What better way to start your day than to treat yourself at the mall?
Conveniently, only 12 kilometres separate the Westfield Carousel Shopping Center from Perth’s Central Business District. This is approximately a reasonable 22-minute drive.
At the shopping centre, you can buy a bunch of clothes, shoes, and everyday items all in one place. We think it’s difficult to leave empty-handed, no matter if you only plan to get one thing.
With a population of around 660,000 in the whole trade area and 1.2 million people in the accessible market, the mall currently serves close to one-third of the city’s residents.
Moreover, its location is advantageous for many local and international students.
The Bentley Campus of Curtin University and the South Street Campus of Murdoch University, two of Perth’s largest university campuses, are both near the mall.
So, we recommend going to the mall’s website beforehand to see which stores to visit. This way, you can spend less time deciding and dealing with crowds.
Customers can also have fun all day and night at the outdoor amphitheatre on the roof of the mall. If you have kids, the mall also houses iPlay, which is a delightful play area for them to use as an outlet for all their energy.
Westfield Carousel also has a number of customer services, like valet, Park+, a service desk, and a designated area for Uber pick-up and drop-off for your convenience.
Just a tip: Because Westfield Carousel is a famous attraction, parking here can be difficult. Be sure to plan your trip ahead and allow extra time for parking.
Launch Your Canoe at Kent Street Weir Park

Address: Kent St, Wilson WA 6107, Australia

Opening Hours: Open 24 hours
The next stop is the Kent Street Weir Park, which is ideal for its numerous amenities. You can launch your canoe from here, stroll across the area, and make use of the roomy, grassy grounds, among other things.
We think the park is an excellent place to go cycling or walking. To increase everyone’s safety, there’s a pedestrian crossing built on top of the concrete piles.
There are great flat grounds and many shady trees, too. This makes it seem easy to choose a good site for the picnic blanket.
Still, we advise bringing some sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses, because Perth is known for its sunny weather. Otherwise, bring a lightweight jacket if you’re travelling in the winter because of the chilly evenings.
You may have a BBQ if you’d like as well. Parents may prefer to choose a location closer to the playground for easier child supervision.
We recommend going to the Canning River Eco Education Center, too. This includes activities that teach about the environment and the Canning River.
Those who enjoy coffee might also want to stop by the park’s Canning River Café. This place is well-stocked with a variety of drinks, cool ice cream, and delectable meals, and is highly favoured by park visitors.
However, there’s a constant stream of hungry customers here. If you want to go to the café with a large party, we suggest making reservations in advance.
Ride a Train at Castledare Miniature Railways

Opening Hours: Sunday: 10:00 AM – 1:30 PM
If you have a kid (or a kid at heart, yourself), you might enjoy riding on a miniature train!
On the first and third Sundays of each month, the charming Canning River is the backdrop for the Castledare Miniature Railway. And during the summer break, it typically runs on Wednesdays.
Still, their website is the best place to check run times and station locations because the schedules can change at any time.
Also, don’t forget to take many pictures of the Castledare Miniature Railway to remember your educational yet joyous trip.
Friendly advice: Wear closed-in footwear or open-toed footwear with a heel strap. This site has a strict ‘no bare feet’ policy for safety reasons.
Additionally, it’s good to understand that steam engines are hot and produce smoke, steam, and occasionally cinders.
Be mindful of your actions to avoid burns, securing yourself a trip to the emergency room and future sessions with a dermatologist (dermatologist Perth).

Opening Hours: Open 24 hours
Nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts shouldn’t miss a trip to Canning River Regional Park.
We believe this park is a sanctuary in the middle of the city, with a huge area of lush vegetation and many different kinds of animals.
It’s 6 kilometres long and offers a variety of family-friendly activities. You may visit this urban escape to unwind and enjoy strolling, canoeing, fishing, and picnics.
Those who want to get some exercise might like the sealed pathways throughout the park. These seem handy for people bringing their bikes or scooters.
There are many trails that wind through the park. So, you can spend hours exploring its different landscapes and taking in its beautiful views.
Just remember that children under 10 must be under adult supervision. In addition, safety equipment like helmets must be worn.
Parents can conveniently keep watch from a park bench shaded by a tree. For older students who want to practise their shots, there’s a basketball hoop behind the BMX course as well.
And for fur parents, dogs are allowed in the park, but they must be kept on a leash at all times.
In case you’re with friends and want some thrills, you may go through the jungle after crossing the bridge across the river.
Safety tip: Even though these trails are well-kept and easy to follow, be aware that snakes are sometimes in the area.
Check your surroundings every once in a while to avoid getting hurt and needing an emergency room a few miles away.
Appreciate St James Silo Art
Website: http://www.nearttrail.org.au/
Address: 23 Devenish Rd, St James VIC 3727, Australia
Contact Details: +61 411 533 339, [email protected]
Opening Hours: Monday – Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
We recommend that art gallery enthusiasts visit St. James Silo Art for a one-of-a-kind experience. This is one of the most popular silo arts in the area because of its intricate detailing.
The silos, which were painted by artist Tim Bowtell, honour St. James’ lengthy history. Few people are aware that the first Coles supermarket was located in St James.
Not only that, but there are also other silo art pieces along the trail for you to explore. To know more about them, look out for the information you can read nearby.
It’s also best for you to schedule your visit beforehand. This lets you see the silos during the day, when you can see them all clearly.
We also believe the St. James Silo Art can serve as a nice photo backdrop for you and your loved ones. If possible, bring your good camera to capture as many photos as you can, like a professional photographer.
Friendly tip: The silos are mostly black and sepia in colour. So, in our opinion, it would be nice for you to wear all white or vibrant colours to make your pictures look better.
After your art appreciation, we also suggest taking some time to visit the pubs around the city.
Experience Lost Reality Live Escape Room

Address: Unit 7/1451 Albany Hwy, Cannington WA 6107, Australia
Contact Details: +61 8 6119 4453, [email protected]
Opening Hours: Monday – Wednesday: 10:30 AM – 8:00 PM, Friday: 10:30 AM – 10:30 PM, Saturday: 9:00 AM – 10:30 PM, Sunday: 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM
Are you and your friends up for a mind-boggling challenge? We suggest trying out the Lost Reality Live Escape Room.
Here, there are a number of creatively designed sets for you to get through – some of the sets got their inspiration from Jumanji, Game of Thrones, Sherlock Holmes, and the like!
Plus, you may also be interested in the idea of using a walkie talkie. This would aid you and your friends in communicating better as a team.
For your booking, just be sure to be on time for the escape room. Being late could have an impact on both your own experience and that of other members.
We also advise wearing comfortable, move-friendly attire. You’ll be moving around the room and solving riddles (possibly for a while).
Also, remember to reserve your slot in advance because these escape rooms frequently sell out quickly.
Above all, remember to enjoy yourself and the event. In our opinion, the Lost Reality Live Escape Room is designed to be fun rather than frustrating.
Go kart at The Kart Centre

The Kart Centre is yet another fantastic location for a celebration or a casual thrill-seeking activity for a group of friends.
This track combines complexity with high-speed sections to challenge even the best drivers. In fact, this was specifically created by racers for racers, so we think you’ll feel the authenticity of the experience.
But don’t worry, because this is an exciting yet safe sport. The Kart Centre offers protective gear, including helmets and gloves.
Here, you may overlook some of the lessons from your driving instructor. Allow yourself to drive as fast as you want for a while (within limits, of course).
Friendly tip: To save more money, check out their Facebook and Instagram pages to be aware of their regular specials and discounts.
It’s also advisable that you dress comfortably and wear closed-toe shoes when karting to maximise your control and safety.
And despite the snack bar and drinks that the Kart Centre offers, we suggest bringing your own water bottle to stay hydrated with ease.
And there you go! We hope you find the best things to do in Canning, Perth. Plan your adventure today!
