby where you can buy food and drinks. This also includes local produce if you want some fresh ingredients.
Friendly tip: These stores also offer some tables. We suggest waiting and regrouping with family and friends who may have chosen to go on other trails nearby.

A small winery called Millbrook Winery is located in Jarrahdale, a historic village. It’s set in the scenic Chestnut Farm, nestled among virgin jarrah woods, with stunning panoramas of the rolling landscape.
Be sure to schedule your journey in advance because it will take you about 50 minutes to travel here from Perth.
But once you’re here, we think you’ll have a good selection of wine to enjoy!
The best fruits from Western Australia are used to make the premium wine sold under the Millbrook label. These wines are offered in their tasting room for purchase by the glass or bottle as well as for tasting.
Nonetheless, Millbrook Winery was built with the goal of producing high-quality, small-batch wines. Thus, these are available in limited amounts, so try as many as you can.
Friendly tip: Visit in the spring or summer to savour their delicious array of contemporary Aussie food or gourmet picnic baskets.
For us, it’s interesting that the food changes with the seasons. They use heirloom fruits and vegetables from Chestnut Farm as well as other fresh local goods.
On the deck with panoramic views, you may also enjoy picnics while taking in the beauty of Millbrook. Otherwise, you can choose to have a picnic on your own by the lake.
During the winter, coffee lovers can relax by the fire in the warm tasting room or café.
We think the Millbrook tasting room is a great place to relax for an hour or two before or after lunch. It has a nice view of the lake and gardens, and people who like art galleries may explore their creative collection.
If you want to visit, you may set up private and group tastings in advance. The private dining room or barrel hall also seems like the perfect place for gatherings of 10 or more.
For a more in-depth learning experience, formal seminars can also be scheduled. Naturally, there may be extra fees, so be sure to bring extra cash.

The beautiful 150-hectare property of the Jarrahdale Equestrian Centre is a lovely place to get your energy back and build your confidence. While riding a calm Australian stock horse, you may also see nature at its finest.
There are many enjoyable outdoor activities there! We think the large, open area of Jarrahdale is ideal for anyone who wants to do various equestrian activities.
Just keep in mind to pay attention and heed all of their staff’s safety warnings. You don’t want any fractured bones or to need to visit a pain specialist in the future.
They also recommend wearing loose-fitting, comfortable attire. Closed-toe footwear with a tiny heel is advised.
It’s a good idea to bring insect repellent and sunscreen too! In the summer, Jarrahdale may get very warm and be surrounded by pests.
Of course, horses should be handled with respect as living things. Always be kind and respectful around them, so they can also return the favour.

Another way to get fun exercise is through off-road cycling on the Munda Biddi Trail. This trail travels 1,000 kilometres across untouched natural habitat from Mundaring to Albany.
We believe the trail can be thrilling to ride, but it can also be challenging. Of course, your time on the trail will be much better if you’re well-prepared and know the basics of cycling fitness, gear, technique, and safety.
The best thing you can do is plan a ride that fits your level of fitness and skill. You may want to get in shape first by doing at least a month of Pilates, yoga, or gym workouts to improve your physical and mental condition.
Though the trail has a lot of pleasant terrain, there are some difficult stretches, so cyclists should be alert. You could start with a short distance and build up to longer ones as your fitness level improves.
Note that off-road cycling is different from touring and cycling on sealed roads because the surfaces of the trails are varied.
As your basis, if you can typically cycle 80 km per day on bike lanes or sealed roads, their staff told us it’s best to aim to cycle 40 to 50 km off-road for your safety.
Friendly tip: The Parks and Wildlife Service has created free digital map files for the Munda Biddi Trail. We recommend using these in addition to the printed maps.
If you only use electronics, you run the risk of the battery dying, the device breaking, or not working in places with little or no network connectivity. Moreover, any potential path detours may not be shown on the digital maps.
And before and during your expedition, it’s a good idea to check the Parks and Wildlife website for any trail modifications, closures, prescribed fires, and current trail conditions.
