Website:https://shq.org.au/

Address: 70 Roe Street, Northbridge

Contact: (08) 9227 6177

Schedule: Monday – Wednesday, Friday, 9:30 am – 4:00 pm; Thursday, 9:30 am – 8:00 pm

Managing reproductive health often requires care that goes beyond what a standard GP can offer. SHQ Sexual Health Quarters focuses on STI testing, contraception, cervical screening, and helpline support, all in one place.

One client we spoke with visited their Northbridge clinic and said the welcoming staff helped them feel at ease from the moment they arrived.

They offer a later Thursday evening appointment time, which is useful for people who can’t make it during the day.

If you’re comparing other options, you can check out our guide to the sexual health clinics to find a provider that suits your needs.

However, their regular schedule doesn’t include weekend appointments. Additionally, their services focus mainly on reproductive and sexual health, so they’re not designed for general health checkups.

Pros

  • Dedicated STI screening
  • Comprehensive contraceptive support
  • Convenient Thursday evening hours
  • Confidential telephone helpline

Cons

  • No weekend slots
  • Limited focus on general checkups

Would recommend to anyone 😊

I recently had to come in to do my cervical screening, and get my Implanon replaced. I saw Gaynor both times, and she was amazing. I was naturally pretty anxious for both procedures, but she made me feel really comfortable and at ease the whole time. Overall my experience at SHQ has been great – the services are affordable, the staff are friendly, and the clinic itself is a really welcoming and safe environment. Would recommend to anyone 😊

What a wonderfully inclusive, thorough experience

What a wonderfully inclusive, thorough experience. Kind and compassionate and non-judgemental clinician – I can’t remember their name, sorry! Easy booking process and nice to have same day appointments available.  So different to going to a GP for a screen.

2. biio

biio

Website:https://www.biio.com.au/

Address: 224 Rokeby Rd, Subiaco

Contact: 1800 325 205; Email: [email protected]

Schedule: Contact to schedule an appointment

Managing complex health conditions that affect multiple parts of the body can leave patients feeling overlooked by traditional GPs.

biio offers dedicated care for complex invisible illnesses, giving ongoing physical symptoms the attention they need through thorough assessments.

Their initial biio.markers assessments look into conditions such as dysautonomia, connective tissue disorders, and hormonal imbalances.

From there, their integrated care pathways provide more personalised support, helping patients avoid getting lost between different areas of care.

Unfortunately, their specialised approach focuses on chronic invisible conditions rather than routine annual health checkups.

Additionally, their services are available across Australia, but busy periods can sometimes lead to longer wait times for appointments.

Pros

  • Specialised invisible illness care
  • Comprehensive initial assessments
  • Multidisciplinary care pathways
  • Focus on complex symptom patterns

Cons

  • Not for routine general checks
  • Potential schedule delays

Appreciate the time that Cailen put aside for me

Cailen took the time to genuinely connect with me and understand everything I was having issues with. He helped me along through promoted questions and encouraged me to go off script wherever I thought necessary. You can book a skin check or mole mapping session before heading into the office or on a relaxed Saturday morning. Plus, their friendly, multilingual doctors help patients feel welcome and understood from the moment they arrive.

But remember, this location mainly operates as a general practice, so they don’t offer the highly comprehensive executive screening packages available from specialised wellness providers.

To add, Sunday hours are quite short, so you’ll need to plan those appointments carefully.

Pros

  • Broad general health screening support
  • Full body mole mapping and skin checks
  • Open weekends and public holidays

Cons

  • No comprehensive executive screening packages
  • Sunday hours are quite limited

Pier Street Medical makes this easier with a central Perth CBD location and a wide range of workplace health services.

They offer pre-employment screenings, audiometry, spirometry, and workplace drug testing, making them useful for both employers and individual workers.

The clinic even caters to people who need commercial driver licences, dangerous goods clearances, or specialised safety assessments.
